For kids:
Aardvark Relay
To play this game, you will need to divide the group into teams (the number of teams depends
on the area you have available and group size).
You will need some equipment for this game. Place empty bowls on one side of the room,
and bowls full of dried peas on the other side. Make sure the
re is an equal number of peas in each bowl. Give each team member a straw.
The aim of the game is for each team to transport a small pile of dried peas from a bowl on
one side of the room to another bowl on the other side, using only their straw. They do this
by sucking through the straw so the pea stays fixed to the end of the straw. If they drop the
pea they must pick it up again using the straw
The winning team is the one that transports all the peas first.
Heads or Tails
A very simple game for all group sizes. Have everyone stand up and either put their hands on
their heads or their 'tail'.
Flip a coin and announce what side the coin lands on:


If it lands on heads, everyone with their hands on their heads is out and must sit down



If it lands on tails, everyone with their hands on their tail is out and must sit down.

Everyone who is left then chooses again whether they put their hands on their heads or tails.
This continues until there is one person left who is the winner!
(If there are two people left, they must choose different ends so there is a winner).
Musical People
A twist on Musical Chairs... minus the chairs you dont need much for this game.
Rules: people must walk around the room, spread out, not in clumps. They listen to the
music playing. The person holding the music player/ phone stops the music and calls out
"groups of 4" or "groups of 7" and those people must make groups of the numbered called as
fast as possible. The group of people who has less people than called out number is out, and
the music starts playing again and again until the person playing music stops it again and
yells "groups of 2" whoever cannot fulfill the number called is out.

Introduce a Friend
I recently played this game with a group of people I'd never met and it worked really well as
a get-to-know-you game.
Split your group up into groups of pairs - each person has to spend 3-4 minutes learning three
things about the person they have been paired with. For example, their name, their favorite
sport and number of siblings.
After 3-4 minutes, reconvene and each person has to introduce the person they were paired
with to the rest of the group. For example: "This is Tom, he likes to play baseball, and he is
one of three boys".
Banana Surgery
Split your group up into smaller groups, and give each group a banana, cutting board and
plastic knife. Each group should cut the banana into 4 or 5 equal sized pieces. (don't tell
them what the next steps are at this point).
Then hand out banana surgery kits - pins, string, sticky tape, tooth picks, rubber bands etc.
The goal is for each group to reassemble the banana.
The lesson from this game is that some things (relationships, trust, reputation, bananas!) are
easy to break but more difficult to put back together.
Bibbidy Bop Bop
Everyone sits on chairs in a circle. Choose someone to stand in the middle. This person then
points at someone and says "Bibbidy Bop Bop". The person they are pointing to must say
"Bop" before they finish, otherwise they then become the person in the middle.
If the person in the middle says anything other than "Bibbidy Bop Bop" and the person they
are pointing to says "Bop", they are out and become the person in the middle.
Birdie on a Perch
Ask everyone to find a partner so everyone is paired up in groups of two.
Have them decide who is the birdie and who is the perch.
All the birdies stand in a circle and all the perches stand in a circle surrounding the birdies.
Have some music ready.
When the music starts, the birdies walk clockwise around the circle and the perches walk
counter-clockwise.
When the music stops, the birdies must find their perches and sit on them (the perch kneels
on one knee, making a perch out of the other leg).
If you don't have music, you can just have a leader yell "Birdie on a Perch!"

The last couple to pair up is eliminated and the object is to be the last couple left.
It's more fun if you make them move quickly in their circles so that they are at least jogging.

Body speller
Form two or more teams. Then have team members take turns standing in front of their
teams and spelling out words or phrases for the team to guess. The speller is not allowed to
speak or mouth the words. You'll assign various methods that kids can use to spell the
words. For example, the spellers may only be able to use their index finger, or even their
feet. A point is awarded to the first team to guess the word or phrase.
Distinctly Beautiful
For this game you will need paper and a pen/pencil.
Background info: This game is meant to build up the self esteem of youth. Sometimes they
may look at themselves and see something they don't like. This game is focusing on what
makes them beautiful in their own way. It was inspired by a preaching, a movement started
by a poet, and Song of Solomon 4:7
Now get everyone in a group, or they can separate themselves if they want to. It would be
best if they are separated that way there is no outside influence or anything that may change
what they feel (more explained later).
Make sure each person has a pen and a paper in hand. Tell them to write "i am distinctly
beautiful because..." a certain amount of times (5,10,12. the more times written the better
they can build up their self esteem) down the left hand side of their page. Now they all write
reasons why they are beautiful after "i am distinctly beautiful because...". When everyone is
done, they can share one or more reasons if they wish. When they have shared, read Song of
Solomon 4:7. This usually works best in a preaching.
Encouragement game
This game is a potential life changing game. It works best for groups that know each other
reasonably well.
Sit in a circle and give everyone a piece of paper and pen. Each person should write their
name at the top of the piece of paper, then pass it to the person on their left. Each person then
writes one or two (or more) positive characteristics about the person who's name is at the top
of the paper.
After 30-60 seconds, everyone passes the pieces of paper around to their left again. This
continues until everyone has written on everyone else's paper.
A typical piece of paper would look like this:

The final step is that everyone receives their piece of paper back again.
It works best if you collect them and hand them out one at a time, so everyone can see
people's reaction seeing the positive comments about themselves. Depending on the make up
of the group, one option is to have people read out their own list. As some commentators
have pointed out below, it may be worth doing a quick check to ensure the comments are
appropriate and positive.
Done well, this is an incredibly affirming game and can be a night that people literally
remember for years to come.
For elders:
What I Loved To Do As A Child -- Elderly games can also involve fun reminiscing. For
this one, go around the room with each person discussing their favorite activity or hobby
when they were a child. Did they continue it as they grew? Why were they attracted to
that activity? Are they still interested today? Do they still participate? If not, would they
like to? If the activity is no longer possible to participate in, is there any way it can be
modified in order to still enjoy it? Would others in the room also be interested?
Sometimes interesting friendships or groups can be started this way, or interests
renewed. And it definitely will spark some fun memories and a few laughs.

Name That Tune
You can create your own version of the old TV game show. Gather together recordings of
songs from various eras. Play a particular song and see who can name it first. That
person wins that round, and play continues as long as you like. The ultimate winner is the
person who wins the most rounds.
