Louisiana is the eighteenth eighteenth state in the U United nited States of America. The state capital is Baton Rouge, which is where the capital building is, of course.   This is only the general information information about L Louisiana, ouisiana, but wh what at about its gover nment? What is the the st structure ructure of t this his state? What about the constitution of thi s state? As one reads on, they will be able to answer these questions. Louisiana has had a to total tal of e eleven leven constituti constitutions. ons. The current constitu tion has twenty-four amendments. amendments. One of t the he most popular amendment amendment is the first  one, which states that it is illegal to have same-sex marriage. The Louisiana Constitution has fourteen articles in which the amendments are within them. The  constitution was ratified in 1812. It contains a total of 184,053 words. As well as all of the states in the United States, Louisiana has its own  state officials. The senators are Mary Landrieu (D) and David Vitter (R). The  governor is Bobby Jindal (R) and lietenant go governor vernor Jay Darde Dardenne nne (R). Just like part of the federal government, a state government is able to make laws. What is the process of law law-making? -making? Well i it t satrts with a bill being  introduced to to the House and and is read until until it is c completely ompletely understood. Next, t he bill is debated on the floor. If it is pas passed, sed, then it is sent to the the other House. If it is rejected, rejected, then then it can or cannot b be e reconsidered. reconsidered. Then the bill  has a first first and second reading directed to the commit committee. tee. The bill is then rep orted amd read read and sent to the Legislative Bureau. After that, there there is a third third  reading and the bill is debated debated upon again again and is vot voted ed on final passage. If i t is passed this time, it is re turned to the first house. If not, then it may or may not be reconmsidered. If it passes through both ho houses, uses, then it is sent to the governor. governor. There are three options, from th that at point, for a bill to become become  a law: the governor signs it and it becomes a law, the governor vetoes it, but two-thirds of the house votes towards it, or the governor doesn't sign it in six ty days, then it becomes a law. Although Louisiana is poor in most of the good characteristics, such as education, obesity, violence, etc., it is rich in culture.
