The Atlanta-based firm was established in 1997 with the merger of two southern firms with extensive histories, Kilpatrick & Cody in Atlanta and Petree Stockton in WinstonSalem. In 2011, the firm merged with Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP of San Francisco, thus forming Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP. Since 2001, when Kilpatrick Townsend established a formal Pro Bono Program, their attorneys have dedicated more than 270,000 hours to pro bono work. Through the program, partnerships have been established with the Statewide Election Protection Hotline, the Grandparent Adoption Program, the Guardian Ad Litem Program, and International Parental Abduction. The firm’s attorneys are expected to contribute at least 50 hours of pro bono service each year. Furthermore, the firm’s attorneys serve on a variety of nonprofit boards and have participated in a range of volunteer projects including blood drives and Backpack Challenges to serve school-age children. Nearly 100 of the firm’s attorneys were recognized by their peers in The Best Lawyers of America® 2011.
