Director’s Cut by Mike Jones
“Hellfire and Brimstone”
By the time I was saved, as a young boy, I had already heard hundreds of sermons (my dad was a preacher). So what was the sermon that God used to pierce my young heart? It was an old-fashioned “Hellfire and Brimstone” message on a dark Sunday evening. Say what you will, but it brought me to the altar in tears of repentance, because I did not want to die and go to that place. As I shared this testimony with a man recently, he said, ”You sure don’t hear those kinds of sermons much anymore. I guess preachers don’t want to scare people away from church.” As I thought about that later I realized he might be right. But then, isn’t it better to scare people out of hell than keep them comfortable until they get there? feelings but not so concerned about their true spiritual condition. People don’t want to deal with the real issues of death and what happens afterward. Continuing tragedies like the shootings in Sandy Hook , the movie theatre in Colorado, etc. are blatant and painful reminders that life is fragile and death is real. I admit that I don’t know about all the emotional and psychological effects of

These days we seem to be more sensitive about everyone’s mental health and

such strong and direct preaching, but for me, over 45 yrs. later, I believe the spiritual, mental, and emotional effects are such that I still highly recommend this approach. In the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus in Luke 16, Jesus strongly illustrated the finality and eternality of death and the horrible and agonizing realities of hell. Should we do any less? This is why DIM is on the front lines with the Gospel. God is using different movies in different places to reach different hearts in different languages throughout the world. I hope you are blessed and challenged as you read this FOCUS.

Florida Property
Thank you for your continued prayers for the sale of the Florida property. Over the past few years the Board has examined many options of loaning, renting, or leasing the building during the process of trying to sell it. However, we continue to believe the Lord would have us keep it empty and ready for immediate sale. We also believe the Lord’s plan/time for the sale is perfect, and will bring glory to Him and blessing to the ministry. Recently, there has been renewed interest with several different companies inquiring/looking at the facility. Please pray for the Lord’s perfect will in this need.

All preliminary work is completed in preparation to begin construction on the first phase of the new headquarters/ministry facility. Our commitment to build debt-free and the need to sell the Florida property first are important factors that have us on “hold” at this time. We believe this facility is vital to give the ministry a visible home base and is conducive to growth, recognition, and financial viability.

Ministry Spotlight
General Fund
The “general fund” is the fuel, which powers most of the ministry, including general operating expenses, International ministry expenses, and Mobile Unit expenses. In the last couple of years, we have experienced some decreases in general fund giving, but mostly increases in costs (like gasoline) and increases in ministry, which result in more expenses. As the Lord continues to use and expand the outreach of DIM, the support base must expand with it. I believe that what the Lord wants to do He will pay for.

Therefore, I am proposing a couple of support clubs that I would ask you readers and pray-ers to consider joining for this year. The first is the “25/50” Club…seeking 25 people to give $50.00 a month for 12 months. The second is the “2013” Club…seeking 20 people/churches/business owners who would give a one-time gift of $1300.00 sometime during the year. Remember, giving can be done by mail or online through the website. These two “clubs” along with current general fund supporters will enable us to stay current on expenses and increase our ministry potential as I believe God is directing for this year. If you would be willing to make one of these commitments, please let me know. Together we will experience God working in greater ways.
We know we can operate more than one team, we have people and leaders to be on the teams, we just need more equipment. Already three churches are indicating strong interest in supporting me! Praise the Lord! If you are in Michigan and would like to hear about the work in Romania personally or in your church, please call me direct at (231) 742-1454. I’d love to include you in my schedule!

I arrived home in the states on December 13 to be with my mom, dad, sister, and nephew for Christmas. Mom and Dad both had birthdays, and their health is very good right now! Thanks for praying for them. I will be spending January through April contacting churches, supporting and non supporting, to present the Romania ministry. I need 15% more support, or about $480 per month, $1000 per month for ministry funds, and would love to raise money to buy 2 more vans, and outfit them for next summer.

movie to a local Boys and Girls club. 4. I was invited to present Gospel Magic at a Christmas Block Party in a neighborhood with an organization called Change Bridge (they give food, clothes, or furniture to needy families). More than 3000 people attended. Please pray with us that we will not miss an opportunity, no matter how unusual, to share Christ with others in 2013.

A gift was given to Drive-In by Pat Harper, in memory of Mrs. Eloise Hammond. A gift was given to Drive-In in memory of Mrs. Harriet Beard. She was the beloved wife of Drive-In Board member Mr. Ken Beard. Please keep Ken and family in your prayers during this difficult time. We’re thankful to know that because of her relationship with Christ, she is now in heaven with her Savior.

December was an unusual time for us with opportunities we have never seen before. 1. We helped with a projector and screen at a tent revival for migrant workers in Dover, FL. 2. I was invited to a local Karate school to present Gospel Magic at their Christmas party. 3. A Pinellas Park church asked me to show a Christmas
