February 25, 2013 Dear Families, Last month I spoke of the importance of strong communication between home and school and working cooperatively to support all children. The Staff at Wolfville School comment regularly on how much they are enjoying teaching and working with your children this year, we have great kids at Wolfville School! This is no surprise as we also recognize that these same students have wonderful support from home. This past month staff appreciation week took place and I want to sincerely thank our parent volunteers who dedicated their time and skills to make this staff feel so much appreciated! A few kind words or a small treat is all it takes but you folks went well above and beyond that with a week-long celebration. From all of our staff, a GREAT BIG THANK YOU! You will soon be receiving the next set of report cards, take some time to review this important update and discuss the comments with your child. Children appreciate you being involved in their education and usually like to see someone from their family visit during parent teacher meetings. Sometimes, particularly with middle school age students, it feels like they do not want you involved in their schooling and out of school life. Whatever stage your child is in, it is important that we continue to support them by talking with them about school, friends, interests, etc. Stay connected with your kids and their School, it will make a huge difference in their education and overall development. Steve Keddy, Principal SAC NEWS The next School Advisory meeting will take place on Thursday, March 7th at 7:00 pm. At Wolfville School, we believe that all students should be able to participate fully in school. We are pleased to have a “LIFE” benevolent fund to assist with specific student needs related to learning. This fund is used to ensure that no student is prevented from participating fully in their classes or school-based experiences because of their financial situation. It is only through the generous financial support of local businesses and residents that the LIFE fund can exist. Here’s how you can help: Provide us with your business card and for only $20 we will include it in our monthly newsletter. It’s low-cost advertising for you and the proceeds go to a great cause! Call Mrs. Davison or Mrs. Fox in the school office at 542-6055, or drop by with your business card. If you don’t have a business but would like to make a donation, that would be great too. Thank you in advance for your support.

Starting February 11th, information on non-profit organizations, community groups and Government services in Nova Scotia will be organized in a single 211 database. Until now, Nova Scotians have not had a single referral source for community and social services across the Province. 211 is not a counseling service. It is an information and referral service that will connect people with the most appropriate services to meet their needs. It is free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We recognize that 211 will be strongest when we work together. We welcome your feedback and invite you to visit our website, and check out the database, at www.ns.211.ca
