Bucharest, Romania, August 2nd, 2013 – Libra Internet Bank, one of the most
innovative banking services providers in Romania, announced today that it will replace
the out of date systems used currently in the production infrastructure, with top systems
provided by IBM in order to increase the performance and the efficiency of the banking

Libra Internet Bank is currently modernizing several technological components. The

responding to the strategy named “Internet Bank” in order to provide an optimum quality
of the banking services. Also, the banking services provider decided to transfer the
existing systems to a new, scalable and virtual infrastructure, which offers extended
hardware resources for the new modules and operational features and a higher speed of
the data processing applications. The new infrastructure will help in fulfilling the client’s
main goal: the separation of the development environment from the production
infrastructure. Also, using the IBM systems, there will be developed the contingencies
recovery infrastructure – an important part in the business continuity management at
Libra Internet Bank.
“Banking services providers need smarter solutions to transform and accelerate the
banking processes. The Big Data analytics systems are playing key roles in helping
organizations improve efficiencies, increase productivity and they are enabling greater
and faster access to business insights, which is fundamentally transforming the ways in
which organizations, public and private, are interacting with and supporting their
customers’’, said Valeriu Nistor, Country Director, IBM Romania. ’’IBM Flex System
meets such client’s needs.”
Due to this contract, Libra Internet Bank will be able to use IBM Flex System, designed

for the next years. These features and capabilities meet bank requirements - a new
banking infrastructure easily to manage, scalable and more efficient in terms of
performance, cooling and energy consumption. The Flex Systems configuration will
increase and will enhance the network and storage efficiency by 40%. Using the new
solution, Libra Internet Bank has a separated Production environment of banking
solutions and can use the equipment delivered by IBM in order to build the Development
and Contingencies Recovery infrastructure.
“A bank, like Libra Internet Bank, which is oriented to online services and applications,
has a continuous need of optimizing the IT infrastructure in order to be aligned with the
evolution of the technologies available on the market. We need ample storage space,
flexibility in the system operation and an optimal level of safety and compliance with the

specific banking requirements. It’s a complex process, and we are happy to count on a
partner like IBM, which has an important experience in this area. The support provided
by IBM, Cybernet and IBM Innovation Center, along with the IBM specialists team, led
to the success of this project”, said Florin Barbu, IT Division Director, Libra Internet
Bank.
The IBM Flex Systems will help Libra Internet Bank increase its workload performance
and reduce the servers’ footprint and power consumption. The centralized administration
will simplify the administrator’s tasks and will allow them to take care of all
environments without increasing their workloads. It is estimated that the features and
capabilities of the new solution will reduce the operating expenses by 30% and will
enable future upgrades and business growth.
Libra Internet Bank will now use IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis with two Chassis
Management Modules, IBM Flex System Fabric CN4093 10Gb Converged Scalable
Switches and IBM Flex System x220 Compute Nodes with VMware vSphere 5
Enterprise.
IBM’s solution will allow Libra Internet Bank to gain more customers, to increase the
quality of the banking services provided and to offer new features suited to customer’s
needs. The implementation of this solution and of the contingencies recovery
infrastructure will ensure Libra Internet Bank an increased level of availability for their
