There are many ways to
serve the Lord
By Chris Young,
Elder for Hilltop Hospitality
Hilltop Hospitality (HH) is the
new name for the church organization formerly known
as CLAF (Congregational Life and Fellowship). Despite the name change, our mission to provide opportunities for fellowship for the FHPC community is still
going strong! And why is this ministry so important?
As Jesus said in Matthew 18:20, "For where two or
three gather in my name, there am I in the midst of
them."

Our Hilltop Hospitality group is always looking for
new members with new ideas and willing hearts. We
meet on the 2nd Friday of each month August through
May at 9:00 am in the Fellowship Center. We invite
you to come and meet us and see how much fun we
have pursuing our mission. If you'd like further information prior to our next meeting in August, please feel
free to give me a call anytime at 480-837-5881.
Come and join us as we live out Mother Theresa's philosophy that "We cannot do great things, but we can
do small things with great love."

We provide Sunday Fellowship between our worship
services, as well as by sponsoring special events like
our recent birthday party with the Harmonica Trio +1,
the After-Easter Brunch, our all-church Thanksgiving
Dinner, our Movie Night, and probably, most notably,
our bi-annual Rummage Sale, which will be coming up
in March 2016. We encourage you to start saving
those items that you may no longer need but which
will become "treasures" to our shoppers. Our last rummage Sale in March 2014 earned FHPC over $7000.00
which has gone to support various projects such as re-

April actual income is slightly off from budget, and actual expenses are over
budget by $3,700. Main factor for higher expenses is paying some budgeted
expenses earlier than anticipated, such as VBS. YTD
income vs YTD expenses lost some ground due to
these early expenses, but it is hopeful that we will
recover before the summer months.

Respectfully,
Linda Lull, Treasurer

Highlighting Our Graduates
Jacob Eberspacher was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 3, 1996 to the
proud parents, Paula and Chuck Eberspacher and big brother Charlie Eberspacher.
He lived his first 9 years in Chicago where he enjoyed his neighborhood friends and
trips to our cottage in southeastern Wisconsin. He had a love of music and the outdoors from the beginning. Jacob joined scouting as a Tiger Scout in the First grade.
Jacob got his first guitar from his parents for his 9th birthday after expressing interest
in playing after watching his dad jam on his guitar. In July of 2006 Jacob and his
family relocated to Fountain Hills after his father retired from the Chicago Police
Department. Within a week he was enrolled in the Fountain Hills Charter School and
began 4th grade. Jacob quickly made great friends, joined Cub Scouts and was introduced to his teacher and mentor, Deb Fisher, of whom Jacob once said “how would I
have found my gift if Ms. Fisher didn’t show me?” Jacob and his family joined
FHPC in 2007 and he was confirmed in April 2010. Jacob became an Eagle Scout on
June 14, 2012 with great support of his church family. His high school years have
been filled with lots of music. He plays at our second service and at school he has
participated in the marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, choir and jazz choir.
Next year he will be attending ASU’s, Tempe campus, majoring in Computer Science
Engineering. He also plans to join ASU’s marching band.

David Hissler was born in Germany on May 3rd 1997 in a place by the name of Wadern, to
the parents of Christian and Katja Hissler. He lived in Germany until the age of 10 in a little
village called Primstal. He went to a small elementary school there, along with every other
child in Primstal. During the time he spent in Primstal two of his siblings were born, Johanna
and Charlotte. Primstal only had one Catholic Church, where David was baptized and had his
communion at age 9. In 2007 the whole Hissler family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. And
quickly after that David was enrolled in 5th grade, he started to adjust to the new language,
lifestyle, and environment. After a few years passed David’s family moved to Fountain Hills,
and became a freshman at FHHS. After settling in the town, he became a member of the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, where he especially enjoyed the live nativity scene with the
llama. By that time his little brother Samuel was born. David joined the Fountain Hills Swim
Team, and has been a member for four years. He regularly participated in the swim meets held
in Scottsdale. During his time in High school, David developed an interest in photography.
Several of his pieces have been displayed in art shows, and took part in painting the mural at
Fountain Park. He plans on incorporating his passion of photography, in his future career as a
mechanical engineer. He will pursue his career path here in Arizona and will later finish his
education at a University in Germany.
Sean Nangle is a 2015 graduate from Fountain Hills High School. During high school
Sean helped with the band and youth group at the church, and participated in the Triennium
event in Indianapolis. He also spent a week in service on the Navajo reservation with the
church before that. Sean was an active member in the local Boy Scout Troop. He hiked
75 miles through the mountains of New Mexico at the Philmont Scout Ranch, Sailed the
Caribbean off of Islamorada at the Boys Scout High Adventure Sea Base, and whitewater
rafted the upper Colorado River at the Rocky Mountain High Adventure Camp. Last summer he circumnavigated Catalina Island (53 miles) in an 8 man canoe in the ocean. In November he hiked 23.9 miles from the north to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. He is
currently in a delayed enlistment program with the United States Navy. He will be heading
to boot camp in August this year. He is enlisted to be in the aviation program with the
Navy. May he always have fair winds and following seas…Hooyah

Mission Ministry
“Thou shall not hunger nor thirst;
neither the heat nor sun smite them,
for He that hath mercy on them shall
lead them, even by the springs of water
shall He guide them.” Isaiah 49:10
As I read this verse I am reminded that
we are not alone, that God is always
with us and sees to our needs. He may
send someone to help us and lead us;
we just have to be open to whomever it
may be that has been sent to help us.
Terri Schmidt, Elder
God has touched our hearts here in the
Mission Ministry and we try to be the helping hands that God
wishes us to be. We have several projects to help feed those
in need or to bring a little bit of happiness into the lives of
those who are struggling. We pray that we are able to make
someone’s life a little easier.
Here are some of the things we are involved in:

Extended Hands Food Bank
Thank you to all who continue to bring in non-perishable
food on Sunday mornings. The Food
Bank is always in need of more food. Is it
time to clean out the cupboards and get
rid of items that have not been used and
are almost outdated? Bring them in and
we will give them to someone who can
use it now.
Thank you to Nancy Wulfmeier, Vivian Virden, Linda Warren, and our new friend Sue Bye (from Shepherd of the Hills
Lutheran Church) for helping with May’s Friday Night Fish
Fry. We will be helping on June 5th. and then in August. We
all enjoy visiting with our new and old friends that come to
eat at the famous Jim Bob’s Fish Fry on the first, third and
fifty Fridays of the month. We help on the first Friday of the
month and we have made so many new friends, plus we see
many of our Presbyterian friends there.
Let us all try and make June 5th Presbyterian Fish Friday. Please come and join in on the fun and enjoy the food. It
is all you can eat for $9.99. It would be so much fun to see
more of our congregation there. Let’s see how many of you
come out to see us at the “best fish fry ever!”

Max’s Closet
After you are done cleaning your kitchen food cupboards,
now you need to go through your closets and kitchen cupboards. And guess what? You can donate all of those unwanted items to Max’s Closet. This place is associated with
the Extended Hands Food Bank. They will take most anything, even used appliances. If you need someone to come
and pick them up for you, please call 480-580-2889. The address is 16548 E. Laser Dr., #5. This address is right next to
the Food Bank.

Water for MANA House
It’s that time of year again when the temperatures
are going to get boiling hot, so please remember
those that are homeless and the Veterans downtown.
They will really be in need of water. We will begin
collection water for them
again this year. If you do not
wish to buy the water and
bring it to Church, you can
write a check to the Church
and put on the memo line it is
for water for MANA House.
We will make sure that water
is bought with the money and
sent down to MANA House.
These homeless are always in
need of clothes, shoes and blankets. We will deliver
them also.
Presbyterian Disaster Relief
“Thank You” to all you generous people that wrote
checks for the Nepal disaster fund last month. $757.00
was given. The Presbyterian Church has such a great outreach to those in need during times of disasters. We are
always glad to give to this program because we know the
money goes where it is needed most.
We, in the Mission Ministry are working on starting a
few other outreaches, but we don’t have the details
worked out yet. We will be taking over the Weekend
Back Pack Program and will continue to partner with the
Church of Ascension. We will be asking for volunteers to
help with this project later this fall, so please be ready to
join us in the fun. As I have said before, if any of you
have new ideas for outreach programs, let Bonnie Hollabaugh or myself know about them. We would welcome
any ideas you may have. If you have some extra time and
would like to join our committee, we would welcome
you. We meet on the second Monday of the month at
4:00 pm in the Conference Room behind the Church
office.
In closing, I want to say “Thank You” to all of you that
help us succeed in helping those in need. I pray for Generous Hearts, for Wisdom in choosing projects, for
Open Eyes to those in need, and most of all I pray for
the LOVE that Christ showed to us. I pray for these
things so that we can share them with others who are in
need of spiritual and physical help.

MISSION PROJECT – SUPPORT OUR TROOPS/VETERANS
In the last couple of months, and just a few weeks left for our current
project, we have focused on our Veterans, collecting new t-shirts and socks
for the warm summer months. I want to thank all of you who have
brought in your donations to date and hopefully for those of you who have
forgotten, you will remember that you can still do so for about 3 more
weeks before the items are going to be delivered. As part of our Mission
Program, we have been trying to help our local veterans, whether at the VA
Medical Center, the VA Home, MANA House or the Vet’s Center (both
help our homeless Veterans). So, if you can, again, items most needed are
socks and t-shirts (sizes L, XL, XXL). There are two boxes for you to place
your donations located at Church; one in the Narthex on the table and
one in the Fellowship Center located on the left side as you
enter. And as usual, donations of toiletries, magazines,
DVD’s, CD’s, and books, continues year-round. Any
questions, please just ask me.

Deacon

Happy Father’s Day
June 21, 2015
The origin of Father’s Day
One Sunday in 1909, Sonora Smart Dodd listened to a sermon honoring mothers. Her
mother had died some years before, so her father had raised her by himself. Dodd
wondered why there wasn’t a day to honor fathers, so she arranged a tribute to her
father at a church in Spokane, Washington. The date was June 19, 1910. Many people believe this was the beginning of Father’s Day.
Another account holds that a West Virginia church held a tribute service for fathers in
1908, following a mine explosion that killed 360 men. Regardless of which story is
correct, President Calvin Coolidge was the first president to designate a special day to
honor fathers. In 1924, he proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day.

One Body, One Spirit
The 2015 Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women will
be held in Minneapolis June 18-21, where the focus will be on
1 Corinthians: 12-27 “For just as the body is one and has
many members, and all the members of the body, though many,
are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were
all baptized into one body – Jews or Greeks, slaves or free –
and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.” There will be a
vast array of opportunities to make and renew friendships and
celebrate the one Spirit that lives and works through all of us.

Stillness can heal
“Be still, and know that I am God!” (Psalm 46:10, NRSV).
People who seek silence and are open to God’s presence
testify that such stillness and seeking can bring healing.
Tension is relieved, stress begins to dissipate, one’s inner
person feels refreshed and the nearness of God becomes
a reality. In the depth of stillness, God’s power is present
and restoring us to wholeness.

Let’s go shopping! That was the call to members of the
planning committee for the Spring Tea from Chair Linda
Capron. With the $600 raised by all those who attended
the Tea, and a calculator in hand, they headed to Target
to buy toys, games, music & video recordings (and storage bins) for the children living with their mothers at the
Changing Lives Center in Phoenix. Three shopping carts
were piled high and delivered to the Center where Mark
Tullis, Partner Relationships Officer for the Phoenix
Rescue Mission (the parent organization of Changing
Lives Center) greeted us with gratitude for the children’s
treasures. Mark joined us for lunch, topped off with a
gourmet Mission Cookie,* in the Center’s dining area
where a resident shared her experience of finding Jesus
in her journey of healing. After lunch Mark led a tour
that included a clinical area where residents’ medical
needs such as dental and vision care are available, class-

rooms where life survival skills and spiritual classes
are held, quiet rooms for nap time, a family room
where mothers can supervise their children at play,
and a beautiful chapel. Thanks to FHPC, many of the
apartments now have tape players available for families to enjoy music since there are no TVs in the
rooms. It was an amazing experience to witness God’s
hand extended to help struggling families through the
loving, kind and generous volunteers, personnel and
donors who make this operation successful.
As the only faith based recovery program in the region
offering long term, comprehensive service to women
and children, the Changing Lives Center helps to rebuild lives of women willing to follow the required
therapy. The 12-18 month program provides a stable,
nurturing environment where women work through
addiction and abuse issues. They receive life skills
education and counseling, and ultimately become selfsufficient through career assessment and job placement. Nearly 40 percent of Maricopa County’s homeless people are women and children in families.

THANK YOU!!
Many thank you notes were received from the recipients of Easter Baskets at the
Devereux Center in April. We wanted to share one so everyone who donated toward this mission project could appreciate the joy the baskets bring to the youth
living there.
“It meant a lot to me to reseave(sic) an
Easter basket from you guys. Cause even
though my grandma loves me she forgot
about spending Easter with me for most of
the day. So instead she worked and then
brought me back to Devereux. So it felt
amazing to know that someone remembered
about me.”

The greater gift
A rich man waited at the riverfront for an ocean liner to depart. An acquaintance who joined him said, “You seem pleased
about something.”
“Yes,” said the rich man, “I’m quite proud today. You see that vessel at anchor? I donated $10,000 worth of hospital equipment that’s heading for a hospital in China. I came to see the vessel off.”
“That’s very generous,” replied the friend. “You know, I also have a gift on that ship. Aboard is my only daughter, who’s
dedicating her life as a missionary to China.”
Stunned, the wealthy man turned to his friend and exclaimed, “My dear brother, when I think of what this sacrifice means to
you, I feel as though I’ve given nothing”

FHHS Graduates’ Baccalaureate
Baccalaureate Service at the Christian Center for the 2015 high school graduates of
Fountain Hills.

Pastor Todd Forrest explaining the purpose
of Baccalaureate.

A baccalaureate service is a celebration that honors a graduating senior class from a
college or high school or eighth grade. The event is typically a Christianity-based interdenominational service.
The baccalaureate service derives from the medieval European custom of presenting the candidates for the degree of Bachelor (bacca) with laurels (lauri) of sermonic oration. The Baccalaureate ceremony is a service of worship in celebration of and thanksgiving for lives dedicated to
learning and wisdom.
The baccalaureate service is believed to have originated at the University of Oxford
in 1432 when each bachelor was required to deliver a sermon in Latin as part of his academic
requirements. Since the earliest universities in America were founded primarily to educate
ministers, the British practice of the baccalaureate service was continued. Because of United
States Supreme Court rulings regarding the separation of church and state, baccalaureate services are not official, school-sponsored events at American public schools. However, many
have student-initiated services at private facilities not paid for with government funds, and as
such are fully permitted by law. Until recent years, school-sponsored baccalaureate services
were common in American public schools, on school grounds.

Students attending Baccalaureate received a ESV Study Bible with on-line tools.
Debby DeBernardi had the honor of presenting the Bible to David Hissler.

Anthem Veterans Memorial
Once a year the sun shines perfectly on this Memorial at precisely 11:11 a.m. Each Veterans Day
(Nov. 11), the sun’s rays pass through the ellipses of the five Armed Services pillars to form a perfect
solar spotlight over a mosaic of The Great Seal of the United States.
The Anthem Veterans Memorial, located in Anthem, Arizona, is a monument dedicated to honoring
the service and sacrifice of the United States armed forces. The pillar provides a place of honor and
reflection for veterans, their family and friends, and those who want to show their respects to those
service men and women who have and continue to courageously serve the
United States.
The memorial was designed by Anthem resident Renee Palmer-Jones. The five marble pillars represent the five branches of the United States military. They are staggered in size (from 17 ft to 6 ft) and
ordered in accordance with the Department of Defense prescribed precedence, ranging from the
United States Army, the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, the United States Air
Force and the United States Coast Guard. Photograph via Anthem Community Council Photograph
via Anthem Community Council Photograph via Anthem Community Council Additionally, the
brick pavers within the Circle of Honor are inscribed with the names of over 750 U.S. Servicemen
and women, symbolizing the ‘support’ for the Armed Forces. The pavers are red, the pillars are
white, and the sky is blue to represent America’s flag. The circle represents an unbreakable border.
Anthem resident and chief engineer, Jim Martin was responsible for aligning the memorial accurately
with the sun.

Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church Foundation
“An Investment Today for the Life of Our Church Tomorrow”

“Low Risk Investment”
The FHPC Foundation By-Laws require low risk investments to generate income for the Foundation. The Board of Trustees believes it has found such an investment in the Arizona Community
Foundation (ACF). The ACF has four investment pools, manages seven hundred million dollars and is growing. In addition, it is a 501 (c) 3 Foundation distributing over twenty million dollars for its investors annually to charitable organizations in Arizona. Distribution of interest is optional. The Foundation has invested $100,000 in the Socially Responsible Pool. At this point, we have elected not to distribute our interest. If we were to distribute the interest, it would be to
the Church.
For the 2014 fiscal year, beginning April 1, 2014 and ending March 31, 2015, the FHPC Foundation grossed $7,471.53,
had fees of $659.69 and a net income of $6,811.84. These figures represent ten months of investment since our original
starting date was not until May 30, 2014.
If you are interested in learning more about ACF, their Annual Report is in the Church Library.

FHPC Ministry at FVV
FHPC Sharing ‘the Word’ Ministry
at Fountain View Village
Sharing ‘the Word’ ministry began at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church with a Sunday sermon by
Pastor Bill Good, that first ignited the spark
for Tom & Terry Martin. In the early part of
May, in 2012 and the message was on
“listening for the Holy Spirit”.
As they left the Sanctuary and headed over to
Fountain View Village they decided to call
upon Teri Larson, just to see where there
Tom Martin
might be a need they might be able to fill and
minister to the residents there. Tom felt directed by his desire
to minister to the Residents and this seemed to address that
desire and be a blessing to those within Fountain View Village. Teri Larson agreed and called and asked Tom and Terry,
how soon they could start. So the date was set and on May
22nd, 2012, the Martin’s began their ministry for both Chapel
services the first service in Independent Living and the later in
Assisted.

Letha Neely, Bud & Carol Fuls and Evelyn Hrunek

Tom would choose the sermon theme and enlisted a resident
to play the piano at the first service, so the Alzheimer Unit
would be able to sing hymns while, Barbara Cipolaro, the
daughter of a resident in Independent Living offered to play
piano for the that service. Terry wrote the sermons, Tom presented them with love and enthusiasm and found several piano
players through-out the upcoming months to accompany both
services. As the service grew, so did the need for additional
support, so Pastor Bill Good made an announcement from the

pulpit and Barbara Wyman, Donna Yordy, Evelyn Hruneck, quickly answered the call and volunteered. By October Tom enlisted Bud and Carol Fuls, Letha Neely, and
others to assist him in the Communion and service presentation. Together, Tom and Bud developed the infamous “Everly ‘After’ Brothers” and would choose special
music with Bud accompanying them on his Guitar, as
they played during the Communion services.
The services continued to grow, so Tom solicited Reverend Stan Jones to take over the first service in the Independent Living Chapel, which he did so very willingly
and developed quite a loyal following. Now the FHPC
team of Reverend Jones, Martin and Fuls and the wonderful volunteers shared the ‘Word of the Lord’ with joy
and enthusiasm for all in attendance, each week.
As holidays arrived, Veterans Day, Life Celebration of
9.11, and even memorial services came into their domain
“The Everly After Brothers” organized a huge holiday
musical celebration in the Town Hall section on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other holiday Sundays for the
enjoyment of all.
When Tom Martin became ill, John Wyman led the singing at one of the last celebrations given in 2013, before
Bud and Carol Fuls began their wonderful continuation
of this important and loved ministry. Now Letha Neeley
leads the singing while Evelyn Hrunek accompanies the
attendees on the piano, in the much beloved ministry of
monthly services. Assistant Pastor, Ken Brown was
called upon to do the Independent service, when Reverend Stan Jones
became ill in
2014, which he
has continued to
officiate monthly
and the participants are always
welcoming and
consider this ministry, just “a blessing to their spiritual and daily
lives”.
What spark might
Pastor Bill’s message be igniting in
you this Sunday?

A parable
There’s a story about a church member on vacation.
While hiking through a forest, he was caught in a sudden summer downpour. To escape a drenching, he
crawled into a hollow log. There, safe from the rain and
lulled by its steady sound, he soon fell asleep.
When the man awoke, he found that the rain had
swelled the wood of the log. He was stuck. Try as he
might, he couldn’t get out, and realized he might die
there.
The man’s life began to pass before his eyes. He
thought of his unpaid church pledge and how little he
had given. This made him feel so small that he was
able to crawl out of the log with ease.

Music Ministry
SUMMER!! It's such a
wonderful time! Some people
are able to get some travel in and
visit family and friends. Some
are able to visit distant places
that take them away from town
for awhile, though our services
are still seeing quite a few congregants. It's good, because they
get to hear, along with the rich
and thoughtful sermons we are
fortunate enough to hear every
Sunday, the heartfelt music
Debbie Fisher, Director of Music
from our Special Music series which runs through the first part of September. There
are wonderful songs to sing and music to be played. There
are hymns that are part of our long worshipping tradition
and new hymns that bring language reflective of our absolute love of God, recognizing Jesus Christ as His Son, our
Savior.
VBS music is always fun, along with the whole
week of young ones running around. I love it! It's fun to
see most of you that are able to spend part or all of the
week running around after them! It's our own summer
camp, and really an important experience for all involved.
I hope the Celebration Singers and Ringers are
able to rest after the wonderful year of music you pro-

vided for our worship experience. I have heard nothing
but wonderful compliments and grateful appreciation of
you. I hope you feel as inspired by being a part of our
service as those who have commented on how you have
inspired them in their worship experience by hearing
you. Thank you! Rehearsals will begin in September for
both the choir and the bells. Anyone interested in joining
us for the 2015-2016 season in worship, please know it is
certainly worth every note. The bells always start out with
some technique training, preparing ourselves for what is a
very unique instrument to play. If you are a musician, past
or present, we sure could use a few more bell ringers for
the season. I promise not to have you play four-inhand...right away!
"I will always thank the Lord; I will never stop
praising Him. I will praise Him for what He has done;
may all who
are oppressed listen and be glad! Proclaim with
me the Lord's greatness; let us praise His name together!
Psalm 34:1-3

For fun

Northern Lights from Space

Feeling footloose and frisky, a featherbrained fellow forced his
fond father to fork over the farthings and flew far to foreign
fields and frittered his fortune, feasting fabulously with faithless
friends.
Fleeced by his fellows in folly and facing famine, the fellow
floundered as a feed-flinger in a filthy farm. Fairly famished, he
fain would have filled his frame with foraged food from fodder
fragments. “Fooey, my father’s flunkies fare far finer!”
The frazzled fugitive forlornly fumbled, frankly facing facts.
He fled forthwith to his family. Falling at his father’s feet, he
forlornly fumbled, “Father, I’ve fruitlessly forfeited family favor.”
The farsighted father, forestalling further flinching, frantically
flagged his flunkies to fetch a fatling from the flock and fix a
feast. The fugitive’s fault-finding brother frowned on fickle
forgiveness of the former folderol. But the faithful father figured, “Filial fidelity is fine, but the fugitive is found! What
forbids fervent festivity? Let flags be unfurled! Let fanfares
flair!”

Member Spotlight …. Did you know?
Violet Wieder
Violet was born in
Transylvania, modern
day Hungary, and
went to school there.
During high school she
also went to Tailoring
School for four years
in the evenings.
She was the 7th child in
her family. Her mother
passed away at her
birth and so Violet was
shuttled around to all
her aunts and relatives.
Because she was a
handful, her relatives
ultimately sent her to boarding school for 3 years from the
age of 10 to 13. It was a very good time for her since then
she had enough to eat. All of her siblings have passed on.
Violet's first husband died of a heart attack after 18 years
of marriage. She had to raise her two children all alone
while working in her own tailoring shop. She always
worked 18 hour days. She was very concerned that her
children have a good education. Violet's daughter is a music teacher and her son is an engineer. They each have two
children.
After ten years Violet married an American and so came to
the United States to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her children,
who were then grown, stayed in Hungary. On their honeymoon they went to Las Vegas and Disneyland. Her husband taught her to drive and she went to English language
classes so that six months later she was able to open her
own Tailoring Shop - Violet Originals.

SCREEN FOR THE CHOIR

Violet loves what she does – to sew a dress from scratch
or to alter any clothing. Five years after becoming a U.S.
citizen, she brought her son and daughter and their children, a son who was four and a daughter who was 1 year
old over to the U.S. so that they could have a better life.
Family is the most important thing in her life.
After eight and a half years Violet and her American husband divorced and so Violet came to Arizona to start a
new life. Her children and their families stayed in Michigan. In her working career Violet has met many wonderful and interesting people. She worked in an exclusive
boutique in Scottsdale where she met ladies from the Kennedys, the Herbergers, the Goldwaters, the Rosenblaums
and from Hollywood. Mrs. Herberger, a wealthy patron,
told her to be proud and honor the work of her hands and
to charge accordingly and to not belittle what you do.
Violet taught her employees in Hungary and in Ann Arbor
to always work hard and give your best. She likes to cook,
to sing and dance and is a Vice President at her Hungarian Club. She loves to arrange events and parties.
Violet moved to Fountain Hills 22 years ago and became
a member here at FHPC in 2004 though she also goes
occasionally to a Hungarian Church in Phoenix.
She has been a member of the Fountain Hills Community
Chorus for many years as well as a member of the Celebration Singers here at church. She stated that she enjoys
the services here at FHPC; the people and the pastor here
make her happy.
Violet is still working and she is proud of all she has accomplished on her own.

To My Church Family:

This is a major “thanks” to those of you
who so generously donated funds toward
the projector for the choir screen.
And a special thanks to John Brockelman for believing in this
project and who worked with me every step of the way.
Letha Neely

You have been such a comfort to me in my
many health issues. Your cards, phone
calls, but most of all your prayers have
helped me get back to normal.
Thank you, thank you .

Hospitalized? Call the church!

With deepest sympathy we list
those members who have passed
away in 2015.
Billy Neal
Sylvester Taylor
Marjorie Koepke
Dallas Shuck
Jack Schuler
Paul Barker

If you are sick, hospitalized or home recovering from illness, we want you to call the church and let us know! In a congregation like ours where people leave in droves for extended
summer months, it is easy for the staff, elders and deacons to
assume, when we don’t see someone, that they are simply
“vacationing away”. The truth is that some of you are sick and
we are not aware of it.
You can help us by simply letting one of the staff know of your
situation. We have an excellent support system in place due to
the diligent efforts of our deacons. Help us serve you by communicating your situation.

What is a Dad?
A dad is someone who wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up, brushes you off,
and lets you try again.
A dad is someone who want to keep you from
making mistakes but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence when you get hurt.
A dad is someone who holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail.

Is it a fruit or vegetable or dessert?
