1. Introduction
Golden Trophies College (GTC) is a well-known college in Penang that provides high
quality education especially for Diploma and Degree business programmes. For the past 24
years, many students, no matter for Diploma or Degree, had graduated with flying colours.
GTC’s graduates held an excellent CGPA record of 3.5 and above each year. They stated that
their superior performances were never been this easy without all the effort exerted by the
devoted lecturers. Besides, parents had shown their appreciation and gratitude over the
lecturers’ hardworking.
However, the performance of the students had decreased for the past two years. The
top management show their concerns on this matter as it may negatively affect the reputation
of the college. Thus, a research team was formed by the Human Resources Manager to
investigate the reason lied behind deterioration of the education quality and provide
resolution for this problem.
To identify the source of the problem, all the complaint forms were studied and
analysed for further information. Besides, the previous meeting minutes and other related
reports and studies done previously by the college were analysed and referred to prepare this
report.
The following issues related to lecturers were identified and they were believed to be
the major causes for the recent drop of the students’ performance:
