The Hip-Hop and Cultural Studies Collective was conceived in the summer of 1999 by R. Scott Heath and Shawan M. Wade, graduate students at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. During the weekend of March 23-24, 2001, the Collective organized the conference: “The Hip-Hop Paradigm: Mapping and Transcending its Boundaries.” JoHH recognizes their effort to “become the change you want to see.” Learn more at: http://www.umich.edu/~hhcsc/
