JOB PURPOSE:
The Lead Project Engineer is responsible for a team of Engineers.
The Lead Project Engineer typically operates as a Project manager on
one or multiple projects and is responsible, in this context, for all
activities, internal and external, on the project. In this capacity, the
Lead Project Engineer is responsible for the overall success of the
Project Design or Project Implementation activities in line with the
Projects goals and in accordance with the Projects Functional
procedures and applicable standards.
JOB CONTEXT:
The Lead Project Engineer is assigned by the Manager and is
typically the Project Manager for specific project(s) and maintains a
System or Plant level perspective of the project.
The Lead Project Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day
management of the Project Engineering/implementation team.
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
 Daily communication and collaborative working with the specific
Project Team(s) and frequent interaction with the Manager
 Project collaboration with the different departments in the Projects
Organization and the wider Marafiq Organization (i.e. Technical,
Operations & Maintenance, Procurement, Facilities Planning) on
technical, financial and administrative matters
 Coordination and management of junior engineers
External to Marafiq:
 Effective interaction with Contractors, Consultants and Suppliers

Skills
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:
 BSc or BEng (Bachelor level) university degree in relevant subject
(i.e. mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil, chemical)
 Chartered Engineer with recognized professional institute (i.e.
CEng, PEng, CPEng) or Chartered Project Manager with recognized
professional institute
Minimum Experience:
 9 years of engineering design / project experience in an Industrial
Engineering, Construction or Process related industry
 With a minimum of 4 years’ experience in water production,
treatment and distribution or power generation and distribution
 With minimum of 1 years’ experience in Operations or Maintenance
 Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams in a Projects
environment and / or Functional environment
Job-Specific Skills:
 Possess a broad experience of the major design engineering
disciplines (i.e. mechanical, electrical, instrument & control, civil and
process
 Significant experience of project development, project planning,
project management and project contracting
 Significant experience of project development and/or project
management software (i.e. Autocad, MS Project, Oracle Primavera)
 Significant understanding of investment / financial management
techniques (i.e. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Return On Investment
(ROI))
 Significant understanding of the physical processes of water
treatment & distribution or electricity production and distribution
Skills:
Common
 English Language - Level 4
 Knowledge of Operations systems- Level 3
 Health & Safety Systems - Level 3
 Knowledge of Policy & Procedure - Level 3

 Quality Management Systems - Level 3
 SAP - Level 3
 Time Management - Level
