Use VSEPR model to predict the geometry of molecules (ions) in a systematic way. 2. Relate mass – mole – number – volume of reactants and products in a chemical reaction. Second Grading Period 1. Determine the quantum numbers for an energy level. 2. Identify important hybrid orbitals and their shape. Third Grading Period 1. Write the net ionic equation of a given precipitation by applying solubility rules 2. In a given equation, identify the Bronsted – Lowry acid and base and conjugate acid – base pairs; and the Lewis acid and base. 3. Balance REDOX reactions using the half method and ion – electron method. Fourth Grading Period 1. Express reaction rate in terms of (a) changes in concentration with time; and (b) reactant and product concentration. 2. Explain the effect of concentration and temperature on the rate of a reaction by means of the model of colliding molecules.

SCIENCE III (CHEMISTRY) First Grading Period 1. Recognize the importance of significant figures in scientific calculations. 2. Identify the different mathematical concepts involved in solving problems using scientific notations. 3. Solve problems involving conversions in length, volume, temperature, pressure, etc. Second Grading Period 1. Write formulas of covalent and ionic compounds. Third Grading Period 1. State and explain the colligative properties of a solution. 2. Solve problems on solution concentrations. 3. Classify colloids and relate their properties to their behaviour. Fourth Grading Period 1. Derive from given data the relationship between volume and pressure of a confined gas at constant temperature. 2. Derive from a given data the relationship between volume and temperature of a confined gas at constant pressure. 3. Convert number of moles to mass or vice versa and to the number of particles (atoms, ions, molecules) or vice versa. 4. Determine the percentage composition of a compound.
