Mercantilism is economic nationalism for the purpose of building a wealthy and
powerful state. Adam Smith coined the term “mercantile system” to describe the
system of political economy that sought to enrich the country by restraining imports
and encouraging exports. This system dominated Western European economic
thought and policies from the sixteenth to the late eighteenth centuries. The goal of
these policies was, supposedly, to achieve a “favorable” balance of trade that would
bring gold and silver into the country and also to maintain domestic employment. In

Culture is the way that we do things around here. Culture could relate to a country
(national culture), a distinct section of the community (sub-culture), or an
organization (corporate culture). It is widely accepted that you are not born with a
culture, and that it is learned. So, culture includes all that we have learned in relation
to values and norms, customs and traditions, beliefs and religions, rituals and artifacts
(i.e. tangible symbols of a culture, such as the Sydney Opera House or the Great Wall
of China).

Answer. Regional economic integration has enabled countries to focus on issues
that are relevant to their stage of development as well as encourage trade between
neighbors.
There are more than one hundred regional trade agreements in place, a number that
is continuously evolving as countries reconfigure their economic and political interests
and priorities. Additionally, the expansion of the World Trade Organization (WTO) has
caused smaller regional agreements to become obsolete. Some of the regional blocs
