+ Real media texts
What are real media texts?
- Any sort of media you wish to examine.

Typical conventions:
-

Screaming which occurs in almost every horror film to show
that it is a scary film.

-

Handheld camera is used in horror films to add to the feel of
the film.

-

Small takes that mostly fade to black to show small snippets
from the film.

-

Eerie/scary music which builds tension.

-

Added on text to tell the storyline in short sentences. Wrote in
a way which accommodates the film. (Screenshot 1)

-

Establishing/location shots that make the audience familiar to
the next location or where the characters are. (Screenshot 2)

-

Close ups of important/key props used in the film.
