Raising funds
for cancer with
furry friends
SHANNON LECLAIR
Times Reporter
The Canadian Cancer Society has a new
face to add to its ranks, and she is excited to come out to Strathmore and work
with the community. Siobhan Doherty is
the revenue fund development coordinator, and will be the representative working
with Strathmore and other areas outside of
the city.
“What we’re looking to do is have myself
be in the community engaging volunteers,
engaging the community to get involved,”
said Doherty.
“One of the big things that we’re really looking for in Strathmore is we have
had some really amazing volunteers in the
past, but just not enough capacity, just not
enough volunteers to make our events happen.”
One way the Cancer Society is trying to
get back into the community is with a fundraising walk for local dog owners called
Bark for Life. The event will happen this
fall, either late September or early October,
and is similar to Relay for Life but will only
last for two to four hours, has more of a
community feel, almost a carnival feel, and
you can bring your dogs out. There will be
treats and games for the dogs and participants can sign up as teams or as an individual.
“It’s a little bit less commitment and also
it does involve canines which is kind of
a unique fundraising event for us,” said
Doherty.
“We had people saying well my dog was
always there for me, when I got home from
treatment he was there, when I was sick
he was there to comfort me, so we really
want to foster that connection and this was
a way for us to do it, get the dogs involved
and a lot of people really enjoyed it.”
She knows there are a lot of dog owners
in Strathmore and there is the dog park, so
the thought is the Bark for Life would be a
good place to start and see if the community is interested in having bigger events at
a later date. Bark for Life originated in Ontario and has slowly been making its way
west.

RCMP officers put their

trying to make the community feel safer.
In his 24 years of service,

Planning for the event is
of course going to rely on
the help of the community
and volunteers. Doherty said
she is looking for five or six
committee volunteers to be
able to help run and plan
the event, starting in mid-August. On event day every extra person available to lend a
hand will be more than welcome.
“Right now we’re really
looking for committee member volunteers so anybody
who has a strong attachment
to cancer, or anyone who
absolutely loves their dogs
and would love to throw this
kind of event,” said Doherty.
It won’t be a huge time
commitment, likely only a
couple of hours a week, but
there is lots of planning to
be done, getting out into the
community, finding teams
and donations.
Siobhan Doherty is the Canadian
Cancer Society representative that
will be working with Strathmore to

Doherty’s goal is to see
100 people participate with
their dogs. The dogs must be
able to behave well around
other dogs, and must be on
a leash. Each participant can
also only bring two dogs.
“Say you have multiple
dogs you’re more than welcome to bring a spouse or a
friend or anyone to take your
other dog(s) just because
that make it a little easier
to handle. We want to make
sure it’s safe for everyone
and the other dogs are safe,”
said Doherty.

Calgary Stampede auctioneer
championship a selling success
JUSTIN SEWARD
Times Reporter
The Calgary Stampede held their tri-annual Auctioneer
Championships on Friday, July 11 at the Calgary Stockyards.
The Top 10 out of 26 contestants who auctioned off their
cattle successfully moved on to the Calgary Stampede championship on July 12.
Since the event is only held every three years, it gives everyone in the auction industry time to catch up, re-live old
memories and compete against each other to see who can
get the most money out of selling their livestock.
“This is where I started my auction career, here in Strathmore (in 1988) and I have sold all kinds of different venues
(such as) cattle cars and heavy equipment,” said Rob Bergevin, an auctioneer from Stavely, Alta.
Bergevin has been in the cattle industry for many years,
as well as lived in the country, and just started getting back
into cattle nine years ago.
“In 2005 we bought the auction market in Stavely, Alta.
along with the Bernshaw Load and we got back into cattle.”
With the purchase of the auction and cattle yard, this was
more encouraging than anything for Bergevin to enter these
cattle-related contests.
He has had success since his first one as “I entered a contest, there were 27 auctioneers and I placed 27th,” said Bergevin.
However, the stakes for Bergevin have since risen, as he
has been able to reach the Top 10 in consecutive years since
then.
The auctioneers are in need of a strategy to stay competitive when cattle auction approaches.
“Coming to these competition forces you to be a better
auctioneer. So I watch auctioneers on video and You-Tube
and try and incorporate what they do in my chant,” said
Bergevin.
In these types of auctions, you need to be professional,
know the value of the cattle you’re selling, and know what
market is available to have a sale for.
“The bottom line is that you work for a producer and try
to get as much money as we can for (our producers) and if
we can become a better auctioneer it will give us that op-

portunity,” said Bergevin.
One of the event organizers, Bryan Danard, has seen
many of these auctions held at the Calgary Stockyard and
really is thrilled about the different auctioneers that come
and compete against one another.
“This event is held every three years and I am on the committee and just good to get the whole industry (auctioneers
and their owners) together. We got auctioneers from the
US and Canada and have a good get-together during Stampede,” said Danard.
To market a marquee event such as this one involves having a stable marketplace for the auction to be held in, and
according to Danard, timing could not be any better.
“The timing of it is very good and the fact that (there are)
very few cattle … at (this) time (of) year, so it is a strong
market,” he said. “I firmly believe in the auction method of
selling cattle in price discovery and I just like to support
the sale.”
The process of determining auctioneers is that it is open
entry to anyone, with the exception that if you won the auction before you cannot come back.
Danard bought into the business in 2003, and this year
marks 20 years for the auctioneer championships.
The winners for this year’s auctioneer championship overall were Travis Rogers, Dan Clark, Jeff Bynum, Shawn Gist
and rookie Tyler Slawinski.

PORTABLE ISLANDS
The first phase of the Downtown revitalization strategy is well underway. Two
portable islands have been constructed and installed along Second Avenue as
a pilot project. The islands will be removed for the winter season to facilitate
snow removal.
In the future, the islands will be capable of being moved to different locations
in the Downtown Central Zone of the Overlay Bylaw, and will be wheelchair
accessible. For this year, the islands will remain in the current locations for the
entire summer and fall season. This will give the Downtown Design Review
Committee the ability to monitor the pilot project for any issues that need to be
resolved prior to installation next spring.
When the Downtown Design Review Committee selected the locations for the
Portable Islands, it was determined that Second Avenue is currently the most
walkable part of the downtown. The Portable Islands are for sitting, meeting
people and possible enjoying a coffee or lunch, and therefore it was considered
appropriate to locate the islands near eating and drinking establishments. The
island on the north side of Second Avenue is adjacent to a bakery that serves
light lunches and beverages. While there are eating and drinking establishments on the south side of Second Avenue between Lakeside and Second
Street, the Heritage Square currently provides a lovely sitting area, as well
as the green space between the Credit Union and the Theatre on the north
side. The location on Second Avenue between Second and Third Street was
selected due to its proximity to the Co-op, which has a deli, and people could
purchase lunches or beverages and sit on the Portable Island. Sunny locations
were selected to ensure that the islands get the most sun over the May to
October period. In addition, it was determined that since parking stalls would
be eliminated to accommodate the patios, locations that had significant on or
off street parking would be the best options.
If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity
please contact the Town of Strathmore at (403) 934-3133.
This is the first year for the Portable Islands. As previously mentioned, they are
portable and may be sited in different locations next year. It is hoped that the
islands get a lot of use and are enjoyed by all.
SUMMER WATERING SCHEDULE
We are also looking for feedback and suggestions for improvement from the
public. We are hoping to continuously improve and revitalize the entire Downtown area over the next few years!

A mayor’s life
JUSTIN SEWARD
Times Reporter
Theatre, vacationing and being a
family man, all fit the criteria of what
Mayor Michael Ell considers to be his
lifestyle when he’s not running politics
in Strathmore.
With Strathmore being a popular railway hub at one point in time, the mayor had an historical interest in how the
community was developed.
“In 1977, the CPR (Canadian Pacific
Railway) abandoned the rail line and
the signing for Strathmore,” said Ell.
The railway was the start to building
the town because that was the main
transportation.
The CPR had an experimental farm
(by the Canadian Tire, Orchard Park)
where they raised livestock, poultry,
and grew fruit and vegetables to feed
the passengers on the train, said Ell.
The mayor had a varied career before
he was elected in October 2013.
“I graduated from high school almost
50 years ago and I have lived in Strathmore since 1977,”said Ell.
He was born in High River and spent
some time in Calgary and Regina working for Marathon Realty.
“My responsibility was to process
the pay of all the real estate taxes from
Northern Ontario to just inside the B.C.
border for the CPR Rail,” said Ell.
After his tenure with Marathon Realty, Ell was heavily involved in finance
until he retired.
“I did commercial credit and consumer credit. I was a branch manager for a
credit union, and also have done insurance investigation, and worked for the
federal government,” said Ell.
He also has a keen interest in theatre. Ell was, and still is, very enthused
about being involved with the performances that go on and helping in any
way he can.
“I have been involved with Strathmore Theatre Players since 1987, and
when necessary, I have worked behind
the scenes, worked on the stage and I
have enjoyed every moment of it,” said
Ell. “Artists in general, whether it is
singing or making a plate, pottery …
we have very talented people in this
town, which goes unnoticed. We have
to find a way to bring that talent out
and let them show it.”
Ell’s theatre career was jumpstarted
when a boss of his let him go.
“In 1987 my boss walked in and said
you are fired and I walked down to
Marleen (Fedoruk’s) house and walked
and asked her if she was wanting help
with the Strathmore Theatre Players
and she said yes,” he said.
Ell thoroughly enjoys acting. One
play that was his personal favorite was
“Don’t Feed the Ducks.”
Travelling is something that Ell and
his wife have taken a keen interest in.
“From January to October we enjoyed being retired as we’ve been on a

three times and Hawaii,” said Ell.
The one trip that was very memorable for Ell was Tahiti, where they got to
stay in straw-covered bungalows over
the water.
“We had the best over the water bungalow, you have to walk over a wooden
walkway that takes you over and had a
glass plate to watch the fish.”
Ell hopes to do that trip again someday, but for now he is actively involved
in Strathmore being the most progressive town it can be.

It seems that tablet devices like the iPad are being
introduced to children at earlier ages all the time.
Experts believe this can be a good thing for children
even those younger than two years old and as long
as the toddlers spend no more than a half hour daily
with the device.
Mayor Michael Ell is hoping to build on the foundation of what the town has already developed
and likes to hear from citizens about what can be
improved upon.

Have you ever heard of bendopnea? It’s a new
word for a new symptom. Patients with advanced
heart failure often become short of breath when
they bend over. Cardiologists are now looking to
this symptom as a sign the patient needs help soon.
Bendopnea comes from the root word “apnea”
meaning shortness of breath.
Swimmer’s ear is an infection in the outer ear canal
caused by water remaining in the ear after swimming
or bathing. It’s common in the summer months.
Drying the ears well after swimming is part of the

125-year-old Church holds memorial service with Hymns
St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Gleichen might be a small in size, but is a huge church in giving back
to the community in which it serves. For over 128 years the original church stands and its efforts in the
community don’t go by unnoticed. On June 22, they held their annual Memorial Hymn Sing in memory
of loved ones that have passed on. They enjoyed a lovely BBQ before going into the church for prayers
and song. Each of the old time hymns were dedicated to one or more people. Some examples of the
beautiful hymns included Shall We Gather at the River, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, and He’s Got
the Whole World. The songs were interspersed with script readings and prayers.

Hope Bridges Society is coming out of the woodwork this
past year in more ways than one. Not only are they dedicated
to adult education and learning through the genre of art, but
the society is also incredibly community oriented in its core
values.
Through their Go Green – Up-Cycling program, participants make various take home art pieces weekly and work
on community-oriented pieces together as a group.

the Week

Word has spread about the programming and
events in the community and how much they give
back to the area in which they serve and participate in.
Three particular pieces from the group Up-Cycling projects were auctioned off at Hope Bridges
first annual Art Auction this past May. All three
were purchased above their valued price (which
included the value of the materials used and the
amount of hours put into the piece by various
community members). It brought the community
together to create, sell and appreciate art.
The first item was a bench called ‘Belong’ and
the inspiration behind the piece is a community
art project providing Strathmore and Wheatland
County with a beautiful bench for people to enjoy.
The process included donations of the pew by
the All Saints & Angels Anglican Church, paint supplies by Hope Bridges, and doilies by local residents. The project was started in September 2013
and was completed in January 2014. StrathmoreBrooks MLA Jason Hale personally purchased and
donated the bench to the Strathmore Municipal
Library and the Lambert Centre to be enjoyed by
everyone.
The second item was a woven project called
‘Connections,’ which was inspired by the idea of
working together with everyone, and with the fab-
rics to create a sense of connection. Donated cloth,
a wooden ladder, and chicken wire were used to
create this project. The end result is a mosaic of
different colours and patterns. ‘Connections’ was
purchased by Katy Webster and donated to Katy’s
Consignment for enjoyment to the community.
The last art piece is a wall mural called ‘Flight,’
which was inspired by samples of plastic card murals online. The idea behind the piece is to lift us
to new creative heights. Creating the piece meant
using recycled plastic cards and an old door for the
frame. The process included drawing the colour
graph, gathering the plastic cards organizing them
using the colour graph, gluing the cards into place
on the graph and finishing with a lacquer. Flight
was also purchased by Katy Webster and was donated to Chinook Credit Union for six months for
enjoyment to the community.
Flight is part of a traveling gallery, which sent
the artwork to the following places: Mark’s Work
Warehouse, Home Hardware, Sears, Hope Bridges
Gala in October, the Strathmore Library and Westmount School. It will continue to be part of a traveling gallery.

At times there can be a bit of stigma with kids
about being classed as being in daycare once they
get a bit older. NEXT, a division of Strathmore Kids
caters to older kids and only for before and after
school care.
“We were finding that kids once they get to that
Grade 3 level, they don’t want to be in daycare
anymore, but the problem is we have parents that
commute so for those three hours after school
they don’t have anywhere to go so my mom wanted to create an environment where they do want
to still come,” said Courtney Beekman, with the
NEXT program.
After Grade 3 Beekman said you can begin to
see a big drop off in daycares that go up to 12
years, with most stopping around ages 9-10.
“It’s a stigma. So when Paula (Beekman) and I
sort of dreamt up the big vision about how to do
this, (we noticed) there is a drop off and there is
a stigma with kids,” said Monica Soltys, Executive
Director for NEXT.
NEXT kind of takes the daycare out of it, said
Soltys, that’s what the program plan was all about,
expand, explore, and excel with NEXT.
“This was an area that they could expand their
ideas about the world, expand their view and expand their creativity and explore new ideas, explore individuality and explore things about bullying … and then excel because we do great things
here,” said Soltys.
Each section of the NEXT room is set up to inspire the minds of the kids that are involved. The
kids often participate in group projects, and at the
time of the interview were working on Viva Rock
Vegas. There is also a media room, a library with a
chill space and a couple of computers and plans to
create an abstract world map on the wall in chalk
paint. In the main area there are games set up,
air hockey, pool and more. There’s also a marble
wall. The kids can build on the wall and make
their own marble drop. At the tool centre, they
will make things out of the parts from old toasters
and other appliances and make key chains, robots
or other gadgets. There is also an Xbox, and the
kids can play active games for 15-minute intervals.
There’s an ever-changing section that’s currently a
photo booth, there’s a cosmetology station, games
in the kitchen and much more.
The NEXT program accepts up to 42 kids. To
find out more call NEXT at 403-983-9433, or email

23. When your in-laws have returned from a flight,
don’t ask your mother-in-law, “how was the broom?”
24. Never stand close to a urinal and press the
“flush” button.
25. When at a urinal, be prepared for an idiot friend
to spin you around!
26. In your 50s, expect a “full” night’s sleep to have
one bathroom trip.
27. It’s okay for dads to do the 2 a.m. feeding and
change diapers. Maybe they’ll change you later!
28. If you buy a puppy for the family, never return
it … even if you’re allergic!
29. The hot lid on a portable fire pit should not be
dropped on the grass.
30. Always compliment your wife, let her go through
doors first, and you should walk on the road-side of
the sidewalk.
31. It’s okay to be tasered (see # 30).
32. Don’t teach a young kid to play video games. I
haven’t beaten Brennen at one since he was seven!
33. In a pub crawl, don’t try to keep up to your
father-in-law.
34. You will have lost people you love, and some
unexpectedly.
35. If you walk into the guys’ PE Change room to
make sure they haven’t killed each other, expect
some “choice” comments!
36. Reply with, “don’t flatter yourself!”
37. When your kid is young and impressionable,
don’t tell him that some random young guy with
long hair, is Wayne Gretzky.
38. If you’re at your first dinner at your girlfriend’s
parents’ house, don’t go for seconds and thirds.
39. Don’t offer to be a pal’s “wing man” when you’re
50 and have been married for half your life!
40. Make sure you know positive from negative
when you boost a car.
41. When your wife says “don’t worry about it,” worry about it.
42. When staying in a motel, leave a tip for the
chamber maids.
43. If you hate water, don’t volunteer for the dunk
tank.
44. Time is relative … the more bored you are, the
slower it goes.
45. Don’t tell your priest you want to be married in
his church because “it’s the biggest one in town.”
46. There are a lot of “dives” in World Cup Soccer.
47. Don’t start to get ready too soon, for a night
out. Give your wife a head start … rent that movie
after all!
48. It’s okay to be 50 and like The Backstreet Boys.
49. Take the stairs as much as you can.
50. Find a way to be as happy as you can be, each
day.
50 ways to leave a learner
PAT FULE
Fule for Thought
First of all, in case you didn’t notice … I’m back!
Only the Fules would leave sunny 27 degree weather here and go to sunny 42 degree weather in Phoenix! Congratulations to all you Germany fans for
your World Cup win, and a special shout out to a
former English student of mine, Carlotta, who has
returned home! She has been one of my faithful 33
readers, so I thought I’d try out my German.
“Carlotta, sie waren ein ausgezeichneter Schuler,
und wir werden Sie ver missen!”
So … I’m not really 50 anymore, but that doesn’t
mean I haven’t learned some things that may be
of benefit to some of you! So, without further ado,
here are 50 things I’ve learned by 50:
1. When your wife says “it’s fine” … it’s NOT.
2. Don’t wear a light blue dress shirt in public …
EVER.
3. If someone offers you a “shot,” always say no to
a “Prairie Fire.”
4. Water wings are not just for little kids!
5. It’s okay for guys to buy feminine products …
they’re not for you.
6. Don’t expect to remember the person’s name you
were just introduced to.
7. Avoid ending sentences with a preposition (see
# 6).
8. Don’t wear pleated pants to a house party. When
you sit, it looks like you’re really happy!
9. Just because you know the bride’s history, don’t
laugh out loud when you see her in white at the
church.
10. After your Grade 12 Grad and you feel sick, remove the bedroom window screen.
11. Don’t wear light tan shorts and sit in the hot
sun.
12. Never get a speeding ticket with your kids in
the car.
13. Always dry your hands thoroughly before leaving the men’s room.
14. Just because there’s a big guy with white hair
and a beard on his cell phone in a bar, don’t ask,
“how is Mrs. Claus?”
15. Cold water and weather have a unique effect
on men.
16. Public restrooms can be pretty gross. In a mall,
head toward The Bay or SEARS … they’re used by
less people.
17. On a similar note for the guys … the stall closest
to the urinals is the one used the least (read this in
an article, believe it or not!).
18. If you’re a teacher, expect comments about babysitting, being overpaid, and having off summers.
19. If you’re seated at a banquet, and get introduced
… stand up and hold onto your tie if there’s a cup
of coffee in front of you.
20. Never tell your daughter that you originally
wanted a second boy, but you’re happy now.
21. When your wife says to answer any of your kids’
questions on sex, make her!
22. If your wife shrinks your favorite cloth neck tie,

Gearheads returns
SHANNON LECLAIR
Times Reporter
The fourth annual Gearheads custom and classic car/
truck show at High Eagle RV Resort in Rosebud is on July
20.
The show began when a client mentioned a car show
he had been at in Lethbridge to Ed Sonmor of High Eagle
RV Resort. The guy said it was to hot and even with all the
nice cars he couldn’t enjoy the show because of the heat
from the sun and the pavement, but hinted to Sonmor that
it would be nice if there could be a show in a place like
the RV resorts.
“I thought why not because our clients do call High Eagle
the emeralds of the Badlands because we’re so green and
cozy in here. It took off from there and we just kind of
grabbed that ball and ran with it and formed the Gearheads
Car Club over here and got a band and got some food
people in and of course got a hold of the car people and
it’s been doing great ever since,” said Sonmor.
The venue size is little restricted, but can fit 80-105 cars
and trucks. Sonmor said he prefers if people pre-register so
he can get an idea of how many vehicles may be showing
up.
The show also features live music with the Cat Country Cougar Hunters performing. There will also be a 50/50
draw, door prizes, ice cream and other food.
“We kind of have the lawn chair concert in the park along
with the car show,” said Sonmor.
“It’s just a nice Sunday afternoon, meet some new friends
and do a little bench racing and see what kind of modifications some guys make - all that kind of stuff.”
The show will go on no matter the weather.
“I ain’t cancelling nothing, the band plays on, if nobody
shows up then I’ll dance to it myself,” said Sonmor laughing.
Vehicle registration is at noon on July 20 and the show is
open to the public from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Photos and more
information can be found online at www.higheaglervpark.

Cobb’s brings carnival of fun to Strathmore
SHANNON LECLAIR
Times Reporter
The Strathmore Stampede may not have a midway with rides coming this year, but that doesn’t
mean there won’t be something fun for everyone.
Mike Sheppard, owner of Cobb’s Corn Maze and
ScreamFest in Calgary, will be bringing Cobb’s
Carnival of Fun to the fairgrounds.
Sheppard said he will be bringing a gyroscope
ride, Zorbs, a haunted house or two, archery tag,
zombie paintball, bouncy houses and much more.
There will also be a bean bag toss, hay bale maze
and lots of fun things for the whole family to enjoy.
Anyone interested will be able to purchase
wristbands for $30 to have unlimited access to all
of the activities - except zombie paintball (one is
included with the wristband and each additional
round is $5). The August long weekend is also
the same weekend the corn maze is scheduled to
open in Calgary.
“What we’re going to do, just to give people
even more value is anybody who buys the wristband at the Strathmore Stampede will be able to
bring that wristband down and exchange it to get
in the first weekend of the corn maze as well for
free,” said Sheppard.
This is the first time Sheppard has brought
some of his attraction to Strathmore, and while it
was last minute, he’s excited to see the weekend
get underway.
“I’m very excited. If it goes well I’ll be much
more excited for next year because we are scram-
Looking for the next great talent
SHANNON LECLAIR
Times Reporter
The Strathmore Stampede talent show is back
for another year, and after last year’s success with
the new voting process, things will look very similar this year.
One of the major differences is that the show is
limited to only 10 entries this year. The deadline
to enter is July 23.
“If we have more than 10 entries by July 23 we
will hold an audition on the 28,” said spokeswoman Judi Wilson.
The 10 qualifying participants will perform during the July 30 volunteer appreciation night.
“Everybody there will be getting a ballot and
will pick (who they like). After the votes are all
counted then the Top 5 will move on to perform
on stage at Heritage Days,” said Wilson.
Daily, during the stampede, the participants will
perform at 4 p.m., with the exception of Aug. 4
when the show is at 12 p.m. All five participants
will perform on the first night, and at the end of
each evening the audience will have a chance to
vote for who they like best. One person will be
eliminated daily until it is down to the final two
on Monday.
“As each year comes along its going to get better and better because people are going to realize
they’re the judges,” said Wilson.
Ranchman’s Cookhouse and Dance Hall once
again sponsored the event, donating $1,500
in prize money, and at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 the
cheques will be awarded to the winners. First
place will receive $800, second will get $400 and
the final three will get $100 each.
“This is open to everyone, we don’t limit it. Last
year we opened it up and we got some really
good talents but in saying that our second and
third runners up were both Strathmore talents,”
said Wilson.
“I hope that the entertainment that they provide
to our volunteer appreciation banquet is huge because it really adds to both sides, it adds to the appreciation for our volunteers, it also gives them a
job to do because they’re the ones judging. We’re
limiting it to 10 entries that night, so it’s not going to go extremely late, as soon as supper is over
we’ll start.”
Talents can be anything and everything, not
necessarily just singing and musicians, though
that is most often the talent showcased. Dancers,
jugglers and even comedians could take a shot at
being the 2014 Strathmore Stampede talent show
winner.
Applications for the talent show can be found
online at www.strathmorestampede.com or by going to the Strathmore and District Ag. Society.

bling, I think we would plan it better that we wouldn’t open
the same weekend then we can bring much more of our
stuff, and more resources out to Strathmore,” said Sheppard.
Each of the stations will require people to staff them. Sheppard said he is looking for about 30 employees to help man
the different activities, and he is hoping to hire people from
the area. For more information, or to apply, go online to

NO “REGREATS”
My dog Buddy loves going for
a walk. It doesn’t matter where,
as long as he gets to go or a
walk. If we don’t take him out
for a while, he’ll come and
whine, and then bark, until we
get the point and actually take
him out. If you have a dog, you
know what I’m talking about. In
town we usually have him on
a leash, so it’s nice when we
can get out of town to let him
run free.
The other day we were down
by the Bow River, walking along
the canals. As we came back
to the van, I glanced up at the
bridge behind it. My attention
was first drawn to the many
mud bird nests tucked under a
ledge on the bridge, but then
it was quickly diverted to the
usual graffiti.
Some of the most beautiful
graffiti is hard to read, but I was
drawn to a phrase that was
just scrawled on the bridge in
black spray paint. It said “No
Regreats.” It was crossed out
and then corrected above:
“Regrets”.
I don’t know if that was
supposed to be funny, or if the

person really did write “No
regreats” and then immediately
had a “regret” because it was
misspelled.
The problem is, we all have
regrets. There is always something we would rather not have
said, not have done, not have
experienced. We regret that
second helping of lasagna last
night. We regret that indiscretion with a coworker. We regret
saying what we did to our
spouse. We regret ignoring our
children for our own pursuits.
2 Corinthians 7:10 tells us how
we can deal with regret: “Godly
sorrow brings repentance that
leads to salvation and leaves
no regret, but worldly sorrow
brings death.”
We cannot get a mulligan or
“do-over” in life, but we can
ask for forgiveness. We can
admit where we have wronged
someone. We can admit our sin
and repent of it. And we can
receive forgiveness and so live
with “no regrets” in light of the
forgiveness we have received.
We have a Saviour who forgives us.

New Hope Community Covenant Church Pastor Sally Carlson is hoping to
make a difference with current and new church goers in Strathmore.

Getting to know
Strathmore’s
newest pastor
JUSTIN SEWARD
Times Reporter
Sally Carlson was raised in her home state of Minnesota, not knowing she was going to become a pastor of a
church, especially considering her family has a teaching
background. Her life decision was altered when she came
to Canada and settled in Strathmore.
“I actually first came into Canada, to Strathmore, to attend
a school called Covenant Bible College. It’s associated with
our denomination and lots of students would come up here
to go to school,” said Carlson.
“Strathmore is the first place I lived in Canada and it was
small when I came in the late ‘90s and not a lot here,” said
Carlson. She came back in 2001 to work at the Bible College
and stayed again until 2004.
“When I finished working there I returned back to the
States for a while and worked and lived in Chicago. I decided to go to a seminary to become a pastor,” said Carlson.
Before that Carlson was already working at Ministries
with college students. When she started seminary, Carlson
met her husband Dan who is also a pastor.
“He had his first call to a church in Saskatchewan so that
is why I came back to Canada,” said Carlson.
“When I finished seminary we pastored together at our
church in Saskatchewan. We were there for four years,” said
Carlson.
Upon arrival back in Strathmore she landed a job at the
Hope Community Covenant Church.
“My focus here is kids, teens, students and missions and
I’m hoping to help our church connect with kids in Strathmore and its growing community,” said Carlson.
What she hopes to accomplish with Hope Church is to
educate people and express how God is always watching,
and reminding people that the church is a good place to go
knowing he is there for you.
Part of the education process in the town will be to create
a program to get that message out, while informing people
more about the church itself.
New to the church grounds this year is the community
garden, created by Communities in Bloom.
“The community garden is looking for ways to help kids
and students get connected and helping them learn where
their food came from, what does it look like to eat healthy,”
said Carlson.
As Carlson gains more experience, she knows the relationship with church-goers will get stronger. She also feels
as people get to know her better it will draw more kids to
the church as things are happening, she hopes to be a resource for them.
Carlson has a unique situation in her family as she as she
has a twin brother and two younger twin brothers.
She also has a passion for travelling and having a concern
for events that happened worldwide and to offer assistance.
“I also have a passion for missions and things happening abroad and experiencing different cultures,” said Carlson. She is a well-rounded traveller, which has taken her to
places like Mexico, Haiti, Ecuador, China, Egypt, Israel and
the West Bank.

Strathmore singer and songwriter
Kirstyn Johnson took to the stage recently as part of the Calgary Stampede
Talent Search Competition. The competition started out with more than 60
participants, which were whittled down
to 24 who competed in the semi-finals,
and then was broken down to finals.
Johnson, who was in the final three
of the MuchMusic and Coca Cola Covers Competition last year, made it into
the finals at the Calgary Stampede singing a song made famous by Janis Joplin.
“I sang ‘Me and Bobby McGee.’ I did
a piano rendition with the band where
I started by myself and then the band
kicked in and I ended up actually getting off of the piano and going and
singing in front of the band,” said Johnson.
Johnson didn’t know when she sang
it for her audition that she would have
to stick to the same song. She said obviously it was a good choice, since she
did make it to finals, but she had to
change the arrangement a bit to make it
seem a little new and fresh each round
of the competition.
A panel of judges decided who moved
on after each round. There was a point
system used, and auditors would tally
up the scores to determine who was
moving on.
In talking with the other competitors
Johnson found out there were many

Federation (CTF) Balanced Budget and
Debt-Free Alberta Pledge today when
the CTF’s Alberta Debt Clock tour
stopped in Brooks.
“People in Strathmore, Brooks and
across our riding are telling me they
are concerned by the PC government’s
plan to pile on debt and borrow from
future generations,” Hale said. “Despite
posting record revenues, we are still
running a $2 billion cash shortfall. Considering just seven years ago we had
no debt and a $17 billion savings account, this is a shameful legacy on this
PC government.”
According to the government’s own
budget documents, the debt will climb
to $21 billion by the end of 2016 and
Alberta taxpayers will be on the hook
for $820 million in interest payments
alone.
Hale said that’s hundreds of millions
of dollars that could have been invested
in programs and services important to
the people living in Strathmore-Brooks.
“The more we commit to borrowing
and not paying down the debt, the more
we are putting the long-term prosperity of our province at risk,” Hale said.
“Albertans can be assured that we will
work tirelessly to balance the budget
and immediately introduce legislation
making balanced consolidated budgets
mandatory, restoring transparency in
the way deficits or surpluses are calculated, prohibit debt-financing and cap
increases in government spending to
the rate of inflation plus population
growth.”

The Alberta Government is asking you to cast
your vote on what the new licence plate should
look like. Cast your vote online, and check the results at http://alberta.ca/licence-plate-survey.cfm.
Top Left: Version one is slightly trailing version two
with 45.05 per cent of votes on July 15.
Top Right: Version two has a slight lead as of July
15 at 48.97 per cent of the votes. Left: Version
three is almost out of the running with a mere six
per cent of the votes.

Albertans are being asked to cast
their vote in order to help choose the
new license plate design for the province. Three designs were unveiled on
July 8, awaiting approval.
Of the three, on July 15, version one
was sitting at 45.05 per cent of the
votes, version two at 48.97 per cent,
and version three only had six per cent
of the votes.
“Alberta is the best place to live,
work and raise a family; and, these
three designs are all inspired by the
pride Albertans have in their home.
The natural beauty of our province is
on display in all three designs. I know
Albertans will enjoy having a say on
what their new provincial licence plate
will look like,” said Premier Dave Hancock in a press release.
The new plate, once chosen, will be
available in the spring of 2015. The
plate will feature the new logo, the Alberta government’s website Alberta.ca,
and will have a reflective coating making it easier to see in low light condition, and easier for infrared equipment
to read. The veterans’ plate will remain
the same, which had been a concern
for some.
“Our current licence plate is more
than 30 years old, and lacks feature to
help make out roads and communities safer. This new plate will make it
easier for police to spot vehicles that
are unregistered, uninsured, or stolen,”
said Minister of Service Doug Griffiths
in a press release.
Albertans will see an increase of $5
when renewing their vehicle registration. The additional cost is to help cover the production costs and implementation of the new plates. New plates
will be given when people renew
their registration, or can be purchased
ahead of the regular renewal time for
a fee.
To cast your vote go to http://alberta.ca/licence-plate-survey.cfm. There
you will also be able to keep track of
the results as votes come in.

Rosebud Theatre
hits the road for
Heritage Park
LAUREEN F. GUENTHER
Times Contributor
Rosebud Theatre and Heritage Park have teamed up to produce Nellie’s Controversial Premier, a half-hour play celebrating the work of the Famous Five, Canadian women who, a
century ago, fought for women’s right to vote, hold office,
own property and legally be considered persons.
“Here, there is mockery, wit, and an outrageous public
scene ... punctuated with some cheeky song and dance,” emailed Natalie Gauthier, who plays Nellie McClung, one of
the Famous Five.
“Come and witness the events that led to Nellie McClung’s
famous Mock Parliament speech,” said Adam Furfaro, Rosebud Centre of the Arts’ Executive Director, in an e-mail. “Witness (Manitoba) Premier Rodmond Roblin wither under the
pointed wit of one of the Famous Five women who championed the Women’s Suffrage Movement.”
Gauthier, a graduate of Rosebud School of the Arts (RSA),
plays alongside fellow grads Kendra Hutchinson and Mike
Thiessen, and Alysa Glen, fourth-year RSA student. Paul Muir,
Freud’s Last Session is about a fictional conversation between Sigmund
Freud and C.S. Lewis. The play focuses around the two great minds of the
20th century and what they possibly would have talked about if they had
met.

C.S. Lewis meets Sigmund
Freud in Freud’s Last Session
LAUREEN F. GUENTHER
Times Contributor
C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud – two of the great minds of
the 20th Century – never met, but if they had, their conversation might have been like the one in Freud’s Last Session,
playing on Rosebud’s BMO Studio Stage this summer. The
imagined conversation takes place in Freud’s home office, in
London, on Sept. 1, 1939, the opening day of World War II.
Freud (Nathan Schmidt) is 83-years-old and nearing death
from oral cancer. Schmidt plays the role so convincingly, I
could almost feel the ache in my own joints every time he
bent himself into a chair, dropping the last few inches, and
as he struggled to get to the floor during an air-raid siren. He
also moves his mouth in the way of people who have poorlyfitting dentures; in Freud’s case, he explains, it’s because he
has an oral prosthesis, to replace cancerous parts that were
surgically removed.
Lewis ( Joel Stephanson), in his early 40s, is still a relatively
unknown professor and author. He thinks Freud called him
for a visit because he criticized Freud in a recent work, but is
surprised to find Freud didn’t even read it.
Freud is outspoken in his disregard for Lewis’ writing and
his Christian beliefs. Lewis speaks with careful deference for
the older man, but doesn’t hold back on a spirited defence of
his biblical perspective.
In the intimate Studio Stage, I feel we’re sitting in a corner
of Freud’s living room as we listen to their vigorous exchange
of ideas. The play is much funnier than I expected, and is
occasionally downright hilarious. I’m touched by Lewis’ compassion for the dying Freud, and surprised to discover I have
greater respect for Freud after seeing this show.
The sound design by Paul Zacharias is a highlight, especially the authentic BBC recordings of Prime Minister Neville
Chamberlain and King George VI announcing the failure to
keep peace, and that England is now at war.
Freud’s Last Session is a thoughtful challenge for us to consider what we believe – and why we believe it. The play runs
til Aug. 23. For tickets, which do not include a meal, call
1-800-267-7553 or go to www.rosebudtheatre.com.

RSA’s Education Director, and resident actor and director of
Rosebud Theatre, directs.
Heritage Park, in celebration of its own 50th anniversary,
has recently opened a replica of the Calgary home where McClung lived during the 1920s.
“We are delighted to partner again with our friends at Heritage Park,” Furfaro wrote. Rosebud Theatre and Heritage Park
join forces for Christmas in Alberta, an annual fundraiser, and
in 2013, Rosebud Theatre presented Vaudeville in the Village
at the park.
“Rosebud and Heritage Park share a kinship based on valuing who we are as people and as Albertans and Canadians,
and where we have come from,” wrote Gauthier. “We make
stories come to life.”
McClung’s history also has a special meaning for Gauthier,
who played Christina Rossetti at Fire Exit Theatre last fall.
She e-mailed, “Christina Rossetti and Nellie McClung are both
fiery women ... Stories like these help to remind me that
when I embrace and focus (my own bold and fiery nature),
my voice can be powerful. I feel a kinship with these women, and affirmed that ... I can make beautiful changes in my
world.”
“I now understand and feel a deep connection to the people who came before me,” wrote Gauthier, admitting her
mind often wandered during high school history classes. “It
was the telling of stories like this one that finally connected
the dots for me.”
Nellie’s Controversial Premier runs all summer, Monday
through Friday at 11:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:45 p.m., at the
Canmore Opera House in Heritage Park. The show is free
with park admission.

This was not the first logo Day has
designed. She also created one for a
women’s centre in Vancouver. She
trained in commercial art Kwantlen
College in Vancouver, now known as
Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
Day became a member of SRAC just
before the logo contest, after finding
out about the group, their goals and
intentions for the arts community in
the area.
Originally Day’s design was in black
and white, but she worked with both
Brandy Hebbes, chair of SRAC and
Wanda Reinholdt, secretary with SRAC,
to add colour and modify the logo a
bit. Reinholdt created the inspiring
and meaningful colour combination.
“When playing with the colour for
the SRAC logo, I looked at the most
widely accepted meanings of colours.
Then I tried different combinations
of them. Blue is usually associated
with peace and comfort. Green is for
growth and inspiration. Yellow is for
intelligence. Red is generally known
as passion and adventure. I did not
think that any of these colours were
strong colours for us by meaning or by
sight,” said Reinholdt.

The Strathmore Regional Arts Collective (SRAC) officially kicked off their

September. After shifting through the

use Lynn Day’s logo. Day was awarded
with two tickets to Rosebud Theatre for

to be just two dimensional art, there’s
also potters, dancers, musicians. I tried
to get a little bit of everything covered,”

“Then, I was reminded that orange
is considered a social colour. Since we
are collective - bringing groups of artists and individual artists together to
support one another, orange fit very
well. I chose a lighter orange so as
to not to overwhelm. Then I tried colours with the orange to highlight the
symbols of art in our logo. The purple
worked the best as it means magic and
creativity. And, as I thought about it,
a sort of ‘magic’ does occur when we
come together and create using our
talents as artists. The final touch was
to add some bits of white within the
symbols to highlight them more clearly.”
The logo was sent to a professional for final touches after a May
board meeting and is now ready to
be launched the public. The logo will
make its official debut in advertising
for the upcoming Arts and Sounds in
the Park Festival Sept. 26-27. SRAC
will be hosting a free family concert in
the evening of Sept. 26 in addition to
the festival all day on Sept. 27. Applying for and being awarded a Government of Alberta Culture Days grant has
made a bigger better Festival possible.

Scott Schiffner scores an 87-point ride on Grand Slam during the first round of Sunday Showdown at the Calgary Stampede on July 13. The Strathmore native went on to the Top 4 showdown, where he scored an 89.5 ride and won the bull riding event and $100,000 in ‘Rodeo’s
Richest Afternoon.’

A perfect ride
JUSTIN SEWARD
Times Reporter
Strathmore’s Scott Schiffner has to
be feeling pretty surreal right now
after his performance at the Calgary
Stampede.
After all, his performance earned
him $100,000 for winning the 2014
version of the bull riding at the Calgary Stampede on July 13.
This capped off what was a very
successful week for Schiffner, who
earned a berth in the Showdown
Sunday by taking a Top 4 spot in
Pool A.
“In my case I hung out for the
whole 10 days, I got to bring my
family and they treat us like gold
and get the opportunity to ride for
$100,000, life’s pretty good on a day
like this,” said Schiffner after his
win.
On what was a very memorable
day for Schiffner, his family was
very calm and just let him do his
routine before he rode. Especially
his children.
“They did not say too much this
morning and we ran out of (good
luck) stickers (this week) so they
were picking leaves and I got some
pretty good wilted ones in my hat
right now,” said Schiffner.
Schiffner believed that he rode
the ‘lucky’ money-winning bull and
could not be happier with the outcome.
The bull that Schiffner rode to victory turned out to be the right one,

speakers, 16-inch rims, Bluetooth, Rear camera, Sound

as he felt comfortable on the whole
ride.
‘That bull was Mike Cory’s, I contracted the bull from the States, he
brought six bulls up for me this
week and rode them in an earlier
round and (the bull) got me the exact same score,” said Schiffner. “My
brother is the biggest bull riding fan
and he is 10 years older then me
and he came here today and asked
me ‘when you make the final four
which one do you want?’ and I was
like ‘the one that will post a good
score and is rider friendly.’ ”
With the success of the Canadian
contingent on Sunday, Schiffner was
really motivated to follow suit with
his fellow competitors.
“To watch us (Canadians win) in
the calf rope to me is the biggest
statement right there because calf
roping is dominated by Americans,
especially Texans, and to come into
that field and beat these guys, you
better be pretty proud of yourself,”
said Schiffner.
It was a very special day for Canadians as not only Schiffner, but
also two others made the final four
in bull riding and he could not have
been more proud of how the field
played out.
“Having (three) of us Canadians
in bull riding finals, it is a special
day. I am really proud of Canada
and I’m really proud of our cowboys,” said Schiffner.
The Strathmore native cannot say
enough about the amount of support he has received in his career
thus far.
“I owe everything in the world to
rodeo - my wife and kids, everything
I own - and to just to top it off with
days like this in Calgary, it makes
me happy of the lifestyle I chose,”
said Schiffner. “The biggest thing
about Calgary is that it is the greatest rodeo in the world. My two favourite places in the world are the
Calgary Stampede and the Canadian
Finals Rodeo in Edmonton.”
According to Schiffner, another
favourite rodeo is the Strathmore
Stampede, set to take place Aug. 1-4.
“It’s always exciting – it is one of
my favourite rodeos, but I don’t get
to hang out long enough because
we’re off rodeoing at other places,” said Schiffner of the Strathmore
Stampede. “It is one of my favourite
rodeos, for sure.”

Rockyford Rodeo
returns
JUSTIN SEWARD
Times Reporter
The Rockyford Rodeo is fast approaching,
commencing on the weekend of July 25-27. The
free pancake breakfast will kick off the festivities at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 26 followed by
the parade at 10 a.m. and then the big event of
the weekend, the rodeo, getting started at 12:30
p.m.
In the evening, there will be a barbeque beef
dinner being served on both Saturday, with
prime Alberta beef being served, and then on
Sunday with beef on a bun, both beginning at
5 p.m.
The newest addition to the rodeo this year
will leave the fans in amazement.
“We are bringing in McMorran and FMX Stunt
Bikes, basically freestyle motocross,” said Justin
Geeraert, who is a part of the Rockyford Lions
Rodeo organizing committee.
There will be no shortage of events, making
for an exciting three days at the Rockyford Rodeo grounds.
“We got the rodeo all three days, chuckwagons all three nights at 6:30 p.m., basically all the
same events as last year but the motocross will
be something to look out for,” said Geeraert.
Like many other small town rodeos in Alberta
participants look forward to not only the midway, but also the main event in the rodeo as it
attracts more people to town.
“The Rockyford Rodeo is a great thing for the
community and brings people from all over Alberta, Canada and the odd time gets some international people coming over and something to
look forward to every year,” said Geeraert.
Once people get inside the gates they should
be prepared to see skilled riders try to hold on
to crazy horses and bulls.
Saddle bronco, bareback, calf roping, steer
wrestling and many more events will be happening. All rodeo participants are competing for
money, as with other rodeos, but there will also
be extra money available to the winners.
“Well the SCA (Sheridan Cowboys Association) put out their entry fee, and then we add
on $1,500 per event,” said Geeraert.
The Rockyford Rodeo will provide some excitement as the younger rodeo contestants will
want to perform and excite the crowd.
“Rockyford is one of those big, small town
rodeos and one of the top rodeos in Alberta,”
said Geeraert.
Geeraert guaranteed that “If you’re looking
for something to do on July 25-27 come out to
Rockyford, you will not be disappointed.”

Strathmore Thunder capture provincial championship
JUSTIN SEWARD
Times Reporter
The 2013-2014 season turned out to be a golden one for
the Strathmore U12 Thunder fast pitch team.
It all started with winter and spring ball, the Thunder
played the Calgary Kaizen and Calgary Adrenaline in double-header match ups Thursday evenings and practiced at
least once a week.
“We chose not to go into a league this year because we
had played in the Calgary league before and driving (to Calgary) twice a week to may be not meet up with the caliber
we wanted. (It was) decided we would practice once a week
and play those double-headers on Thursday evenings,” said
Lana Lane, a coach with the U12 Thunder.
The Thunder participated in two tournaments, one in
Great Falls Montana, losing in a semi-final match up in the
‘A’ Division, and one in St. Albert where they were crowned
the gold medalists. As smoothly as the season went, it was
sad to see the season end so fast after provincials.
“The plans for the future will be fall ball for those who
want to play as September and October are so nice and we
want the girls to meet up again,” said Lane
The U12A Thunder began their conquest for their provincial crown at Westpark Diamonds in Red Deer on July 4 with
a decisive victory 19-0 victory against the Calgary Kaizen.
In afternoon game, the girls came up victorious again by
trouncing the Lloydminister Rebels 15-0. The bats were hot
and spirits were high when they took on the Edmonton
Warrior Wolves early Saturday afternoon. The Wolves were
a strong competitor earlier in the season, with the game
ending in a tie when the two teams last met. The Thunder proved to be too powerful in the provincial match and
edged the Warriors with a 6-2 win.
To close out round robin play the St. Albert Angels played
the Thunder late Saturday afternoon. The Thunder went 4-0
in the round robin and prevailed with a 9-3 win against. St.
Albert.
Semi-final play had the Calgary Adrenaline meeting the
Thunder one last time for the season. Archrivals throughout the season, it was a back and forth semi-final game.
At one point in the game, the girls were down three runs.
Following a head coach speech on character building and a
timely throw out at home plate, the Thunder dug deep and
squeaked out the win 8-7 with a gutsy determination to be
on top.
Also undefeated in round robin play, the Calahoo Erin’s

were the opposition for the big final. Again, the girls showed
unbelievable grit and what is needed to win. In the final the
Thunder rallied from three runs down with timely hits and
catches to become provincial champions by a 14-13 score.
The key to success for the team was using what they
learned in practice and what the coaches were trying to
implement strategy.
“I think the progressive practice in what we’re doing (in
practice) knowing what skills that we needed (in developing) a practice plan,” said Lane.
It was a true team effort of girls supporting each other
and individuals coming through at clutch times that secured
wins all weekend.
“It was not individual efforts per se, like I say there was
not anyone that stood out for the weekend, if one girl was
struggling, then the rest were kicking in with timely plays
and catches, it was definitely a team effort,” said Lane.
Coaches, parents and fans were left on the edge of their
seats throughout the entire weekend. The U12 Thunder
championship roster consisted off: Darian Breaker, Emma
Goldade, Isabella McIntyre, Alex Mackey, Natalie Funk,
Alexis Appleyard, Paige McEachern, Justine Larson, Annabelle MacInnis, Shelby Lane and Ainsley Olson.

JUSTIN SEWARD
Times Reporter
If you like a change in physical activity during the summer
months then why not come down to Jumphouse Gymnastics
for something new. There is a competitive cheerleading division for ages 6-18, and a recreational division that starts at the
age of 4.
Both divisions give the kids a chance to experience something creative with the focus on combining dance at a more
competitive level or as just a fun sport to get involved in during the summer.
“It basically started at a recreational level (seven years ago)
and it is growing hugely in (Alberta) but definitely in Southern Alberta,” said Cassi Weiss, who is the Matrix coach.
There are some different and very unique cheerleading
techniques that people might not understand, but after viewing it for a while will get a grasp on the dances.
“There are different aspects of cheer, stunting with lifting
people, jumps, tumbling and dance so it is a good mix of
gymnastics and dance,” said Weiss.
Cheerleading may be seen by many as a sport meant to be
sideline entertainment at football or basketball games, however, this is a misconception as not only the Matrix program
but many other cheer programs are considered to be all-star
teams.
“Cheer as a sport, which is also called All-Star cheerleading
(the Matrix) do not actually cheer for a team (or individuals),”
said Weiss. “They actually learn a two minute and 30 second
routine and they go to competitions, it is a full-on team sport.”
As for Weiss, she is has only been the head coach for three
years and before that was an assistant.
“It is a great sport for every skill level and body type and
it is definitely something that kids can do in their older years
(from gymnastics to junior high) it is really good for that age
to stay active,” said Weiss.
The competition is staged nationally and worldwide, and
there are discussions on-going for it to become an Olympic
sport.
“This year we are hoping to have two teams, we have about
25 (cheerleaders) that are training over the summer and then
we will hold open try-outs in September.”
Tryouts will be held at the Jumphouse Gymnastics club on
Sept. 10 from 6 p.m.-8p.m. and spots will fill up fast so give
them a call at 403-934-4900 to reserve a slot.
