August Requirements - Students entering kindergarten must have a physical, blood lead screening, and proof of eye exam before school begins. Students entering kindergarten and second grade must have a dental exam before school begins. Dental, eye, and physical forms will be available for download through our school website. Incoming kindergartens must complete all immunizations before the beginning of the school year. Pre-kindergartners (new and returning) must have an updated physical and all immunizations updated. Online Registration —Only kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students will receive a paper registration packet. We will be conducting on-line registration for the first time at the elementary school. Families should register online between July 1 and July 25. In order to register your student you need to use Family Access. If you do not currently use Family Access please go the Ridgeview Website at www.ridgeview19.org and click on the ―here‖ link at the bottom of the front page under ―Need Family Access?‖. Please include what you would like for your password in the email that will be sent when you click ―here‖. You will then be able to log in to the tab on the left hand side called Family Access. You will find a lot of good information as well as have the ability to register your child when registration becomes available on July 1. If you have any questions, please contact us. IPA Student Recognition - The Corn Belt Region of the Illinois Principals Association sponsored its annual Student Recognition Lunch on April 3 at the Elks in Pontiac. A.J. Erwin and Eve Remington were honored from Ridgeview Elementary on the basis of service to the community, self-improvement, contribution to the school, and dedication to the school, staff, and fellow students. Many of our 5th graders met these qualifications and we congratulate A.J. and Eve on being selected to represent our school. 5th grade – A la carte – The 5th graders can try out the Jr. High A la carte line on Thursday, May 22. There will be more information coming home in the near future. 2014-15 Pre-Kindergarten Screenings –Pre-Kindergarten screenings will take place August 12, 13, and 14 for 3 and 4 year olds in the Ridgeview school district. These screenings will be for those that did not take part in screenings on April 23, 24, or May 1 and for those that will turn 3 years of age after May 1, but before September 1. Please contact the office at 723-6531 to set up an appointment. 4th-5th Grade Spring Music Concert - The 4th -8th grade spring music concert will take place tomorrow night (Thursday, May 1) at 6:00 PM. Band students should meet with Mr. Marchese at 5:30 PM. 4th graders and 5th grade non-band students should meet in their classrooms at 5:45 PM. Please come out tonight to enjoy some delightful music by our young musicians at Ridgeview. Students will be released to sit with parents after their performances. Teacher Appreciation Week - May 5-9 is Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Please take a moment to let your child’s teachers know how much they are appreciated. Art Show - The art show will take place on Friday, May 16 (6:00-8:00 PM) and Saturday, May 17 (1:00-4:00 PM). Please stop by the school and check out the beautiful pieces of art our students have created this school year.
Fun Day Volunteers - Ridgeview Elementary School Fun Day will take place on Wednesday, May 28. K-2nd will participate in outdoor activities in the morning and 3rd-5th will participate in outdoor activities in the afternoon. If you would like to volunteer to help out on this day, there will be an email going out to those on the S.T.A.N.G.S. volunteer list for sign-up through signupgenius.com. If you are not on the volunteer email group and would like to be, please send an email to [email protected]. Last Day of School – Friday, May 30 will be the last day of school. Students will be in attendance until 12:05 PM this day and breakfast and lunch will be served. This counts as a regular attendance day. Legislation was passed that no longer permits schools to have an 8:45 dismissal on ―report card day‖. 2nd Semester Honors Assembly – The honors assembly for 2nd semester will take place on Friday, May 30, at 10:00 AM. Parents are invited to attend. First Day of School – August 12, 2014 will be the first day of school for the 2014-15 school year. This will be a full attendance day with a 3:05 dismissal. Reminders: Doctor Appointments – When scheduling doctor appointments for the 2014-15 school year, please try to schedule for either the morning or afternoon if possible so that your child can be in attendance the other ½ day. When scheduling appointments, please try to schedule on school holidays if possible. The 2014-15 district calendar is available online at www.ridgeview19.org . Lunch Account Balances - Please make sure all negative lunch account balances are being paid as there will be no more borrowing after Friday, May 16. We greatly appreciate this as it will help our kitchen staff as we close down the school year.
