Being tired is no fun at all. You can't concentrate at work, you exercise less, and getting out of bed takes a lot of effort. It's a miserable way to trudge through life. But did you know that having more energy may be as simple as choosing the right foods? Overall, the key is to focus on low-glycemic foods (because they release energy slowly) that are high in complex carbohydrates and low in excess fats. Iron is also very important because it produces red blood cells that carry blood to exercising muscles. A first step is to eliminate "quick-fix" foods that contain simplex carbohydrate foods, like candy bars and soft drinks, which spike your energy level before it plunges quickly. Next, start incorporating these 10 foods into your diet.

1. Whole grains. They're high in fiber (which can help slow the breakdown and absorption of sugar) and complex carbohydrates. They also contain antioxidants similar to those in fruits and vegetables. Additionally, they reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Adults should eat 6 to 11 servings of whole grains per day. Examples include whole grain breads, pastas, and rice.

2. Oatmeal. According to the American Dietetic Association, oat products are some of the best sources of soluble fiber. You can combine oatmeal with raisins, honey, and yogurt for extra flavor and energy. 3. Bananas. This fruit is packed with potassium, which helps your muscles contract. One per day prevents stiffness that comes from sitting at a desk. 4. Orange Juice. This drink is ideal for the morning and is extremely high in vitamin C, which helps you get the most iron out of other foods.

5. Pasta. When athletes "carbo-load" before a game, they usually eat a big plate of spaghetti. It's extremely high in complex carbohydrates and low in calories, fat, and sodium. 6. Salmon. This fish is high in protein, and its high concentration of omega-3 fats and B vitamins can boost your cardiovascular health. 7. Beans. A small, powerful vegetable packed with protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, beans can be used in creative ways. Add them to soups, burritos, pastas, and dip spreads. In 2005 the Department of Agriculture recommended that Americans eat three cups of beans per week.


8. Dried fruit. These high-energy, low-fat snacks are easy to pack and almost never go bad. Try a medley of apricots, figs, and raisins. However, be aware that some commercially packaged dried fruits contain sulfur dioxide, which has been shown to increase your risk of asthma. 9. Almonds. Ounce-for-ounce, this is the most nutrient-dense nut. Research has shown that adding two ounces of almonds to your daily diet increases your intake of vitamin-E and magnesium. 10. Yogurt. Quick, easy, and delicious, yogurt is available in a variety flavors. One cup of lowfat yogurt contains almost 13 grams of protein and 17 grams of carbohydrates-just what you need for great energy.

According to Dr. B.A. Roy, sexologist, “Nutrition plays a vital role in lovemaking. Fresh fruits like apple and green vegetables are very nutritious and can stir libido to revive sexual function.” He further adds “Onion, garlic and drum sticks too can be used; in fact they are used for medicinal purposes. With hectic work schedule and peer pressure, many are falling prey to

eating disorders which can ruin your sex life in long run.” The quality of our food has a great deal to do with the quality of our sex. Drinks A night of passion can always be intensified with the addition of a favourite wine. What better way than sipping luscious red wine to give your time together a relaxed mood. Naturally, if you can get hold of vintage brands like Sassella, Brunellos and a nice French Chateau, it is adds to the occasion. Champagne is also known for its sexual properties. Wines are better than spirits or beer, because too much alcohol can affect your sexual performance too. What's more, "nut oils are nowhere near as harmful as saturated fat or trans fats," Lieberman says. "In fact, recent studies show that nuts help reduce cholesterol." 4. Pumpkin Seeds: "In addition to being a rich source of zinc, pumpkin seeds are packed with nutrients, including the antioxidants selenium and vitamin E, which are good for the arteries," Bonci says. 5. Olive Oil: Saturated fat and trans fats narrow the arteries, but monounsaturated fat, found in olive oil, helps keep them functioning well. 6. Wheat Germ: It's difficult to get enough vitamin E from diet alone, but wheat germ is a particularly good source. "It helps keep the arteries healthy," Lieberman says. 7. Oysters: This shellfish has a centuries-old folk reputation as a "virility food." Scientists scoffed - until they discovered that oysters are also very rich in zinc, which is essential for men's reproductive and sexual function. But if you eat them raw, be sure they're fresh and from uncontaminated waters, or your evening of get-down could turn nasty.

The occasional food splurge won't destroy your mojo overnight, but consuming too many of the worst nutritional offenders is likely to sap your function sooner or later, adds Leslie Bonci, M.P.H., R.D., director of sports nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a nutrition consultant for the Pittsburgh Steelers. "It's not that you have to avoid bad foods entirely. But eat them sparingly, and base your diet on the foods that are good for sex and for your body as a whole."

Low-fat milk and cheese can be excellent protein sources, as long as you aren't allergic or sensitive to them. But think twice about opting for their higher-fat cousins. "Many men know that meats cause problems, but don't know that full-fat cheeses are just as bad," Lieberman says. "The worst mistake is to combine meat, milk and cheese - for example, a bacon cheeseburger with a shake. A meal like that is loaded with saturated fat and, over time, can reduce blood flow into the penis." Which could eventually leave it softer than warm brie. Merde! 3) Baked goods: The trans-formed man When hydrogen is added to vegetable oil to change it from a liquid to a solid, the result is something called trans fat. The prime example is margarine, but you'll also find this kind of fat in a wide variety of crackers, cookies, chips and fried fast foods. And it's bad - real bad. "Trans fats are worse for the arteries than saturated fats," Bonci says. The Food and Drug Administration is planning to require that trans fats be listed on food labels, but until then cut back on any products that contain "hydrogenated" or "partially hydrogenated" vegetable oil, or margarines that aren't labeled "trans fat-free."
