This is Rush Search Partners’ 212th search. Lewistown Hospital is a 139 bed financially stable rural non-profit hospital. The department of radiation oncology is currently expanding its services and thus has created this full time position. Currently the department is constructing a second vault that will house the latest version linac and adding a Nucletron HDR (including MammoSites) program. After the commissioning of the second linac the first will be decommissioned. Currently 25-30 patients are treated with IMRT and 3d with ADAC and DynArt. The hospital has a MRI and 16 slice Pet CT. You will join a dosimetrist that currently works 3 days per week. As you can tell this is a very balanced position that will allow you to be current with newer technologies but still allow the deserved work/life/family balance. Position Description: The Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Pennsylvania is seeking a clinical medical physicist to work at a satellite facility, Chester County Hospital, in West Chester, PA. The candidate should have an M.S. degree in medical physics or a related field, at least three years experience, and be certified in therapeutic radiological or radiation oncology physics by the ABR or ABMP. The medical physicist provides technical assistance in the development of treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy; monitors patients, maintains established policies, procedures, objectives, quality measurement, and safety. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Plans radiation treatments and performs dose calculations for cancer patients using a wide range of scientific equipment to aid clinical diagnosis, treatment, physiological measurement and bioengineering. Techniques used include ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, ultrasound, lasers, magnetic resonance, electronics and acoustics. Responsible for identifying the treatment, planning and monitoring radiation dose to be given to the selected treatment area and minimizing the dose elsewhere. 2. Ensures accurate measurement of radiation output from sources employed in cancer therapy. 3. Calibrates the thermoluminescent and other dosimeter; reads and makes reports. 4. Supervises technical aspects of dosimetrist’s and therapist’s activities. 5.
