How Do You Know That You’re Really In Love? 1. LOVE ACCORDING TO THE DEFINITON OF THE BIBLE 1Corinthians 13:4-8 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. LOVE IS PATIENT: Love doesn’t hurry things up. No matter the distance, never grow tired of waiting, never change. It remains still, firm, pure and strong. Love knows how to wait for the proper time and place. LOVE IS KIND: Love is a giver without being expectant. Love rejoices in giving without counting and expecting for anything in return. LOVE DOES NOT ENVY (is not jealous): It doesn’t envy whatever your partner has which you don’t have. It may be in the form of material things, characters, kinds of people he/she has in life, achievements and status. It is not even jealous without any basis and drastic reasons. Jealousy is not always healthy in a relationship though sometimes it may be a good sign that you don’t want to lose your special someone... but getting jealous without any evidence is IMMATURITY! LOVE DOES NOT BOAST: Others get into a relationship that they may have something to be proud about. Others find it cool if they have girlfriends or boyfriends because it speaks about their charisma. Having no emotional attachments for a time means you’re not attractive enough. Others get into a relationship because they can boast about their partner. They boast about their beautiful gf or their hunk boyfriend. Real love is not all about these. LOVE IS NOT PROUD: The word “proud” comes from the word “pride”. It’s when you don’t know how to humble yourself. When something went wrong in the relationship, one won’t initiate the apology. Pride makes you resist one another. Love is not proud.

LOVE IS NOT RUDE: Love is not rude both in actions and in words. Some couples thought it’s okay to hurt one another through a slapping, hurting physically, or throwing harsh words to their partner. Love is gentle in actions, in words and even through the tone of the voice. Fights and conflicts are normal in a

relationship. But the way the couple handle them defines whether they have the characteristics of real love. LOVE IS NOT self-seeking: It doesn’t just want to satisfy its selfish desire. Others are only after for what they can only benefit from their partner or from the relationship. Others, at times, they always want to be pleased while in the relationship, when they get offended, they want out. It is not surprising indeed to see relationships came crushing here and then, leaving many hearts broken. LOVE is not all about oneself. It’s about sacrificing, and giving what you can give to the relationship, not what you can get. LOVE IS NOT EASILY ANGERED: Rather, love is considerate, easily understands, not judgemental and not easily get into conclusions. It does not get easily angered. LOVE KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS: Love always forgives, and easily forgives. It doesn’t keep pains and grudges. It counts no sins and fall shorts of the pasts. It sees no wrongs. It always sees the beauty of the person rather than its limitations, weaknesses and mistakes. LOVE DOES NOT DELIGHT IN EVIL BUT REJOICES WITH THE TRUTH: Meaning the real love has a clear sense of what is right and wrong in the eyes of God, and stands firmly for what is right. This, even if it means sacrificing your own happiness. LOVE ALWAYS PROTECTS: Real love seeks to protect the one you love. If you surely know that these things can harm your partner, can ruin his/her life, family and future, can cause shame and disrespect to him/her, do away with it. If other people mistreats him/her face-to-face or at the back, you have to fight for him/her.. LOVE ALWAYS TRUSTS: Trust doesn’t just rely on feelings. Sometimes you feel like doubting the one you love, but then, TRUST is a decision. You have to deliberately and intentionally decide to TRUST even in the midst of confusions or doubts, unless you really have the reason to doubt him/her. LOVE ALWAYS HOPES: Even if it feels like there’s no more other way, you still find hope. In the midst of a worst fight or problems, still the positive spirit is never losing. Thinking and hoping that "everything's gonna be alright sooner", knowing that LOVE conquers all. LOVE ALWAYS PERSEVERES: Think of the times that you feel like giving up, that you feel like quitting. Those are the best times for you to get reminded that LOVE doesn’t easily give up. It perseveres whatever happens. Amidst the problems, conflicts, persecutions (from family, friends, or other people), real love remains still to the end.

LOVE NEVER FAILS: I believe there’s no such thing as perfect love nor relationship in this world, but why does the bible says LOVE NVER FAILS? We are all prone to failures due to our imperfections. But God revealed to me the truth that that is because, REAL LOVE lasts forever that’s why it never fails. When all else fail, love still remains and endures until the end, no matter what. 2. Real Love is like the love of God for humanity (AGAPE LOVE). Agape means in spite of: -who you are -your weaknesses -bad habits and characters -poverty and wealth -sickness and health -deformity -social status -academic attainments 3. Real Love seeks Approval of Families/Parents, friends and spiritual mentors: >>Parents should be aware, though parents really have something to say at first, but don’t fear, rather open to them; make your family your circle of best friends whom you can confide anything. By then, your relationship will be well-guided. As you both grow in your relationship together, you will also grow in the relationship with each other’s family too. >>Friends Support: friends who also have relationship with the Lord is more preferable because they certainly have the wisdom of the Lord to advice and watch over you. They have the positive influence that would edify your personal life and your relationship as well. >>Spiritual mentors also has impressive role to preserve the relationship. Open rebuke from spiritual leaders undeniably hurts, but the right heart knows how to listen and to submit and willing to change for the better.. :)) One of the greatest things that could happen to your life is having some people who speak over your life. It’s all for your own good. 4. LOVE BRINGS OUT THE BEST IN YOU >>Love increases self-esteem Love builds your self-confidence up, it makes you become tougher and courageous, you become active and diligent in everything you do >>Love encourages doing better When you found love, the real one, your performance is getting better, in school, in work, in church ministry, in social relationships and even at home. >>Love makes you a better person The changes start at home. When you become more diligent in household chores, you forget about

frowning, and even your spiritual maturity levels up. You emit a different kind of aura. The way you face problems in all aspects of your life also change. >>Love is always after for what’s best for you whatever that’s good, it is being pursued, not just the things that can make you happy for the meantime but compromises each other’s future.

5. LOVE IS GOD-CENTERED >>Living up God's standards and values Love follows the principles in the bible. The fact that LOVE comes from God, only God knows how it works. Real love also submits to the spiritual mentors’ counsels. >>Helps each other to become strong in the Lord One of the key determinants whether a certain relationship is founded in real love or not, is that the relationship should help strengthen each other spiritually. One prays for the other and vice versa. You help each other strengthen in the Lord and not to be the reason to draw each other away from the Lord. Part of conversations always include asking ‘how is your devotional?’, ‘how’s your prayer life?’ or ‘what are your prayer requests?’ >>Fears the Lord This is considerably very important. The fear of the Lord must be the driver of the relationship. We can fear our parents or our spiritual parents for that matter, when they are around but freely compromises when they are not. If the relationship fears the Lord, wherever you both are, whoever you are with or without, you are conscious from sinning and compromising because you don’t want to grieve and displease your God. >>Jesus is the centre of the relationship Jesus must be pleased first. He also is the first refuge and consultant when relationship is failing; even in decision-making He is involved. If the Lord is the centre of the relationship, there is inner joy, inner peace and security in the relationship and there is a relatively different level of trust and faithfulness to each other. No matter how almost-perfect a relationship may seem, without the Lord, it can be easily be easily shattered at any moment at a certain circumstance. The Lord is the ultimate author and source of real and lasting love. If you have Jesus in your relationship, you’ll have the sweetest lasting relationship ever!
