TIME TO FLY IN 2014

LINDBERGH SCHOOLS
ADMINISTRATION

Lindbergh Schools is honored to provide
high-quality education for all students, and
the support we receive from our community is
unparalleled. A shining example of this commitment to excellence occurred last spring
with the approval of Prop G, which will help
us build a sixth elementary building on the
Dressel School property.
More than 65 percent of voters cast a ballot in favor of the award-winning, world-class education available
in Lindbergh. This election proved that our community values
quality learning environments and individualized instruction for all
students. As new families continue to move into our neighborhoods, Prop G will help us grow strong by ensuring that future
generations of Flyers have the same educational opportunities as
our 2014 graduates.
Lindbergh continues to lead the state academically, earning
Missouri’s No. 1 ranking for student achievement for four straight
years. Five Lindbergh schools have been recognized as National
Blue Ribbon Schools, six have been named National Schools of
Character, and teachers in all buildings have reached the highest
level of technology training to become LiNC (Lindbergh Interactive
Classrooms) certified.
This year, Lindbergh High School’s graduating class earned 624
scholarships worth $16.6 million. With the continued support of
our community and success of our students, now more than ever,
it is Lindbergh’s Time to Fly. Thank you for your continued support.

ABOUT LONG

School Hours: 8:45 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.

As a National School of Character, we
welcome all members of our community and
encourage family involvement. This falls in line
with our 7 Habits of Happy Kids philosophy,
created by Stephen Covey: Be Proactive, Begin
with the End in Mind, Put First Things First,
Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand then
to be Understood, Synergize and Sharpen the
Saw.
Long focuses on the whole child. We
believe every student has the abilitiy to learn,

and we value the importance of meeting the
needs of all students.
The success of Long Elementary, in large
part, has to do with the committment of our
parents. The Long Parent Teacher Organization
(LPTO) sponsors numerous educational and
social activities throughout the year. Long is
listed each year as one of Missouri’s top

LINDBERGH SCHOOLS
FOUNDATION

The Lindbergh Schools Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Lindbergh’s commitment to excellence in education. The Foundation’s mission is to:
• Endow and administer funds that award scholarships to
Lindbergh High School students
• Support programs and projects in Lindbergh Schools that
enhance the educational experience for students
• Strengthen the bond between the school district, alumni
and Lindbergh communities
For more information or to learn how you can help, please
visit www.lindberghfoundationstl.com.

Lindbergh Schools Foundation Programs:
The Spirit of Lindbergh Teacher Grant Program awards
grants of up to $500 each year to teachers who propose innovative and exciting projects for their classrooms. These programs
are supported by donations from parents and local businesses,
and from the Foundation’s online auctions. Every dollar of every
donation to the Spirit of Lindbergh fund is invested in safe, highyield accounts. Only the interest earned on these accounts is used
to fund the teacher grants, so each gift will continue to generate
income to fund these grants forever. In January, 13 teacher grants
were awarded, bringing the total number of funded projects to
49 since the program’s establishment in 2008. These selected
projects have touched the lives of hundreds of children by more
effectively engaging students in the learning process.
The Lindbergh Schools Foundation Scholarship
Program manages and administers not only its own LSF
Scholarship Fund, but also a number of additional scholarships
established in the names of former teachers, administrators, parents and alumni. In May, 37 scholarships were awarded to
deserving seniors with a total value of more than $37,000. The
scholarship program is funded through the purchase of engraved
bricks in the LHS Spirit Garden, online auctions, clothing collection boxes located on several campuses, and direct donations
from supporters.
The LHS Alumni Association provides scholarships to
Lindbergh High School seniors and supports various LHS programs using funds raised through alumni donations and sponsored events, including annual trivia night and awards ceremony
events. LHSAA also maintains the alumni database, assists in organizing class reunions and helps support targeted LSF initiatives.

LOOKING FORWARD WITH NEW TECHNOLOGY
Lindbergh teachers are among the best
equipped in Missouri when it comes to
using interactive teaching technology,
thanks to an innovative and highly successful program called LiNC – Lindbergh
Interactive Classroom.
LiNC does more than just outfit classrooms with the latest tools; it also provides teachers with ongoing, intensive
training to help them use equipment
effectively and prepare students for a 21st
century global society.
Students in all grade levels bring their
personal devices to school, such as smart-

phones, tablets and laptops. Teachers tailor their existing curriculum to take advantage of these devices and provide students
with opportunities to use them for further
research and study.
Lindbergh teachers also are embracing
the “flipped classroom” model, a nationwide movement in education that makes
classroom materials such as videos,
resource links and teacher-selected websites available to students 24 hours a day,
seven days a week. The flipped classroom
allows students to watch lectures and
refresh lessons at home, so that in-class

time can be used for hands-on, small
group activities that are tailored to meet
students’ individual needs.
School districts around the state are
looking to Lindbergh as a model for how
they can best use technology to help students be ready for an ever-changing,
globally competitive world.
