Translation of the Orthodox and Conservative ketubah texts
The language of the traditional ketubah text is written in ancient Aramaic, and therefore can be difficult for many people to read. Below is the text for the Othodox text and its rough translation in nglish. The blank lines refer to information that is personali!ed for each couple, including their names, the date and location of the wedding, and the signatures of the witnesses.

The Orthodox Text for a Ketubah

The Conservative Text with Lieberman Clause

The $onser%ati%e Text uses the same text as the Orthodox &as shown abo%e', but adds at the end a paragraph known as the ()ieberman $lause(. This additional clause translates as* #nd "oth together agreed that if this marriage shall ever "e dissolved under civil law, then either hus"and or wife may invoke the authority of the Beth +in of the ,a""inical #ssem"ly and the !ewish &heological -eminary of #merica or its duly authori$ed representatives, to decide what action "y either spouse is then appropriate under !ewish matrimonial law% and if either spouse shall fail to honor the demand of the other or to carry out the decision of the Beth +in or its representative, then the other spouse may invoke any and all remedies availa"le in civil law and e)uity to enforce compliance with the Beth +in's decision and this solemn a"ligaton.
