OFFICE OF GOV. BILL RITTER, JR. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MONDAY, APRIL 21, 2008 CONTACT Evan Dreyer, 720.350.8370, [email protected] GOV. RITTER APPOINTS NEW DENVER DISTRICT COURT JUDGE Gov. Bill Ritter today appointed Edward David Bronfin to a newly created seat on the Denver District Court bench. With 27 years as a practicing civil attorney, Bronfin has been a lawyer in private practice with Kennedy, Childs and Fogg since 1995. He specializes in medical malpractice cases, representing physicians and health-care providers. He also handles administrative matters before the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners. Bronfin also has experience in insurance law, personal injury claims, product liability and product injury cases, as well as securities litigation and Colorado Consumer Protection Act issues. He received his bachelor’s degree from St. John's College in 1978 and his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 1981. After graduating from law school, he was a clerk, associate and partner at Pryor, Carney and Johnson from 1981 to 1995. The appointment is for a provisional term of two years, and then until the second Tuesday in January following the next general election. Thereafter, if retained by the voters, the term is for six years. The current salary is $118,972. The seat was created pursuant to House Bill 07-1054.
