AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT—SONNY SMITH
A member since 2001 and an Ambassador since 2006, Sonny Smith has proven
to be a huge asset to the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce. Sonny enjoys his
role as Ambassador for the Chamber because he really enjoys meeting new
people. He feels that the Chamber offers many great opportunities to meet
people and network, especially when working on a committee. Sonny has
personally worked on the Dinner Dance and Golf Outing Committees. In
addition to working on Chamber Committees and being a Chamber Ambassador, Sonny also works on the Executive Board for the Chamber where he holds
the position of Treasurer.
A professor at College of DuPage, Sonny teaches Business, Management, and Marketing
Courses. Sonny has been with the College for 25 years, 7 of those years as a Full Time
Professor and 15 years as an Adjunct Professor. In addition to his work at College of DuPage,
Sonny has also worked with Bell Labs – Lucent Technologies for over 30 years as a Senior
Product Manager.
A resident of Lisle with wife Linda, Sonny enjoys boating and fishing in his free time. He also
enjoys being a father and grandfather. Finally, Sonny leaves us with these words of wisdom,
“What do you want? What’s standing in your way? What are YOU going to do about it?”

AROUND TOWN

Congratulations to the new Lisle Library District Executive Director,
Katharine Seeling (pictured right)

The Lisle Library is currently celebrating 50 years of serving the community
with a yearlong celebration. They began their celebration by hiding 100
golden tickets in materials all over the library, that recipients can redeem for
a small prize. Additionally, the DuPage Symphony Orchestra will perform
on February 13th in honor of Irv Goldstein, founder of Friends of the Lisle Library
District. Congratulations to the Lisle Library District!

As part of the Lisle Library District’s 50th year anniversary celebration, the Lisle Library
District Board of Trustees presented certificates to Cathy and Patrick Cawiezel during the
naming of the Albert F. and Marilyn W. Cawiezel Meeting Room. The room was
