University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics POSITION: Assistant Director for Group Sales and Marketing Twelve month, 100% Academic Professional Appointment POSITION DESCRIPTION: University of Illinois Athletics is looking for a highly-motivated sales and marketing professional who wants to build a career in the sports business. This position is responsible for generating revenue through group sales, as well as assisting the Marketing department in promoting athletic events. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:             Sell group ticket offers and packages to clients Generate new sales revenue using all sales methods, including cold calls, face-to-face appointments, prospecting and networking Develop new and creative sales strategies and group ticket promotions and packages in conjunction with the Marketing staff Attend team and community events to maximize sales opportunities Provide game day support for current clients and to identify new prospects Responsible for the implementation and activation of group incentives Maintain accurate records of all prospecting activities and closed sales Create and maintain database of new and current group clients Establish professional relations with corporate clients to create repeat business Responsible for ongoing communication with clients to ensure customer satisfaction Serve as liaison and contact between corporate entities, Athletics Box Office staff and other Athletic staff as it relates to client needs Other duties as assigned by the marketing department

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s  degree  required.  Knowledge  of  Microsoft  Office  Suite.  Excellent  oral  and   written communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Represent the University and Illinois Athletics in a professional manner. Quick decision making and problem solving. Detail oriented. Ability to work with little supervision. Ability to work irregular hours including nights and weekends. SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications. STARTING DATE: As soon as possible after closing date.
