Library Scene-Gatsby is masterfully in control of his image and identity -Gatsby’s identity seems to shift, it is hard to pin-point -There are people who can see through fake identities and can see to the true identities of those fabricating them. -Gatsby built upon what people thought of him -He needs an identity that will keep people interested in him -Gatsby has been living in the past, when he was with Daisy -Nothing can waver Gatsby’s idea of Daisy -Gatsby is living in the past, but when he sees Daisy again time seems to stop and fall apart, and eh tries to save it. Daisy’s Voice: “Her voice compelled me forward breathlessly as I listened…” p.14 “Opening up again in a flower like way…” p. 19 “The exhilarating ripple of her voice was a wild tonic in the rain…” p. 85 “Her throat, full of aching, grieving beauty…” p. 89 “I think that voice held him most, with its fluctuating, feverish warmth…” p. 96 “Daisy’s voice was playing murmurous tricks in her throat…” p. 104 “Daisy began to sing with the music in a husky, rhythmic whisper, bringing out a meaning in each word that it have again…” p. 108
