rubber hose assemblies for marine, defence and heavy industry.
Flexible engineering
We produce high-quality hoses for offshore, dockside, dredging and many
other industrial applications in sizes 50mm to 1000mm diameter and lengths
up to 12 metres. Our products range from solid rubber tubes and sleeves,
textile reinforced discharge hoses, fully embedded wire and tyre cord
reinforced suction hoses as well as complex heavy-duty structures;
incorporating steel rings for high vacuum and external crush-loading
protection.

Manufacturing capabilities
98,000 square foot manufacturing facility with eight hose machines: 4 x 12
metres, 2 x 6 metres and 2 x 3 metres long. Three autoclaves: 1 x 12 metres
(550mm diameter), 1 x 7 metres (1000mm diameter) and 1 x 6 metres
(400mm diameter).
Coupling systems
Steel components are produced in-house at our computer-controlled machine
shop (welding to ASME1X / BS EN287 - 1:2004 A1/2 2008).

lining to convey all types of petroleum products. Viton® rubber is also

specifically designed for individual terminal loading requirements. Tough
neoprene rubber protects the hose externally against oil, abrasion and

Ship-to-ship (STS) oil hose for lightering services
Helix-free STS hose for transfer of crude oil and petroleum based products.
High-strength thick-walled hose with pressure and fatigue-resistance and
high rebound-resilience.
Roof tank drain hose
Flexible hose assemblies for immersion inside storage tanks to drain
rainwater from a floating roof. Specially compounded covers are used to
resist immersion in high aromatic or corrosive liquids. Each hose assembly
incorporates a permanently attached lead covered stainless steel cable to
prevent the hose floating in the tank liquid. A permanent longitudinal white
stripe is branded on the cover to ensure correct alignment.
Bitumen hose
A robust rough-bore hose specially designed for the transfer of bitumen,
asphalt and tar at high temperatures. The composite heat resistant rubber
and fabric carcass is constructed on to a galvanised steel wire helix in the
bore of the hose. Together with the fully embedded wire helix in the hose
wall prevention of delamination is assured. A heavy glass fabric layer
immediately above the internal helix provides heat insulation.

Designed for use on outboard systems of cutter suction and trailing suction

of high angular deflection over short lengths.

Multiple layers of high-strength synthetic cord give shock-resistance and
stability under pressure. High-tensile steel rings give maximum vacuum
resistance and optimum flexibility for axial and angular movements.
Lining and cover
Elastomer qualities are formulated to offer maximum resistance to abrasive
and corrosive substances as well as external protection from sunlight
exposure and weathering.
Coupling systems
Integral rubber and fabric fixed flanges with vulcanised or loose steel backing
flanges or beaded end one-piece swivel flanges. Carbon and stainless steel
components are produced in-house at our computer-controlled machine shop
(welding to ASME1X / BS EN287 - 1:2004 A1/2 2008).
Tie-rods
Expansion joints are available with tie-rods for applications where axial
restriction is required.
Flexibility
A900 expansion joints are completely flexible and after compression or
extension will return to their original form, even after allowing for an extreme
range of temperatures.

Multipurpose hose
Designed for general-purpose industrial applications. Multipurpose suction
and discharge hoses can be made with all qualities of lining and cover
elastomers in varying thicknesses depending on internal and external
working conditions and severity of the application. We use multiple layers of
high-strength rubber impregnated tyre cord and single and multiple steel
wire helices, giving a minimum bend radius of 6 x bore size. All coupling
system combinations are available including wire-free plain or enlarged
cuffed ends; also incorporating 'capped' ends to protect the inner reinforcing
carcass from corrosion and contamination; increasing service-life. Cover
designs include smooth, corrugated and rope impression.

Water-cooling hoses
Designed to extend the life of critical water-cooling lines in extreme high
temperature applications in steel and glass works. These hoses feature a
double protective cover of specially compounded fire resistant chloroprene
rubber with a fully bonded external e-glass insulating fabric; providing
protection against heat, flame and molten splashes. High strength cord
layers give the hose suction resistance and stability under pressure. A fully
embedded steel wire helix gives flexibility and crush protection. For
additional shielding and abrasion resistance an external steel wire
armouring is also available. These hoses will withstand continuous external
exposure to 500°C.

Inflatable formers
Inflatable reusable pneumatic rubber formers with a unique reinforced core
which enables concentric inflation. They can be surrounded by concrete
which when set, allows the former to be deflated and removed, leaving a
smooth circular throughway. Their uses are numerous including chimney
lining, pre-cast voids and cable ducts. While the formers have high
circumferential strength, they are equally flexible in length enabling curved
as well as straight voids to be formed
Peristaltic pump hose
Specially developed for high impact-resistance and rebound-resilience when
handling abrasive and corrosive fluids and slurries. Multiple layers of highstrength synthetic cords are incorporated to give pressure and fatigueresistance; ensuring that the hose resumes its circular cross-section without
damage to the product or hose wall. The outer surface is ground smooth to
control the critical diameter and reduce friction; preventing damage from the
pumps' shoes.
Pinch valve sleeves
Rubber sleeves for pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical flow-control
applications. Designed for abrasive and corrosive powders and viscous
fluids such as slurries, cement, ash, pulp stock, waste water, chemicals, and
pellets. The sleeve provides the valve lining, flange gaskets, and seating
surface. Fabric or high-strength synthetic cord reinforcement provides
structural shoulder support to ensure the sleeve wall retains 'memory'. Pinch
valve sleeves are available with integral flanges, beaded ends or plain slipon configurations
Mandrel built tubing, sleeves and flexible connections
A range of mandrel built seamless rubber tubes, sleeves and flexible
connections produced with various wall thickness. Tubing and sleeves can
be produced in solid rubber or include plies of fabric or synthetic cord
reinforcement. Flexible connections can be made with a parallel or tapered
body and can incorporate an embedded steel wire spiral or separate steel
wire rings. Bellows are available with corrugated inner and outer surfaces to
dramatically increase flexibility. These designs are also available with
various coupling systems or plain ends.

Built-in and chemically bonded
Full-bore coupling system for medium to high pressure; non-corrosive and
non-abrasive applications. Metal fittings are built into the hose ends during
manufacture to form an integral part of the assembly. No external wire or
clamps are required as the fitting is chemically bonded into the hose and
mechanically locked with wire which is embedded in the hose wall between
the two cope rings, securely retaining the fitting in position.
Built-in rubber lined and chemically bonded
Full-bore coupling system for medium to high pressure; corrosive and
abrasive applications. Metal fittings are built and vulcanised into the hose
ends during manufacture to form an integral part of the assembly. The fitting
is encapsulated in rubber thus exhibiting a metal free lining. No external wire
or clamps are required as the fitting is chemically bonded and mechanically
locked into the hose. An embedded wire retains the fitting firmly in position
between the two cope rings. This system can be designed for the smallest
possible pitch circle diameters and is recommended for very heavy-duty
applications.
Integral fixed flange
Full-bore coupling system for low to medium pressure; corrosive and
abrasive applications. Reinforcing tyre cord plies, encapsulated in rubber
continue at right angles against the hose body into a flange. A steel backing
plate supports the flange. Elimination of a conventional hose tail allows the
hose to begin flexing immediately behind the flange; which is useful for
applications requiring a tight bend radius and a more uniform curvature. The
backing plate is vulcanised to the rubber and fabric flange; creating a onepiece unit. This system eliminates the necessity of a gasket yet provides a
fluid tight seal. The system can be incorporated into any hose type where a
smooth uninterrupted through bore is required. A rubber lining end-to-end
ensures that the conveyant has no contact with metal parts.

Double action integral flange
A further development of the integral flange. This system incorporates an
additional embedded steel plate within the flange structure. This resolves
many of the problems associated with pressure pulsation and/or end
load/stretch. This system reduces flange bending and loss of sealing at
higher pressures especially on flange drillings with a wide pitch circle
diameter.
Beaded swivel end
Full-bore coupling system for medium to high pressure; corrosive and
abrasive applications. A steel 'wedge' section ring is fully encapsulated in
rubber and fabric to create a bead. A one-piece rotatable flange sits on the
body of the hose against and on top of this bead. Elimination of a
conventional hose tail allows the hose to begin flexing immediately behind
the flange. This is useful for short hoses requiring a tight bend radius and a
more uniform curvature. A beaded end is capable of significant end-loading.
Internally swaged
Full-bore coupling system for medium to high pressure; non-corrosive and
non-abrasive applications. Modern industrial applications frequently require
increasingly high operating pressures. In order to comply with this, swaging
techniques have been developed for hose sizes beyond those commonly
found in hydraulic systems. Internal swaging provides a full-flow internal
diameter free from steps at the hose tail.
Cuffed ends – plain or enlarged
The embedded wire is terminated a set distance from the hose ends.
Designed to accommodate a hose tail, which can be banded, clipped-in,
wired-in or strapped-in. Ends can be enlarged to create a larger internal
diameter than the bore of the hose to facilitate the insertion of fittings where
an uninterrupted through-bore assembly is required.
The reinforcing carcase can be protected from corrosion and contamination
by rubber sealing the cuffed ends of the hose.

A900 expansion joints, flexible connections and bellows are designed and
custom-built to withstand the harshest environments to suit a wide variety of
working conditions and industrial applications.

Reinforcement
Multiple layers of high-strength synthetic cord give shock-resistance and
stability under pressure. High-tensile steel rings give maximum vacuum
resistance and optimum flexibility for axial and angular movements.
Lining and cover
Elastomer qualities are formulated to offer maximum resistance to abrasive
and corrosive substances as well as external protection from sunlight
exposure and weathering.
Coupling systems
Integral rubber and fabric fixed flanges with vulcanised or loose steel backing
flanges or beaded end one-piece swivel flanges. Carbon and stainless steel
components are produced in-house at our computer-controlled machine shop
(welding to ASME1X / BS EN287 - 1:2004 A1/2 2008).
Tie-rods
Expansion joints are available with tie-rods for applications where axial
restriction is required.
Flexibility
A900 expansion joints are completely flexible and after compression or
extension will return to their original form, even after allowing for an extreme
range of temperatures.

Multipurpose hose
Designed for general-purpose industrial applications. Multipurpose suction
and discharge hoses can be made with all qualities of lining and cover
elastomers in varying thicknesses depending on internal and external
working conditions and severity of the application. We use multiple layers of
high-strength rubber impregnated tyre cord and single and multiple steel
wire helices, giving a minimum bend radius of 6 x bore size. All coupling
system combinations are available including wire-free plain or enlarged
cuffed ends; also incorporating 'capped' ends to protect the inner reinforcing
carcass from corrosion and contamination; increasing service-life. Cover
designs include smooth, corrugated and rope impression.

Water-cooling hoses
Designed to extend the life of critical water-cooling lines in extreme high
temperature applications in steel and glass works. These hoses feature a
double protective cover of specially compounded fire resistant chloroprene
rubber with a fully bonded external e-glass insulating fabric; providing
protection against heat, flame and molten splashes. High strength cord
layers give the hose suction resistance and stability under pressure. A fully
embedded steel wire helix gives flexibility and crush protection. For
additional shielding and abrasion resistance an external steel wire
armouring is also available. These hoses will withstand continuous external
exposure to 500°C.

Inflatable formers
Inflatable reusable pneumatic rubber formers with a unique reinforced core
which enables concentric inflation. They can be surrounded by concrete
which when set, allows the former to be deflated and removed, leaving a
smooth circular throughway. Their uses are numerous including chimney
lining, pre-cast voids and cable ducts. While the formers have high
circumferential strength, they are equally flexible in length enabling curved
as well as straight voids to be formed
Peristaltic pump hose
Specially developed for high impact-resistance and rebound-resilience when
handling abrasive and corrosive fluids and slurries. Multiple layers of highstrength synthetic cords are incorporated to give pressure and fatigueresistance; ensuring that the hose resumes its circular cross-section without
damage to the product or hose wall. The outer surface is ground smooth to
control the critical diameter and reduce friction; preventing damage from the
pumps' shoes.
Pinch valve sleeves
Rubber sleeves for pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical flow-control
applications. Designed for abrasive and corrosive powders and viscous
fluids such as slurries, cement, ash, pulp stock, waste water, chemicals, and
pellets. The sleeve provides the valve lining, flange gaskets, and seating
surface. Fabric or high-strength synthetic cord reinforcement provides
structural shoulder support to ensure the sleeve wall retains 'memory'. Pinch
valve sleeves are available with integral flanges, beaded ends or plain slipon configurations
Mandrel built tubing, sleeves and flexible connections
A range of mandrel built seamless rubber tubes, sleeves and flexible
connections produced with various wall thickness. Tubing and sleeves can
be produced in solid rubber or include plies of fabric or synthetic cord
reinforcement. Flexible connections can be made with a parallel or tapered
body and can incorporate an embedded steel wire spiral or separate steel
wire rings. Bellows are available with corrugated inner and outer surfaces to
dramatically increase flexibility. These designs are also available with
various coupling systems or plain ends.

Built-in and chemically bonded
Full-bore coupling system for medium to high pressure; non-corrosive and
non-abrasive applications. Metal fittings are built into the hose ends during
manufacture to form an integral part of the assembly. No external wire or
clamps are required as the fitting is chemically bonded into the hose and
mechanically locked with wire which is embedded in the hose wall between
the two cope rings, securely retaining the fitting in position.
Built-in rubber lined and chemically bonded
Full-bore coupling system for medium to high pressure; corrosive and
abrasive applications. Metal fittings are built and vulcanised into the hose
ends during manufacture to form an integral part of the assembly. The fitting
is encapsulated in rubber thus exhibiting a metal free lining. No external wire
or clamps are required as the fitting is chemically bonded and mechanically
locked into the hose. An embedded wire retains the fitting firmly in position
between the two cope rings. This system can be designed for the smallest
possible pitch circle diameters and is recommended for very heavy-duty
applications.
Integral fixed flange
Full-bore coupling system for low to medium pressure; corrosive and
abrasive applications. Reinforcing tyre cord plies, encapsulated in rubber
continue at right angles against the hose body into a flange. A steel backing
plate supports the flange. Elimination of a conventional hose tail allows the
hose to begin flexing immediately behind the flange; which is useful for
applications requiring a tight bend radius and a more uniform curvature. The
backing plate is vulcanised to the rubber and fabric flange; creating a onepiece unit. This system eliminates the necessity of a gasket yet provides a
fluid tight seal. The system can be incorporated into any hose type where a
smooth uninterrupted through bore is required. A rubber lining end-to-end
ensures that the conveyant has no contact with metal parts.

Double action integral flange
A further development of the integral flange. This system incorporates an
additional embedded steel plate within the flange structure. This resolves
many of the problems associated with pressure pulsation and/or end
load/stretch. This system reduces flange bending and loss of sealing at
higher pressures especially on flange drillings with a wide pitch circle
diameter.
Beaded swivel end
Full-bore coupling system for medium to high pressure; corrosive and
abrasive applications. A steel 'wedge' section ring is fully encapsulated in
rubber and fabric to create a bead. A one-piece rotatable flange sits on the
body of the hose against and on top of this bead. Elimination of a
conventional hose tail allows the hose to begin flexing immediately behind
the flange. This is useful for short hoses requiring a tight bend radius and a
more uniform curvature. A beaded end is capable of significant end-loading.
Internally swaged
Full-bore coupling system for medium to high pressure; non-corrosive and
non-abrasive applications. Modern industrial applications frequently require
increasingly high operating pressures. In order to comply with this, swaging
techniques have been developed for hose sizes beyond those commonly
found in hydraulic systems. Internal swaging provides a full-flow internal
diameter free from steps at the hose tail.
Cuffed ends – plain or enlarged
The embedded wire is terminated a set distance from the hose ends.
Designed to accommodate a hose tail, which can be banded, clipped-in,
wired-in or strapped-in. Ends can be enlarged to create a larger internal
diameter than the bore of the hose to facilitate the insertion of fittings where
an uninterrupted through-bore assembly is required.
The reinforcing carcase can be protected from corrosion and contamination
by rubber sealing the cuffed ends of the hose.
