Welcome to this Olympic year’s 3rd edition of Fleet Matters and I do hope that the Fleet Matters formula is becoming more familiar. Once again we’re focussing on new developments, particularly our Salary Sacrifice and Driver Training offerings. In addition we’re covering news items about clients, partners, competitions and our most important asset, our Staff. Despite the depressed economic climate of recent years Fleet Hire has continued to invest in its operational infrastructure to ensure that its personal, flexible approach to business is supported by leading edge ‘touch of the button’ fleet management technology. This combined with our strong financial base ensures that Fleet Hire is able to compete strongly on every level. Congratulations to FMG on winning the Risk Management Award for Ingenium Dynamics advanced driver behavior management system at this year’s British Insurance Awards. As business partners to Fleet Hire, FMG provide a first class accident management service to our clients and are worthy winners of this prestigious award. A spokesperson for the British Insurance Awards judging panel, said: “The solution was highly rated for demonstrating significant tangible benefits and helping pioneer an industry step change. Ingenium Dynamics was a big hit with the judges.” Ingenium Dynamics aims to improve driver behaviour, by making it easier to identify, manage and remove risk. With 90 assessors all retired police traffic officers, the 3.5 hour session focused on defensive driving designed to minimise risk, reduce stress and optimize fuel economy. After being assessed for an hour you receive a comprehensive debrief, followed by the instructor driving to show areas that need improving. I was made aware that my road position was not always optimal and my habit of occasionally driving too close to other cars on a motorway that could not only affect my stopping reactions, but was limiting my view of traffic some distance ahead of me." “I strongly recommend this course, being confident that the health and safety, fuel economy and insurance saving dividends to be gained from the programme will more than pay for it.” For further information call 0844 85 45 100.

Council Chooses Fleet Hire Salary Sacrifice Scheme

Rugby Borough Council have launched their new car salary sacrifice scheme with Fleet Hire under it’s Car Salary Selector brand. Covering the Council’s 550 staff the scheme was formally launched last month following a programme of direct employee communications including specific marketing and a number of presentations to employee groups. Doug Jones, head of business transformation for Rugby, said: “Following our supplier assessment, Fleet Hire and its Car Salary Selector product stood out with its flexible approach and impressive technology platform. Having the option to work with a business that is so customer focused and offers its product proactively into the sub 1,000 employee market was also a big advantage for us. We were also extremely keen on the specific risk mitigation on unpaid leave events that this product could offer and the removal of risk to the Council. Overall our key objective is to deliver a valuable and easy to use benefit to our employees and the reaction to the scheme has been extremely positive.” The scheme allows employees access to the fully automated web platform where they can select vehicles to maximum of 160g/km CO2 covering all manufacturer groups. Fleet Hire currently has 23 car salary sacrifice schemes and exchanges in operation following the formal launch of its product Car Salary Selector in August 2011. These arrangements cover both private and public sector clients ranging from 250 to 2,000 employees. Fleet Hire currently has another five schemes under implementation due for launch this year.
Welcome to Joe Bryan who joined Fleet Hire in July as Sales Manager specialising in Public and Private Sector Fleets bringing with him nearly 40 years’ experience in the industry. Also, a big Welcome Back! to Claire Desmond who returns from maternity as Customer Support Executive concentrating on Customer Services, De-fleets and End of Contract procedures. We’re delighted to have Claire back after the safe arrival of beautiful Noah.
Congratulations to Simon Forrest, Redditch and another reader in West Sussex who both receive a Travel DVD Player for being the first two correct entries in our competition. The correct answer was:- As a visitor which country are you not allowed to drive in? B) Bermuda.
