IThe Essence of Successful InterviewingI

Learn the three fundamental factors that must come together to provide the foundation for a focused and effective interview. On this base you will build the structured approach known as the Kinesic Interview Technique, whose details make up the remainder of the course. This section also shows the flow that any strong interview/adversarial interview must follow.
IThe Structured Interview OverlayI

The Structured Interview Overlay (S.I.O.) is the basic structure for interviewing. Everyone accepts that interviewing needs to be structured, but few have developed an explicit structure. This section provides that structure and includes: the three essential steps in preparing for an interview, when and where to interview, establishing the goals of an interview, developing rapport, the Four Ps of interviewing, and the fact-finding interview structure itself.
IKinesic Interview Technique Behaviour AnalysisI IYour Guidelines for Using Kinesic AnalysisI

Kinesic Analysis is a diagnostic process in the same sense as a medical diagnosis evaluates signs to arrive at a certain conclusion. Just as physicians follow careful guidelines for diagnosing illness, you can use the guidelines in this section to analyze meaningful behaviours. This section includes: the three factors in kinesic analysis, the reliability of kinesic analysis, and the 10 guidelines for enhancing kinesic analysis.
ISelf Initiated Verbal BehavioursI

You are probably familiar with the so-called “slip of the tongue” in which a person inadvertently reveals his/her true thoughts and feelings. This section builds upon this concept and shows how apparently each special pattern may, in fact, reveal signs of deception or guilt. Included in this section are: the three general types of verbal behaviours, the four general guidelines for verbal analysis and how to recognize the 15 self-initiated verbal deception flags.
ISpecific Diagnostic QuestionsI

Because guilty or lying interviewee typically answer certain questions differently from innocent or truthful interviewees, you can learn how to use specific diagnostic questions to enhance your diagnostic certainty regarding an interviewee’s truthfulness. These questions can also be used to winnow down a large group of suspects. Covered here are: the seven guidelines for using specific diagnostic questions, and 15+ questions you can begin using immediately.
INonverbal BehavioursI

In most cases, physical positions, body shifts, and the touching of body parts are aids to diagnosing the interviewee’s internal state. Behaviours covered include: all parts of the head, with special emphasis on eye and mouth behaviours, arms and legs, and a sizeable group of minor behaviours. In addition you will learn the effects of and how to handle territoriality, protective barriers, physical dominance issues, and physical kinesic techniques.

DAY 2
IThe Patterned Interrogational ApproachI

If you have ever run out of things to say during an adversarial interview, you know how uncomfortable it feels. This need not happen to you and in this section we tell you how to make sure it never happens again. It is our recipe for interrogational success. Included in this section are: how different coping patterns affect adversarial interviewing, the three basic interrogation approaches, establishing a common bond, using silence, general guidelines for optimizing interrogational results, and the structured interrogation plan itself. In addition, you will receive a catalogue of specific lines of rational arguments and emotional appeals that have proven effective over the years: sample arguments for the major crimes and 22 non-specific interrogational arguments.
