Play Ball, Finally: After seeing Friday’s early game against Southland Vikings delayed for two hours and the exhibition game called early, three games were postponed due to the field conditions. Friday night’s storms caused multiple trees to fall over around Brennan Field, and a few of them struck the fences and has left the field unplayable for now. Home Away From Home: Will County will be returning to Wayne King Jr. Field at Joliet Junior College to play three home games over two days. Wayne King Jr. Field is now the home of the Illinois Lincolns and was the home of the CrackerJacks during their MCL title run in 2011. Including the playoffs, the ‘Jacks were 12-4 at home in MCL play last season. First On The Line: The winner of today’s game between the CrackerJacks and Lincolns will take over first place in the MCL. This game marks the halfway point of the season for the ‘Jacks and each game is becoming more important than the last for positioning in the playoff standings. Over The Hump: In two games against the Lincolns so far this season, the CrackerJacks are 0-2. The ‘Jacks have been outscored 16-9 and the starting pitchers, Jack Rogalla and Ben Gullo, have each had their struggles. However, the starting pitchers only allowed a combined four earned runs, while the Lincolns have scored seven unearned off the starters due to the seven errors the CrackerJacks have committed in those two games. The Lincolns remain the lone team in the MCL the CrackerJacks have yet to defeat. Double Down: The CrackerJacks have done a great job of picking up doubles this season, as they are second in the MCL with 48. They are now only one double away from tying the franchise record for doubles in a season, and Shaun McGraw is only one double away from tying the franchise record for doubles in a season by an individual. Daniel Nevares and Jacob Thomas are only two doubles from the record as well.
