About Judy McSween:
Judy McSween is an artist who has been drawing and painting as long as she can remember. She earned a BFA from Bowling Green State University in Ohio where she specialized in painting and received a dual degree in art education. She began her career as an art teacher in her hometown of Warren, Ohio before moving to South Carolina with her husband. In Myrtle Beach and in Lexington, she taught in public and private schools, preschools, the YWCA, and privately in her home. She’s always been inspired by the energy, vision and innocence of children’s art. In her paintings, Judy works to capture that childlike freshness and vitality while infusing her work with life experiences. Her paintings are a combination of memories from places she’s visited and loved and abstractions that emerge from the lines and colors she sweeps across her surfaces. While some of the images start as stories in her mind, her intent is that viewers interpret them to take on new meaning in their hearts. Judy is the proud mother of four children: three sons and a daughter. She credits her husband and children with supporting her and encouraging her to pursue painting. Judy currently teaches part time at The Montessori Community School of Charleston and paints in a studio space in her home. She invites viewers to see more of her work by visiting her website, judymcsween.com and her shop, My Brilliant Brush, on Etsy. She can also be reached via email at

Take a break from the waves, and stop in at the Cooper River Marina for a tasty treat.
