GENERAL RULES

AND

REGULATIONS

1. Decision of Management and judges would be final and cannot be
challenged.
2. Themes/medium/titles and time limit to be followed strictly.
3. 1st prize shall be awarded for each category only.
4. Use of indecent language, derogatory remarks on important
personages, national leaders, political parties, Government Agencies,
religious sects, teachers (whether direct or implied) are strictly
prohibited.
5. Any team found involved in any type of cheating (PDAs, Palm-tops and
cell-phones) will be disqualified with immediate effect.
6. All participants must bring their NIC (if any) and their Student ID card
(mandatory) to identify them as currently enrolled student of the
institute. Participants who would fail to show the above stated, would
not be allowed to take part in competition.
7. Accompanying instructor’s institutional ID card and 2 passport size
photographs are obligatory.
8. One team from each Institution is allowed in each particular event of
the festival.
9. The planned schedule will be provided by the management. The
schedule will be executed strictly. No proposed changes will be
entertained.
10.
The maximum age of the participant must fall under 29 years.
11.
Any participant involved in any indecent and unethical activity
will be disqualified.
12.
Participants themselves shall stand responsible for their luggage
and equipment. Management will not take any responsibility in case of
any damage or loss.
13.
Institutes shall stand responsible and will be claimed for any loss
or damage to the venue and or equipment by the students of the
institute respectively. Also the respective involved participants will be
immediately disqualified from the event.

1-ARTS COMPETITION
Painting and sketching are the forms of art consisting of an artistic composition
made by applying paints and drawing in a unique style on the theme given.

WORK:

 Two entries per institution will be allowed:
o Sketching
o Painting
 Medium
o Pastel Sheet
o Scholar sheet
 Theme will be provided by the management.
 Sketching/painting should clearly reflect the theme.
 Name and titles must be mentioned at the bottom/backside of the entry
 Participant cannot claim back their work.
 All Materials will be created on spot.
 Deadline of submission is 30th April 2014

2-BATTLE

OF THE BANDS

Battle of bands is a contest in which many bands, usually rock/guitar
bands but often from a range of different styles, compete for the title of
"best band. Participants having passion for music and singing can make
themselves to come ahead and compete at the battle of bands along with
their band members.

REGULATIONS FOR BATTLE

OF THE BANDS

 For the purpose of this competition, a band is defined as “having a
minimum of 2 and maximum 6 members with at least 1 member
playing an instrument through the majority of each song.”
 Bands must be signed and approved by management.
 The performance must be suitable for a family audience.
 Band name, lyrics, props, and gestures must not contain or depict any
of the following:
 Violent imagery
 Derogatory remarks based on ethnicity, gender, race,
sexual orientation, or disability
 Vulgar or objectionable language
 References to drugs, alcohol or other forms of substance
abuse
 Each band chosen to compete at the Battle of the Bands will have
10 minutes to perform. When a band is finished performing, all
band members and their equipment is to be removed immediately
so the next band can setup. Management is not responsible for
anything.
 Failure to comply with any of the above regulations will result in
immediate disqualification of the offending band and registration fee
will be forfeited.
 All judges decisions, including but not limited to compliance with
contest regulations and selection of bands to compete are final.
 The management reserves the right to make any necessary changes to
contest rules and has the final word in any disputes that should arise.
 Deadline of Submission is 30th April 2014

3-DECLAMATION COMPETITION
Declamation competition will be bilingual and the team of two participants
will participate from each institute. There will be serious as well as humorous
topic in the competition and one member will speak on serious topic and
second team member choose the humorous topic.

DECLAMATION

1. The competition will be bilingual i.e. English and Urdu
2. From each participating institute, there should be a team of two
speakers, one English and one Urdu, one speaker will choose the
humorous topic and the other one has to take the serious topic.
3. Evaluation will be based on the contents, language, pronunciation,
presentation, style and oratory.
4. Duration of each speech should be between 3-5 minutes. The first bell
will be rung after 3 minutes and the second one after 5 minutes. If the
speaker fails to leave after the second bell, his/ her marks will be
deducted.
5. Paper reading and consultation of notes is not allowed.
6. The content of the debate must not contain slang, abusive or
inappropriate language.
7. Violation of any rule may lead to deduction of points or may even lead
to disqualification.
8. Decision of jury will be final and cannot be challenged.
9. Deadline of Submission is 30th April 2014

4-Dramatics Competition
Dramatics/theatre performances has always been proved to be the one of
the best way to communicate, the thought provoking message whether in a
comic way or in a serious way. Keeping in view the spirit of theatre,
dramatics competition is included in the Expo. Dramatics competition is
divided in different categories keeping in mind the both aspects,
entertainment as well as highlighting the issues in a serious way.

FOR

DRAMA FESTIVAL:

1. There will be four categories.
o One Man Show
Duration: 5mints
o MIME
Duration: 5-7 mints
Members: 5-8
o Group Play/Theatre Performance/ Comedy Skits
Duration: 8-10 mints
Members: 5-8
2. Theatre performance must be thematic and message oriented.
3. The plot should be original and made purposely for this competition.
4. Skits/Dramas containing any vulgarity will not be allowed to be
screened.

5. One table and two chairs will only be provided by the management
team.
6. Time limits will be strictly followed.
7. Host reserves the rights to assign performance slots to the participants
and once assigned will not be changed.
8. Slots are limited so the selection of the dramas will be based on the
quality of synopsis and the script of the play.

10. Title and synopsis must be submitted latest by 30th April 2014

5-Fashion Show
A fashion show: An event which includes models walk the catwalk dressed in
the different outfits from different institution to show their talent

Rules & Regulation for Fashion Show
 Each team should have a theme for their sequence. Categories are:
 General
1. Casual
2. Party wear
 Minimum number of participants per team is 6 in addition there should be
one person in charge for music and one for lights.
 One stage time for each team is limited to a maximum of 10 minutes. The
stage should not remain empty for more than 2 minutes in between the
sequences.
 Although overall presentation carries some weight, the participating
teams should remember that Fashion Show is not merely a choreography
competition.
 Music system will be provided. The teams are expected to bring their own
cassettes CDs/DVDs for the sequence(s).
 All clothes and accessories are to be arranged for by the participating
team. The organizing committee is responsible only for the infrastructural
facilities.

 Any form of obscenity will result in debarring the team from further
participation.
 All Material/ Costumes etc. for all events shall be arranged by the
participants
 Sleepwear, lounging, or swimwear’s are not appropriate at the state or
national level. In addition, other garments because of their length, glitz,
cut, or sheerness may be unacceptable. If in doubt, call the management
team at least 10 working days in advance of the contest. Those
inappropriately dressed will be asked to change (if possible), and if not,
they will be unable to participate.
 Members must be able to dress themselves.
 No family, friends, or other well-wishers in the dressing room/ back stage
 Do not leave the contest building for any reason (other than the
workshop) without permission from the contest chairs.
 Participants must be under 29 years.

 Title and synopsis must be submitted latest by 30th April 2014

6-PHOTOGRAPHY:
Photography is the act of taking and printing photographs activity and art of
creating still or moving pictures by recording radiation on a sensitive medium and
the theme given.

WORK:

 Two teams per institution will be allowed. Institution must confirm their
participation one week prior to the competition.
 Photography must clearly be student’s original work without editing and
effects.
 Student must have their own cameras, cables and needed things.
 Negativity will not be accepted and participant should stick to the theme.
 Participant cannot claim back their work.
 Work that is found copied from any source will be rejected.
 Deadline of team registration is 30th April 2014

ON-SPOT WORK:
 Theme will be decided by the participant inside the Venue.
 Only 5 photos per participant will be accepted.

 Deadline of submission is 2 hours before the competition of
photography.

7-SHORTFILM/DOCUMENTARY
Documentary film is a broad category of visual expressions that is based on the
attempt, in one fashion or another, to "document" reality. Students are encouraged
to show their talents and creativity.

WORK:

 Time Duration:
o Short film: 5 – 10 minutes
o Documentary: 5 – 7 minutes
 Material exceeding their time duration will not be screened.
 Theme will be provided by the management.
 The documentaries will be played on multimedia; therefore, they must be
formatted on CDs and DVDs. No USBs and other devices will be entertained.

 The students must bring an alternate copy of the documentary/short
film/music video in case the original does not play.
 Submitted work must clearly reflect the described theme.
 The work submitted must clearly be student’s original work containing
camera work, actualities and script. There should be minimum number of
stock shots/visual referral material
 Only one entry per institution will be allowed. Institution must confirm their
participation one week prior to the competition.
 Back ground research material /story board to accompany the documentary
 Songs selected for music video must be of Pakistani Singer.
 Material contain any vulgarity will not be allowed to be screened
 Negativity and material against national interest will not be allowed.
 The theme/script/conclusion of your work should be provided while
submitting your work (not more than 2pages).
 Participants cannot claim back their work from management.
 Deadline of submission is 30th April 2014

8-SINGING COMPETITION
Singing is a contest in which many individuals will perform on the
quality of their voices and compete for the title of "best Singer”. Participants
having passion for music and singing can make themselves to come ahead
and compete with different singers.

REGULATIONS FOR BATTLE

OF THE BANDS

 There are 2 categories for this competition and team will be
allowed to participate in only one category :
o Solo
o Duet
 For Solo, a participant will involve individually whereas for duet








performance, there will be two participants in a group performing
together against other participants.
Singers must be signed and approved by the management.
Songs Sung by Pakistani Singers will be allowed in the competition
only.
7 minutes time for performance will be given to every participant for
Solo as well as for Duet competition.
The performance must be suitable for a family audience.
Singers must be dressed in clothing free from obscenities or references
to drugs, sex, alcohol, or gangs.
Indecent lyrics are not allowed and will be subject to immediate
disqualification.

 Deadline of submission is 30th April 2014

9- AD CAMPAIGN COMPETITION
The communication as a creative profession has been the backbone of several industries. Print and
publishing, advertising, media, packaging, exhibition, web and signage industry. They also take care of
several of these functions; identity, branding, retail strategy, advertising, promotion. Developments in
digital technology have played significant role in the practice of this profession.

RULES & REGULATION

FOR

AD COMPETITION

 Identify, recommend and experiment new methods, features and
platforms of display advertising.
 Business ethics should be kept in mind.
 Only one entry per institution will be allowed.
 It should be student’s original work.

 Brand name for campaign will be “Moon Soon Weddings” wedding planning
services
 It should contain banners, streamers, standees, flyers, posters, news paper ad
etc.
 Deadline of submission is 30th April 2014

10-DANCE

COMPETITION

Dance competition always remains interesting for students. Registered teams will perform several
different cultural dances in front of judges who will evaluate and score each routine. In recent years,
style of dance has come to be viewed as a sport, demanding high levels of strength, stamina
and flexibility.

COMPETITION

 One team per institution will be allowed:
o Break Dance
o Cultural Group Dance
 The performance must be suitable for a family audience.

 Act containing any vulgarity will not be allowed to be perform.
 maximum 10 members

 Time duration: 5-7 mints
 Deadline of submission is 30th April2014.
