Question: What does my $10 membership go toward?

Answer: Your $10 family membership supports a variety of needs, including:
 $2,000 in scholarships for students in financial need for the 8
th
Grade Washington DC Trip
 Funding technology improvements: $3,000 budgeted annually
 Subsidizing student field trips: $1,500 per grade
 Library Fund: $500 per year
 Nurse’s Office Supplies: $200 annually
 Requests from teachers for items not in DMS budget, i.e., PE equipment, art supplies, school
supplies, etc.
 Scholarships (2- $500) for graduating DHS seniors: must be former DMS students
 Sponsor projects and initiatives such as: Mathpad, Destination Imagination (DI), and Math Night
 Annual “Welcome to DMS Family Dessert Night” for 5
th
Graders

Question: If I become a member, do I have to attend meetings?
Answer: No, but meetings are short (45-60 minutes) and only occur six-nine times annually.

Question: If I come to meetings, will I be asked to volunteer?
Answer: No, we understand everyone is busy, but many hands make light work.

Question: If I suggest an idea, will I be asked to coordinate the project?
Answer: No, but if you are passionate about the project, we would love your help!
