Bibliography
Use the Council of Biology Editors (CBE) style manual. Find this in Ref Works through the UMD library web page. Only list references that you read and use in your presentation. List references in alphabetical order according to the last name of the first author of the publication.
Bibliography
Spell out only the last names of authors; initials are used for first and middle names. Latin names, including genus and species names, are placed in italics or underlined . Titles of journals are NOT enclosed within quotation marks.
Abstract
The abstract is a short general summary of the experiment and the major conclusions drawn. Don’t discuss actual data or particular results For examples of abstracts, search PubMed from the library indices and databases for a topic of your choosing. Click on the “lined paper” icons for abstracts. Must include abstract on your seminar posting.
Abstract
250 words or less in one single paragraph Should make sense to someone not familiar with the topic Must contain complete sentences and good grammar. (no contractions) Use passive voice i.e. “this study showed that…” Contains no bibliographic info, references, acronyms, abbreviations, or figures.
How to Use Power Point
Avoid heavy slides. Stagger when possible. Use a readable font. Use text as a prompt. Use special effects judiciously.

Email me your topic choice and the three dates you would most like to give your seminar by Monday Sept 18th at 10:00 am. Dates must be M,W between Mon Oct 30th and Wed Dec 6th (omit Wed Nov 22nd ?)
