KENSINGTON PARK
Kensington Gardens is a Royal Park of London, next to the Hyde Park, between Kensington and Chelsea. The park has got 111 hectares. The Gardens are enclosed and are open only during the hours of daylight. There are five London Underground stations located near Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. The Serpentine Bridge is the frontier between Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Kensington Palace is a royal residence in Kensington Gardens. There is a Diana Memorial playground with a pirate ship about Peter Pan. On the other side there is a statue of Peter Pan, which commemorates the author who was inspired by the story in Kensington gardens. There are some Italian gardens with water garden, fountains, ponds and statues. They have a golden statue of Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, surrounded by huge stone sculptures.

HYDE PARK
Hyde Park has got the entrance to central London. There is a big entrance with various columns and three archways. It is open from 6 am until midnight all year round. Henry VIII acquired the manor of Hyde from the canons of Westminster Abbey. It was enclosed as a deer park and remained a private hunting ground, until Charles I opened the park to the public. Sites of interest in the park include Speaker’s Corner (located in the northeast corner), an area where people can speak publicly about anything, provided they don’t use obscene language. At the beginning of the Serpentine there is the urn memorial to Queen Caroline and Diana, Princess of Wales memorial, an oval stone ring fountain. To the east of the Serpentine is London’s Holocaust, a memorial which commemorates the victims of the terrorist attacks, with 52 steel pillars. Gun salutes fire on June, 2nd to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation and June, 10th for the Duke of Edinburgh’s birthday. In Hyde Park a number concerts and public events take place. You can go on boats on the Serpentine and you can see all Hyde Park, Parliament and Westminster

Abbey. To the left, you look over the long water and Kensington Gardens. It has got 4 hectares for wildlife where you can see wildflowers, grass, birds and insects. The rose garden has roses, bushes and plants.
