renewal of the current '"0( %ill o)eratin* levy a))roved in 2011 and a s%all increase of 1"(+ %ills" %ills" The levy is for #v #ve e years" It will *enerate about 3,2(3,20$ )er year, which is ($ )ercent of the direct e-)enses for the Main Library and !outh Lorain .ranch" Why is the levy needed?  The current current levy will e e-)ire -)ire at the end of 2016" !ince 200(, ther there e has been a reductio reduction n in state fundin* for )ublic libraries" libraries" /dd to that incr increased eased foreclosur foreclosures es and declinin* )ro)erty values & which reduce local )ro)erty ta- revenues revenues & and youll understand the librarys fundin* crisis" ithout the le levy, vy, library ocial ocials s will be forced to % %ae ae drastic cuts" Those cuts ar are e listed on 4 4a*e a*e 2" How much will the levy cost the owner of a home in the Lorain City Schools district? /n owner of a ho%e with a %aret value of 100,000 in the Lorain ity !chools district will )ay 15"(+ )er %onth & less than the cost of a hardbac best&seller best&seller"" Are funds raised by this levy only used to operate Lorain libraries?    es" es" .y law, all funds raised by the L Lorain orain Library lev levy y %ust *o direct directly ly to su))ort the o)erations at the Main Library and !outh Lorain .ranch"
