Tuesday, December 16th-Friday, December 19th auditions for competitive music events at Region
8AAAAA Literary Meet will be held during class. (4th, 5th 6th and possibly 7th period)
FBHS has a history of Region and State Championships in music. We will audition in the following areas:
Girls Solo (audition with a musical theater piece or an art song)
Boys Solo (audition with a musical theater piece or an art song)
Girls Trio--Soprano 1, Soprano 2 and Alto. Prepare the voice part(s) you are capable of singing well for
auditions. The audition piece is the National Anthem and copies are available in the music library. Last
year, a trio for this year was named. One of the students can no longer compete, so this changes the
scenario a bit. We have a LOT of talented, strong female vocalists. While it is important to have strong
voices in trio and quartet, the blend/chemistry between voices is also crucial. Therefore, the 2 voices
from last year's named trio will audition as well, so I can hear/see which combination of voices works
best.
Boys Quartet--Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone and Bass. Prepare the voice part(s) you are capable of singing
well for auditions. The audition piece is "My Wild Irish Rose" and copies are available in the music
library. Last year's baritone and bass are seniors this year and will be auditioning as well. Last year's
quartet won at region and placed at state, so the 2 returning members are very good. However, all
interested men will audition so I can hear/see which combination of voices works best together.

Please keep the following in mind:
*Literary Meet is a GHSA event, so students must meet the same academic requirements (pass/fail) as
high school athletes to compete. I will need to know how many classes you are passing and failing at the
time of auditions. If you are barely passing a class, I need to know that as well.
*I am only auditioning upperclassmen (grade 10-12) for trio/quartet/solo.
*It would be ideal for all students in quartet or trio to be in the same class period, but I will not let their
class period determine my final decision for either group.
*Those who audition should be highly motivated, committed to rehearsals outside of school and have a
good outlook on competition.
I hope this information is helpful to those who wish to audition. Please let me know if you have any
questions.
