Lock-on-after launch a capability, which is prized in the missile guidance technology, is demonstrated in the nag missile in India. This seeker uses a mmW radar to detect the target and locks on to it after launch and carries on throughout its trajectory. This is an indigenous technology and a major step forward towards the self-reliance in the defense technology of the nation. India, all set to realize its dream of ICBM (of ranges more than 10,000 Kms & above), needed this technology badly to develop its multiple target missile. This missile has the ability to hit multiple targets, where each of the targets is independent of each other. The control and guidance of the ICBM missiles is of utmost importance. The missiles cross continents to deliver the payload situated 10,000 or more Kilometers away. Here the game is known as precision and precision of bull’s eye and that too in any weather conditions; it’s tough but not impossible. The fact that India has achieved that technology, elevates itself towards the elite club in defense technology, a strong contender to the UN Security Council permanent member, and as a major upcoming technological superpower (not at all in economic fronts) in the world.
