How to change the wireless network password
If you want to change the password to your wireless network, it’s quick and easy to do. 1. Double-click on the Wireless Manager icon on your computer’s desktop:
The Network Manager screen opens, similar to the one below, showing the details of your network:
2. Click on Change. The following screen opens:
3. Type in the current password in the Current Password text box.
4. Type in the new password in the NEW Password text box, then type it again in the Confirm NEW Password text box. As it says on the screen, this needs to be at least 8 characters long, and is case sensitive (so, for example, “n” is not the same as “N”). Make a note of the new password, as our technical support team have no way of finding this out if you forget it. 5. Click on Change Password to confirm the change. You’ll get confirmation that the password has changed, then the Network Manager screen opens again. 6. If you have any other computers or wireless devices connected to the router, repeat steps 1 – 5 for each of them, and use the same password each time. That’s it! Your wireless network password has been changed

Oh and just a quick note to start off: please, please don't connect your cable modem to your wireless router until you're told to. Thanks and have fun with wireless Broadband.
First things first
We know you're keen to get started, but before you start plugging everything in, take a minute to read through these instructions. Whether you're a new customer setting up Broadband for the first time, or an existing customer adding wireless to your set-up, this guide will help you get up and running in minutes. Make sure you follow each step in the order listed, or you may have problems with your wireless service. Note:
• • •
Don't connect any PCs to your wireless router via wired (Ethernet) connection before or during set-up. If you're an existing customer, the new set-up disk supplied with your wireless package should be used. From now on, don't use any previously supplied installer disks. If you're adding a PC or laptop to an existing wireless home network, go straight to Step 8 below and follow the instructions.
•
Don't connect your wireless adapter to your PC until instructed by the Installation Wizard in Step 8.
Before you begin
Make sure you have all the items below:
• • • • • • •
Wireless router. Ethernet cable (yellow). Power supply. Router stand. Wireless Set-Up CD and Set-Up Guide. USB wireless adapter for desktops (optional: only if ordered). Wireless card for laptops (optional: only if ordered).
Your cable modem is not provided in this pack – it should've been installed separately.
Setting up
Make sure you follow each step in the order listed, or you may have problems with your wireless network. Step 1 First disconnect the power cable from the cable modem. Step 2 If your cable modem is connected to your PC, disconnect it. You no longer need this cable. Step 3 Place your wireless router close to your cable modem and near a wall power socket, using the stand included if you need to. Step 4 Connect one end of the yellow Ethernet cable to the 'Internet' port on our wireless router (the label is on the back of the router). Then connect the other end of the yellow Ethernet cable to your cable modem. Step 5 Connect your wireless router and cale modem to the power. Note: To make sure you get the best out of your wireless connection bear in mind the following when positioning your wireless router:

Keep as far away as possible from potential sources of interference common sources are digital cordless phones, baby monitors and wireless video senders). Where possible, position in line-of-sight of other equipment; this should provide maximum performance. Place as high and clear of obstructions as possible. Keep 2 feet away from metal features such as sprinklers, pipes, metal ceilings, reinforced concrete and metal partitions. Keep away from large amounts of water such as fish tanks or water coolers. Thick walls and a large distance between the wireless router and your computer can affect signal performance.
Step 6 Check the light on the front of your wireless router. If you've connected everything correctly you should have a solid Power light and a solid Internet light (though this might flicker occasionally).
Step 7 Now insert the Virgin Broadband Wireless Set-Up CD into your computer's CD drive. After a few seconds the Installation Wizard should appear. Follow the on-screen set-up instructions. At the end of installation please click "Finish" to move to wireless set-up. Software will then start and you'll see a screen prompting you to start setting up your wireless network. If the programme doesn't start automatically, click the My Computer icon on your desktop, or on the Start menu. In My Computer, double-click on the icon for your CD drive. The Wizard will then launch. Note: if you've ordered a wireless adapter (such as those shown below) don't connect it to your PC until indicated by the Installation Wizard. Step 8 When you click 'finish' on the final screen your installation is complete. Don't forget to remove the CD from your computer and keep it safely in its case with this Set-Up Guide – you'll need it if you want to add more computers to your wireless network. Congratulations! How do I change the Virgin Media Hub's administration interface password?
The Virgin Media Hub has its own administration interface, which can be used to configure advanced settings that control the operation of the Hub. To protect the Hub's settings from being altered by an unauthorised user, you may wish to change the password required to access the administration interface.
Changing the Virgin Media Hub's administration interface password
1. Look for the information panel on the side of the Hub. This will contain the settings you need in order to access the Hub's administration interface.
2. Open a Web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and then enter the address from the information panel – it should be http://192.168.0.1
3. When prompted, enter the username and password for the Hub's administration interface. Again, these details are printed on the information panel on the side of the Hub. The password you enter here is the one that is about to be changed, in order to protect the Hub's settings from unauthorised alterations.
Once the username and password are accepted, you will be presented with the Hub's administration interface. 4. In the Maintenance section on the left of the screen, click Set Password.
Note: this screen does not allow you to change your Virgin Media account password (the one you use for email, etc.). To do that, please use My Virgin Media. 5. Choose a new password for the administration interface and enter it into both fields, then click Apply. If the page reloads, you may be prompted to enter the new password once more in order to continue using the administration interface. You can now close the browser window. The next time you try to access the administration interface, remember to use the new password instead of the one printed on the Hub's information panel.
Note: if you ever forget the new administration interface password, you can set it back to the default password by resetting the Hub (this will also reset all other changes you have made to the Hub's settings).
