GATE EXAM The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country by the GATE Committee comprising faculty from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board-GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. WHY GATE EXAM? Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD and some other Government scholarships/assistantships in engineering colleges/institutes is open to those who qualify in GATE examination. Taking a cue from Indian Oil Corp (IOC), several other public-sector oil companies, barring Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), are looking at hiring engineers in entry-level positions based on the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Last year, IOC, India’s largest fuel retailer, had recruited 200 engineers on the basis of their GATE scores. GATE qualified candidates with Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture or Master's degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications are eligible for admission to Master's degree programmes in Engineering/Technology/Architecture as well as for Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of Science with MHRD or other government scholarships/assistantships. To avail the scholarship, the candidate must secure admission to such a postgraduate programme, as per the prevailing procedure of the admitting institution. However, candidates with Master's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture may seek admission to relevant Doctoral programmes with scholarship/assistantship without appearing in the GATE examination. GATE qualification is also a minimum requirement to apply for various fellowships awarded by many Government organizations. Suggested Books for GATE Preparation:

ACCENTURE PAPER ON 4TH SEPTEMBER AT CHANDIGARH
Hi everyone, I am Pankaj Sharma,ece(3rd year) from Desh Bhagat Engineering College, Mandi Gobindgarh. Recently a placement drive was held by Accenture in Chitkara Institute of Technology, Chandigarh and by someone’s grace, I was selected.

The selection process was divided into four divisions: written round, the group discussion, HR interview and Technical Interview in the order mentioned above. THE WRITTEN ROUND: for the written round preparation from r.s aggarwal’s verbal and non-verbal reasoning and quantitative aptitude by the same author are enough. The questions asked were on time and distance, work , arithmetic based on interchange of mathematical symbols THE GROUP DISCUSSION: the students were divided into groups of fifteen . the topic for our group was ‘transition from college life to corporate life’. Actually, the gd in our group quickly turned into a fish market and those who managed to stay cool were selected. I acted like a co-ordinator as best as I could under the circumstances and it paid off. The mantra is to maintain your cool , listen attentively to other people’s view point , speak with confidence and never look in the direction of the co-ordinator. THE HR ROUND: The hr personnel was a cool guy and the interview moved as follows: Q. how did your percentage drop from 90.4 in class 10 to 74 in class 12 A. told the reason Q. ok, pankaj , what is your passion. What do you like to do in your free time? A. told Q. what is success? A. told Q. what is failure? A. told Q. why should we select you? A. told Q. ok pankaj thank you A. thank you sir I believe that the hr personnel mainly checks your command over the English language and your general trend of thought THE TECHNICAL ROUND: As I am from ece, I believe I had an advantage as only one question from oracle, and that also because I had written in my c.v. that I knew oracle , was asked . the rest were general questions like what is your greatest achievement, what kind of a project do you want to design in the future , etc. The key is to believe in yourself and not worry. Thanks for reading !!! Meet you at Accenture!!!

Accenture came in Jaypee Noida about 284 students were placed.

Selection procedure. Round 1: Apitutde test. Questions were similar to previous papers on this website. So, do them with time. Time is one of the basic factors in this test. Plus we also had to write a essay on Nature vs technolgy, but it was not evaluated or asked in any of the interviews. Round 2: Technical interview. He asked me about my summer project. I explained it in detail then what all challenges you came across. All answered. They just check your confidence and how well you know what you have written in your CV. Round 3: Tell me about yourself. Answered then, she asked me. If you are in a group of 5 students wherein 2 students are unable to do the technical like programming etc. But can interact well then what will you do. I answered I will try to give them easy modules which they can do and help them to learn some technical knowledge. Then she asked me what can you tell me about Accenture which you think I don't know. I replied that Accenture's main asset is its people whereas everything is on lease from table to buildings. etc. Then she replied so you think that I dont know. Then I just smiled. After she had some questions written in the form like place, any gap in studies etc. He was just ticking yes or no in the from she had. After wait of one day, the list of selected students was put up. Fortunately I was selected. Best of luck to all.
