Registration Fall 2012
** Phase II registration: now – August 24th ** Note: Incoming Freshmen will register during FASET or assigned registration time • IP Globally-Focused Coursework: As registration comes, keep in mind the three global coursework areas that
you must complete: 1) International Relations, 2) Global Economics, 3) Country of Regional. Check the details on the Coursework Requirements section of the IP Website, and see next page.

• Language Courses:

¿Ya la tomaste? All students must take through at least the 2002 level or equivalent of a language other than English. Consider your language needs and the IP language requirements when signing up for summer and fall classes. Students studying abroad or working abroad this fall for the 1st and/or 2nd term of their IP international experience must have the term(s) approved for the IP. To gain approval, please complete the International Experience Approval Form and see advisement and signatures from the representatives listed on the form. It is highly recommended to have this form completed and turned into the Office of International Education before Phase I registration so that you can sign up for the IP audit course (no credit/no homework!) for the semester you’re abroad. • (Note if this is your 2nd term, and you have already submitted an International Experience Approval, you do not need to do so again, unless there was a change to your plan).

• Study and Work Abroad:

Language not taught at Tech? No problem!
**IP Students may cross-enroll with another institution as early as 2nd semester of freshman year to take language courses not offered at GaTech.
• Info: Cross enrollment and concurrent registration are available only to degree-seeking juniors, seniors, and graduating students, except during the Summer term, when concurrent registration is available to all degree-seeking students. Ordinarily students will not be allowed to participate during their first term at Georgia Tech, nor will students be allowed to cross enroll for more than two courses per term. Special rules apply to students participating in the GTREP and RETP programs. International Plan students may cross enroll or register concurrently for a language course(s) NOT offered at Georgia Tech as early as the second semester of their first year of enrollment. Special permission to do this will be granted to accepted IP students ONLY. Forms and procedures are available from the Registrar's Office. Any student seeking an exception to these eligibility requirements should contact the Office of the Registrar. Requirements: • Students must be registered for at least three or more credit hours at Tech • Students must be in Good Academic standing at the time of enrollment • Courses taken in cross-enrollment must be completed with a C or better to count. New International Plan Tracks Portal for all IP majors!!
You now have the opportunity to view examples of coursework and international experiences that will match both your major and the language you choose for the IP. This new portal provides one example amongst the many ways to fulfill the requirements for the International Plan. We encourage students to use this portal as a starting point, but also consult academic and study and work abroad advisors to select coursework and international experiences that match your own goals. Please see the link below for details. http://www.internationalplan.gatech.edu/iptracks

For Current and Future Graduating Students
IP Degree Designator

• Once the IP is worked into DegreeWorks, it will also be added to the new Online Application for Graduation. For now, students petitioning to graduate with the IP Designator must still complete the IP Degree Designator Form (hard-copy; on Forms section of website: http://www.internationalplan.gatech.edu/forms ). • Please note this form has changed: The Office of the Registrar has requested that the IP designator forms be collected and submitted by the International Plan Assistant Director. Therefore, students will obtain academic unit signatures first, then submit the original copy to the IP for the final approval.

RATS week: August 16th -> 26th

Time The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. and will end at 6:30 p.m. Location, Directions, and Convocation Parking The convocation will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), Exhibit Hall C. **Transportation: Shuttles will be provided from all Freshman halls on both East/West campus

R.A.T.S. Week welcomes new students to Georgia Tech through programs that offer information, fun activities, opportunities to get involved, and events where they can meet other students. R.A.T.S: "Recently-Acquired Tech Students," and acknowledging new students as such is one of the many treasured traditions at Tech. There is more behind the R.A.T.S. program than little yellow hats. The tradition of wearing the cap, with careful attention to the many rules on the hat's upkeep, is still regarded. Many organizations, especially the GT Band, make sure each year that the RATS tradition is kept alive.

Have you met your IP Faculty Representative? This person is a great resource who can help you develop the coherence of your personalized International Plan, will approve your international experience, supports students if you need to petition an IP regulation, and helps students develop their IP capstone projects. These faculty members also form a committee that helps drive the academic policies of the International Plan.
