The movie, “Fahrenheit 9/11” gave us thought-provoking
insight about the 9/11 attack, George W. Bush’s War
policy, reaction of the general Americans, and Lousy
American security system. Film-maker Michael Moore
criticizes Bush’s presidency policy and named him as a
deserter who launch a war on Iraq instead of focusing on
getting the real culprit Bin Laden. This documentary also
focuses on how some Saudis were safely and secretly
flown out of America while planes were ostensibly
grounded after the attacks. Archived film footage, candid
interviews with politicians, and an overall waste of public
funds for a war that was initiated on false pretension to
wit: a weapon of mass distraction - to take the focus
away from the real enemy and get Americans glued to
their TV sets to watch innocent Iraqis and Afghans getting
killed. And a war that would eventually alienate the U.S.A.
and it's citizens from almost every country on Earth.
When that treachery hits with the 9/11 attacks, Moore
explains how Bush failed to take immediate action to
defend his nation, only to later cynically manipulate it to
serve his wealthy backers' corrupt ambitions. Through
facts, footage and interviews, Moore illustrates his
contention of how Bush and his cronies have gotten
America into worse trouble than ever before and why
Americans should not stand for it. Michael Moore
characterized Bush as incompetent, dishonest, and failed
president.

I think this movie support mainly Conflict Theory and
oppose the Functionalist Theory. The United States and
Western Europe had exploited the people and natural
resources of the Middle East for decades without offering
any economic and educational support to the people. The
United States supports capitalism and dictatorial regimes
and ignored human rights. To ensure oil supply, United
States inhumanly attacked Iraq and killed thousand of
civilians of Iraq, who were never posses any threat to this
country. To extend power Bush send American military to
Iraq, who were not only enjoying the war but also torture
the civilian prisoners by making video while touching
genitalia. Bush was a man, who owed a lot of friends,
including those who helped bail him out of business
ventures- like Saudis who invested 1.4 billion in Bush’s
family enterprises, James R Bath who represent as Texas
money manager of Bin-ladens. So after attack White
house helped the Bin-ladens members flew out of the
country while attacking innocent Iraq who were not
involved in the conspiracy of 9/11 atttck. The war itself,
Moore considers unjustified because it has no relation alQaida and put Young American soldiers in a bad situation.

The War in Iraq which began in 2003, according to
Functionalist theory, was fought to secure security and
avoid terrorism. But, we saw Bush send inadequate
amount of troops to capture Al-Qaida and gave them 2

months time to get prepared. Instead of securing the land
Bush tried to secure his own money and tried to create
fear among the general population via media. He didn’t
invest money to boost up the security and safety of the
Americans. While terrorist threaten to attack the world
trade center, Bush totally ignore the issue and divert
general public attention toward Iraq by conveying false
message.
According to the Symbolic Interactionist theory,” Iraq war
was fought to send a message to Islamic terrorists that
US cannot be attacked with impunity, and to support the
image of non-white, non-Christian people as dangerous to
our way of life.” I think the unjustified misery of Muslims
caused by United States is the provoking factor for
terrorist attack. Bush didn’t support the image of nonChristian people and he thought they were threat to the
United States. His prejudice about Middle Eastern people
bring the misery not only to the Iraq but also to the
United States.
