Cody Baker Mr. Nueburger Comp 101-102 September 22, 2011 Paragraph Essay Competition Kurt Vonnegut Jr. wrote the short story “Harrison Burgeron “, which had the plot that was set in the year of 2081. In the short story everyone was equal, well if everyone was equal then there would be no competition to help make our planet better than what it is. “They were equal every which way.” (293). If the people didn’t have competition, then there would be no different countries, athletes, education, or government. Without competition our planet would have one person who would have made up the rules that would make the people equal and they would lead our planet, and have successors to follow them. “Agents of the United States Handicapper General”. (293) The world has its problems and so does every country, these problems are caused by competition and resolved by people competing with each other. If our planet had no competition then our world would be in a worse condition that what it already is. This world needs competition to help make the planet better and to make other people better.
