Dear Gomez Elementary School Parents and Guardians:
It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the passing of one of our beloved kindergarten students.
, 5, was a student in Mrs. Corral’s class.
died at home on Tuesday,
December 8. He will be deeply missed. All of us at Gomez Elementary School extend our deepest
sympathy to
’s friends and family.
Because we are a close school community,
’s death has touched us all. To help our
students and staff cope with this loss, the District’s Crisis Counseling Team was available today to
provide emo onal support to anyone who needed it. The Crisis Team will con nue to be available
to our students and staff, as needed.
It is difficult to predict how students may react to the death of a child who was close to them. The
following informa on may be helpful to parents:
⦁ Look for any behavioral/emo onal changes (ea ng, sleeping, recurring thoughts, etc.) in
your child, which may indicate that he/she is having difficulty coping.
⦁ Allow your child to discuss and express his/her feelings with you and understand that
he/she may want to talk more than usual with people in his/her support system.
We have not yet been informed of the family’s memorial and funeral wishes, but when we receive
this informa on, it will be available at the school office. Our sympathy is extended to everyone in
the community who has been impacted by
’s passing. Please call our school at 383-8159 if
you want your child to meet with a counselor to help them process this event. If you have any
further ques ons or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call our school.

School damos nuestro más sincero pésame a la familia y los amigos de

Debido a que somos una comunidad muy unida, el fallecimiento de
nos ha afectado a
todos. Para ayudar a nuestros alumnos y personal sobrellevar esta pérdida, el Equipo de
Asesoramiento en Caso de una Crisis del Distrito estuvo disponible hoy para brindar apoyo
emocional a quienes lo necesitaban. El Equipo de Crisis seguirá disponible a nuestros alumnos y
personal como se necesite.
Es di cil predecir cómo los alumnos reaccionarán a la muerte de un niño con quien estaban muy
apegados. La siguiente información puede ayudar a los padres:

Estén al tanto de cualquier cambio emocional o en el comportamiento (al comer, al dormir,
ideas recurrentes, etc.) en su hijo, lo que pueden indicar que él está teniendo dificultad en
sobrellevar la situación.
Permítanle a su hijo expresar o hablar sobre sus sen mientos con ustedes y en endan que
quizás quiera hablar más de lo normal con las personas en su sistema de apoyo.
Todavía no se nos ha informado sobre los deseos fúnebres y conmemora vos de la familia, pero
cuando recibimos esta información, se hará disponible en la oficina escolar. Nuestro más sincero
