Merit Scholarships & Awards
Albright believes that students who have excelled academically and demonstrated leadership skills add to the quality of life at the College. For this reason, Albright offers a variety of scholarships and awards to entering students. All scholarships are renewable for full-time on-campus study, provided the recipient maintains the required grade point average. The process of applying for scholarships and awards is easy. Simply apply for admission by March 1 (July 15 for transfers). Once you have been admitted, your application is automatically forwarded to the Scholarship Committee for consideration. Please note: Awards are independent of scholarships. Typically, scholarship recipients also earn one or more awards. Transfer applicants are eligible for all awards except Scholar and Leadership Awards, which recognize high school achievement. To apply for financial aid from Albright, you must complete only one form: the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You will provide information about your family’s income and assets on the form, which you then submit to the U.S. Department of Education. You should submit your FAFSA over the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible after January 1. So that they may qualify for the full range of financial aid programs, we recommend that students complete the FAFSA by March 1. When you complete the FAFSA, be sure to indicate that the form is to be sent to Albright College, code number 003229. To determine your family’s financial strength and calculate the amount your family can contribute annually toward your educational expenses, a formula set by the federal government is applied to the figures you provide on the FAFSA form. The number determined by the FAFSA formula is called the Expected Family Contribution (EFC). This information is sent to you and to each college you designate to receive the information.

Making Albright Affordable
For many families, one of the most important factors in selecting a college is cost. At Albright College, we have a different way of thinking about choosing a college. We believe that it’s most important to find the right college match. Our goal is to eliminate finances as an obstacle so you’re able to choose the college that best fits your personality and interests. We want you to choose Albright because of the quality of our academic and extracurricular opportunities, as well as the exceptional warmth and friendliness of the Albright community. Fortunately, Albright has numerous financial resources available. If you decide Albright is the right match for you, you will find an Albright education both affordable and a real value for the money. AFFORDABILITY: Don’t confuse our “sticker price” with what it will cost you to attend. We offer numerous well-funded merit scholarships and generous need-based financial aid. Most scholarship winners also receive need-based financial aid. VALUE: When Barrons Best Buys in College Education notified us of Albright’s inclusion, the book’s editor wrote: “. . . you give parents and students the most for every dollar they spend at your college.” If you or your parents have questions after reading this brochure, please contact us. The Admission Office may be contacted by phone at (800) 252-1856 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Sincerely, Gregory E. Eichhorn Vice President for Enrollment Management and Dean of Admission

Financial Aid
Because we know that many families will be unable to meet the cost of an Albright education with family resources alone, we strongly encourage you to apply for financial aid. Financial aid is awarded to students based on their family’s demonstrated financial need. Students who receive scholarships are also eligible for financial aid. At some colleges, admission decisions are influenced by whether an applicant applies for financial aid. Albright’s admission decisions are independent of requests for financial aid.

Estimating Your Eligibility for Financial Aid
To help you understand how your financial aid package will make an Albright education affordable, we have provided examples below of financial aid awards prepared for the 2009–2010 academic year. Please be aware that financial aid eligibility is determined on an individual basis; similarities with these examples may not result in similar financial aid awards being offered upon review of your application for financial aid.

Family assets may affect family contribution

If you are interested in an early estimate of your eligibility for financial assistance, Albright College will calculate an estimate based on information received from your family. You may request an early estimate by contacting the Financial Aid Office. You may estimate your family’s contribution at any time by using the FAFSA4caster. This calculator can help you estimate the amount of money the federal government will expect you and your family to pay toward higher education costs. The web site is www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov
