Actions: The team collected data from the first reading unit
assessment. As a group, the team analyzed the data to see what
specific areas of the assessment were troublesome and difficult
for the students, and recorded the data on the Google Doc
spreadsheet.
Consequences: The data showed what the team had initially
thought about certain subgroups. The students receiving special
education struggled with constructed responses, as well as
overall reading comprehension questions on the assessment.
Behaviors: It was difficult for the team to see some of the data
with certain subgroups. Even though data was expected, it was
still draining on some of the team members to see the results of
the assessment after all of the work put into preparing and
teaching certain concepts.
Balanced Leadership Connections: As a leader, I felt I
demonstrated the BL responsibility of affirmation during the
meeting. It was important to focus on what the students
struggled with, as well as acknowledge certain aspects of the
test we could celebrate. Focusing on the negatives too much is
never a good thing, so I took it upon myself to celebrate the
aspects of the test where we saw great strides in students.
