LETTER FROM THE DEAN
Now more than ever, the global business world is calling for well-prepared business leaders – those who possess wisdom and knowledge, solid business skills, a global mindset and a desire to make a positive impact on society. Our MBA program was specifically created to develop this kind of leader. Its unique curriculum combines a general management perspective, an international focus and a deep understanding of the global business arena, all structured within an ethical framework. For more than 50 years, IESE Business School has been committed to developing exceptional executives and entrepreneurs who also have the desire to make a positive and lasting impact in the world. With students from more than 50 countries and faculty members reflecting around 30 nationalities, the IESE MBA stands out for its global focus and character. The program’s case method offers a powerful approach for gaining critical analytical and decision-making skills. Our graduates, however, say the IESE community itself is one of the most enriching aspects of the program. For 19 months, students interact daily with dedicated faculty members and talented peers in an atmosphere of trust, collaboration and shared values. The rewards of this experience last a lifetime. If you are seeking an MBA program that will transform you both professionally and personally, I invite you to learn more about IESE and its Full-Time MBA program. Warm regards,

Jordi Canals Dean of IESE Business School

IESE’S FULL-TIME MBA
IESE Business School’s MBA program takes a holistic, general management approach, giving students the skills and tools they need to become highly effective leaders in a global business environment. Top-ranked among MBA programs worldwide, the program prepares well-rounded business leaders who are dedicated to making a positive impact on society.

MBA PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

THE CASE STUDY METHOD
IESE professors widely employ the case-based study method, which comprises roughly 80 percent of the curriculum. This practical, hands-on approach strengthens students’ analytical and decision-making skills as they probe real business problems and scenarios. During the program, students explore more than 600 real cases that reflect business situations in diverse industries and geographic areas.

“The case study method is a comprehensive approach. The professors present a situation and give you the opportunity to immerse yourself into a company or a crisis. Personal analysis combined with team and classroom discussions help you dissect the issue from numerous vantage points. This exhaustive examination allows students to gain insights on how they might handle a similar challenge in the future.”
David Edwards (MBA ‘10) United States. He studied law at the University of California-Los Angeles. Before starting his MBA, he worked in advertising and business development in New York City.

IESE ’s 19 -month MBA program stands

out for its high-quality curriculum and the distinctive learning experience it offers. Because the program is bilingual (English-Spanish) and highly international, students acquire vital language and cross-cultural skills that have a long-term impact on their careers. A general management view is taken throughout the program, with different business disciplines taught as interrelated subjects. The MBA seeks to develop students’ ability to assimilate information quickly, isolate problems efficiently and hone self-leadership skills. The program is aimed at highly motivated students who have earned a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and who have several years of work experience.

This approach also lends itself to the global focus of the program. Within a collaborative environment, students and professors – who reflect many different nationalities – carry out an active dialogue, while exchanging ideas and perspectives.

A GLOBAL MBA
The MBA’s bilingual curriculum allows students to live and study in both languages. The student body is highly international and represents more than 50 countries. Faculty members reflect nearly 30 countries and hold Ph.D.s from the world’s most prestigious universities. Case studies and coursework are based on international business scenarios. World business leaders and heads of government regularly visit the campus for special conferences, speaker series and keynote addresses.

ABOUT IESE
Created in 1958, IESE Business School is a pioneer in international business education. The school established its Full-Time MBA program – the first of its kind in Europe – in 1964 under the guidance of the IESE-Harvard Advisory Committee. IESE develops business leaders who seek to make a positive impact on the global business world through their professionalism, integrity and spirit of service. With this in mind, the MBA takes a comprehensive view of organizations, while emphasizing ethics and the impact of business decisions on individuals and on society as a whole. IESE is an initiative of Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Roman Catholic Church. The school’s values stem from the Christian tradition, which advocates the intrinsic rights and dignity of each individual. Following this, emphasis is placed on the ethical dimensions of decision making, indispensable for personal growth and corporate sustainability.

CURRICULUM & CALENDAR
THE FIRST YEAR: GENERAL MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVE
In the first year, students are assigned to small teams that are carefully crafted to ensure the widest possible mix of academic, professional and cultural backgrounds and perspectives. These study groups become a vital reference point, while fostering a spirit of collaboration that extends across the student body as a whole.

The MBA curriculum provides a solid management foundation, treating essential business areas as integrated parts of a whole. The program’s challenging workload helps students assimilate information quickly, isolate problems efficiently and hone the time-management skills needed in today’s demanding business environment.

SUMMER TERM: CORPORATE INTERNSHIPS
Students take interrelated courses covering key business areas, which integrate an international perspective and ethical decision making. Each weekday morning, teams meet to discuss the cases prepared the day before. Team sessions focus on identifying root problems and presenting analyses – a necessary task before entering the classroom. During the summer between the first and second years, students have the option of participating in a corporate internship anywhere in the world. Corporate internships offer a perfect avenue to explore new sectors, companies and countries. They add to the global dimension of the program and are often a source of job offers after graduation.

LIFELONG CAREER SUPPORT

The IESE MBA opens the door to a lifetime of career opportunities and support. From their very first day on campus, students receive guidance from the school’s Career Services team to help them clearly identify their professional goals and aspirations. After graduation, IESE’s alumni community provides an invaluable professional network that spans the globe.

IESE ’s individualized approach to career planning equips students with the right skills, tools and knowledge for a successful job search. Students have the resources they need to achieve their goals, not just immediately following graduation, but throughout their careers.

COMPANIES ON CAMPUS
The premiere recruiting event of the year is IESE ’s Career Forum, held every fall on the Barcelona campus. As one of Europe’s largest recruitment fairs, the forum draws representatives of leading companies from all over the world to make presentations and conduct recruitment interviews. A significant proportion of the year’s recruitment for corporate internships and positions after graduation takes place during the forum; most of the jobs secured by IESE graduates come as a result of Career Forum contacts. Career Days and Corporate Information Sessions held throughout the year bring companies and students together in hundreds of on-campus interviews. Participation in professional student clubs – such as the Consulting Club, Entrepreneurs Club and Marketing Club – further promotes contact between students and industry leaders.

The first year of the program covers career strategy, self-assessment and function-specific résumé workshops. It features an overview of IESE ’s many resources and tools to plan, launch and build careers. The second year focuses on refining career-management skills: interviewing, networking and negotiation, and career counseling and coaching. Throughout the entire MBA program, Career Services specialists work one-on-one with students to provide personalized counseling and support.
