Dr. Basudeb Sen, Ph.D. (ISI), M.A. (Economics)(Calcutta), AMP-ISMP(Harvard Business School) Director Dr. Sen was Chairman, Industrial Investment Bank of India and Executive Director, Unit Trust of India. He has served as a business executive in various capacities in Industrial Development Bank of India, Coal India and United Bank of India. In these organizations he held responsibilities in various areas including strategic business planning, performance budgeting, management information systems and IT project implementation. He had served on the Boards of a number of companies in the power, engineering, textiles, financial services, electronics and entertainment sectors. The companies included Calcutta Electric supply Corporation, L&T, HMT Bearings, National Stock Exchange, HMV, UTI Securities Ltd. Currently Dr. Sen is Independent Non-Executive Director on the Boards of ITC Ltd., Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd., South Asian Petrochem Ltd., Mahanagar Gas Ltd., SREI Venture Capital Ltd., Ispat Industries Ltd. and Sumedha Fiscal Services Ltd. He has taught and conducted training programmes, as a Visiting Faculty at National Institute of Bank Management, Pune, Indian Institute of Bank Management, Guwahati and other business schools. He has contributed several articles in academic/professional journals and financial papers on a range of subjects like management, economics, banking, financial markets and energy. Dr. Bani K. Sinha, Ph.D. (Wharton School, USA), M.Sc. (Delhi) Professor and Head of Operations, Supply Chain & Retail Management Cluster. Dr. Sinha is former Professor of Operations Management at IIM Calcutta; former Director of AsiaPacific Institute of Management, New Delhi; and former Director of Management Education Centre, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata. He has about 45 years of teaching, research, training and consultancy experience. He is also former Editor-in-Chief of OPSEARCH the flagship international Journal of the Operational Research Society of India. Currently, he is the Chairman, Editorial Board, OPSEARCH. Dr. Chakrabarti has taught in several universities in the US and held a chair in Technology Management at Drexel University before joining NJIT as the founding Dean of the School of Management there. After eleven years as the Dean, he relinquished the position and went back to the faculty. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Kiel in Germany, Helsinki University of Technology and Tampere University of Technology. At a macro level, he has worked on the innovation strategies and published many journals in the US and Europe. His book co-authored with Martin Neil Baily “Innovation and Productivity Crisis” was published by Brookings Institution and favorably reviewed by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Science, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals in Europe and the USA. Dr. Debajyoti Mukhopadhyay; Ph.D. (Jadavpur), M.S. (Stevens Institute of Technology, USA), D.C.S. (Queen's University of Belfast, UK), B.E. (Calcutta) Professor and Head of Information Technology and Management Information Systems Dr. Mukhopadhyay is former Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the West Bengal University of Technology affiliated Engineering Colleges(2001-2008). He was a Visiting Professor in the Division of Electronics & Information Engineering at Chonbuk National University in the Republic of Korea (2006-2007). He had also taught at Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey (1982-1984) and at Bengal Engineering College affiliated to Calcutta University, West Bengal (1980-1981). He had earlier worked in IT industry for 16 years. During 1982-1994 and in 1999, he was in the USA. He had worked at Bell Communications Research, New Jersey, USA in its Computing Systems and Architecture Lab. Dr. Mukhopadhyay also held the positions of President & CEO of Data-Core (India) Limited of Kuljian Corporation (USA) & DCPL (India), Technical Director of M.N. Dastur & Co Ltd, Director of SriSoft Corporation (Los Angeles), Dy GM of TIL Limited, and Senior Consultant of Tata Consultancy Services. Professor Sudev Das; B.A. (Economics) (St. Xavier's College, Calcutta University), (Economics) (Jadavpur University) M.A.

Professor of Economics, Banking and Financial Management & Corporate Governance Prof. Das joined State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in 1970 and over the years he reached the position of Chief General Manager in the Bank. During his long career as a banker Prof. Das had wide exposure to the world of Money, Banking and Finance, apart from a long innings in retail banking, Prof. Das has long and varied experience in Corporate Finance, Foreign Exchange and International Banking and in General Management. For over four years Prof. Das was also posted in the Singapore Office of State Bank of India and extensively visited the Gulf countries while he was looking after NRI business of the Bank. For three years he was posted as a Faculty in State Bank of India 's prestigious Staff College at Hyderabad . He was invited to National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) at Pune on several occasions to speak on various topics relating to banking. Prof. Das also had a stint in Investment Banking while he was posted as Executive Vice President at SBI Capital Markets Ltd, Mumbai. As Executive Director of Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Prof. Das looked after the Division of Issues and Listings, Mutual Funds, Venture Funds, Foreign Institutional Investors(FIIs) and Corporate Restructuring. He represented SEBI as a Member of the National Committee on Accounting Standards. During his tenure at SEBI he also attended international conferences on finance and securities market at Mauritius , Sri Lanka and the UK. He is also Visiting Faculty at Goa Institute of Management. Mr. Dipak Mallik; B.E. (Jadavpur University), PG Diploma in Comuter Science (Jadavpur University) Systems Manager and Faculty of Information Technology and Management Information Systems Mr. Mallik has worked in IIM Calcutta, ICI India Limited and other IT organizations for more than 30 years. He was a faculty member of School of Information Technology, West Bengal University of Technology. His area of expertise include BPR, ERP and Software Engineering.

alcutta Business School has very strong linkages with industry. The Board of Governors comprises renowned industrialists and professionals. Most of the full-time Faculty have long industry experience in leading organizations in India and abroad like Bell Communications Research (USA), Data-Core (India) Limited of Kuljian Corporation (USA), SriSoft Corporation (USA), ITC Ltd, IIBI, IDBI, UBI, Coal India Ltd, State Bank of India, Securities & Exchange Board of India, UTI, Industrial Investment Bank of India, DCPL (India), M. N. Dastur & Co Ltd, TIL Limited, Tata Consultancy Services, besides several years of experience in leading academic institutions. The blend of industry and academic background of the Faculty will make teaching more effective and meaningful with real-life examples. All members of the Faculty have wide contact with business and industry by virtue of their previous assignments. There will be constant interaction with industry and the business world to further identify areas and emerging trends and look for further opportunities for summer and final placement. Plans have been made to place students for summer internship in leading corporate houses. The curriculum has been carefully designed so that students get

adequate exposure to basic functional areas like Marketing, Finance, Quantitative Techniques, Information Technology and Human Resource Management, before they go for their Summer Internship after their first year of study. Adequate and specific guidelines will be given to the students before they proceed for Summer Internship. Students will work on live projects in industry under the supervision of very competent guides, and will finally give recommendations to the problems as highlighted in their projects, besides making presentations in the organizations. After returning from Summer Internship, students will share their experiences among other students under the supervision of faculty from different areas. With good exposure to industry and reinforced input of elective courses of specialization areas, the students will be ready to take responsible managerial positions in industry. They will be suitably placed in different types of organizations ranging from financial institutions, consulting firms, manufacturing organizations, retail sector, IT firms and insurance sector. In view of wide contacts with a large number of organizations, students will get opportunity to select their suitable placement out of diverse organizations.

Management Development Programm and Other Institutional Activities
The Management Development Centre, under construction, with a floor space of 38,000 sq.ft. and a highend building, 60 air-conditioned single rooms, modern lecture galleries, IT infrastructure and networking facilities, will be used for conducting Executive Development Programmes, In-company Training Programmes, Workshops and Seminars. 1-year Executive Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (EPGDM) programme will be introduced for candidates having more than two years industry experience after graduation, by 2010. Short-duration Management Development Programmes for company executives will be introduced soon. Fellowship Programme in Management, equivalent to Ph. D, will also be introduced in three to four years. Strong emphasis will be given on research, publication of papers in leading international and national journals, presentation of papers in international and national Conferences/ Seminars/ Workshops. The intellectual capital of the Faculty is at a very high level. The institute will provide consultancy to different types of industries in a wide range of areas covering all facets of management. The Faculty has long and varied experience in providing consultancy to different types of organizations. Some of the Centres are: Centre for Technology and Manufacturing Management Centre for Strategy and International Management Centre for Infrastructure Management Centre for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and SME Centre for Agriculture & Agribusiness Management Centre for Energy and Environment Management These centres will promote research, publication, conducting Executive Development Programmes, conducting tailor-made In-company Training Programmes and providing Consultancy in respective areas. Linkages with some leading foreign Management Schools are also being explored.
