It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to a close and kids are heading back to school. It’s been a great stretch since the June primary and, with Labor Day just around the corner, we're thrilled with our momentum. We’re gearing up for a very busy fall. This election is so important to the future of California! Californians across the state tell me that they are hungry for a new kind of leadership. This past weekend I was in San Diego for the California Republican Party's Fall Convention. I'm more confident than ever that this Republican ticket - one of the strongest and most diverse California Republicans have had in recent memory - will get our state back on track. Our backgrounds are geared towards creating jobs and finding solutions to complex challenges. On Saturday morning, I had a real treat. We held our first “Walk for A New California” with MEGaWomen supporters, proudly sporting our poppy t-shirts! One step at a time, we are going to take Sacramento back. The energy among the group was phenomenal and I look forward to participating in more mall walks around the state! If you are interested in joining our MEGaWomen coalition, click here. Building A New California is going to take a new way of thinking. We must take on Sacramento's status quo of mismanaged budgets and chronic gridlock and bring innovation and strong management skills to the state Capitol. I introduced a new television ad this week that explains how I will bring Silicon Valley thinking to Sacramento. Click here to watch. Another milestone this week. I was thrilled to receive the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Business. Small business owners know that I am the only candidate in this race with a real, detailed plan to create new jobs and the management skills to deliver results. Heading into the final stretch, we are working harder than ever to get our message out to more Californians. Our outreach is working, thanks to all of you. We just got great news - the latest Rasmussen poll has our campaign up 8 points over Jerry Brown – 48% to 40%. We never forget that the only poll that counts is the one on election day. I'm counting on you to keep our momentum growing! Please spread the word about my plan to create jobs, control spending and fix education -- encourage your friends and family to check out my website, get engaged with the campaign, and volunteer in one of our field offices. With your help, we will win in November and take back Sacramento. Hope to see you in one of our volunteer offices or along the campaign trail! Stay up to date with Meg on the campaign trail. Meg Whitman tells GOP convention: election is 'a battle for the future of California'
From Meg News Channel
Voters came from across the state, and many said it was the first time they had ever attended a CRP convention. With fewer than 75 days to go until Election Day, they said it’s critical for everyone who wants to have a voice in California’s future to jump on board Meg’s campaign. Click here to read more. In Their Own Words...
Meg Whitman will bring Silicon Valley sensibilities to the state Capitol
By Timothy C. Draper, Founder and a Managing Director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson
Seventy years ago, Stanford grads David Packard and Bill Hewlett took $538 dollars, opened up shop in a Palo Alto garage and, as they say, the rest is history. Ever since, Silicon Valley has been a place where talent and imagination spur innovation. It’s hard to believe that just 130 miles from Silicon Valley is Sacramento, home to what has to be among the nation’s most dysfunctional state governments; a place where partisan gridlock and status quo-thinking produce inertia. The most successful companies that have sprung from the valley have each exhibited a unique mix of visionary leadership, efficient teamwork, and timely execution of bold plans. In the valley, we see complex problems as opportunities, a reason to try something different and take a new road. In Sacramento, they see complex problems as obstacles, an excuse to stick with the old ways and never rock the boat. It’s time for fundamental change in Sacramento. Today, we could use a big dose of the innovative valley mindset in state government. We need a leader who has a plan and the skills and talent to execute. We need a leader like Meg Whitman...more
