MASSILLON It was a hot day for cool
vehicles.
Sunbeams bounced off the shiny
chrome and polished paint of the
restored decades-old cars, trucks
and motorcycles that lined Lincoln
Way downtown Saturday. People
of all ages peered under antique and
modern hoods and walked around
classic and customized rides in all
shapes and sizes.
One of the city’s biggest events
downtown, the 27th annual CruiseOn-In & Dance Party saw a nice
crowd with about 400 registered
vehicles, said Charlotte Studer, car
show chairwoman. Studer has been
involved with the show with her husband, Dick, since it began. Besides a
car show, the day included contests
and musical performances on stage,
fair food and fireworks.

PERRY TWP. Hours before the
Cleveland Cavaliers beat the
Golden State Warriors 93-89
in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, a
bartender glanced back at the TV
screen before popping a cap off a
beer.
Not long after, fans at the
Game Time Bar & Grill applauded
when the Cavs sunk their first
basket.
People turned in their seats to see
one of the 28 screens showing the
game. One hung above the table
where Lisa Miku, of Perry Township, sat with a group of friends.
She watched most of the Finals at
home, but said she wanted to “be
part of the excitement” for this one.
“It’s history in the making,”
Miku said.
It marked the Cavs’ third
appearance in the NBA Finals,
and many fans where hoping it
would result in team’s first title.
The San Antonio Spurs defeated
the Cavs in 2007, and the Warriors defeated the Cavs in six
games last year.

Donna Dannemiller and her husband of more than 45 years, Timothy,
attended a funeral of a family member
about a year ago where he had been
cremated.
The Jackson Township woman said
with the body not placed in an open
casket, the service was more about
celebrating the family member’s life
than mourning his death.
“We came away (saying) that’s
what we want when it’s our time to
go,” she recalled. “We wanted our
grandchildren and our children to
remember us in our life and the sweet
memories. Not to have that image of
us in a casket in their memory.”
