Speaking Activity: In this speaking activity, students will use vocabulary from a previous lesson about describing themselves and others. Students must have some vocabulary relating to physical characteristics or personal characteristics in order to make this activity successful. Objectives:
1. Students will be able to respond to questions about personal traits.

2. Students will be able to ask questions about personal traits. 3. Students will be able to describe people in the target language. Materials:
1. Pictures of well known famous people from popular magazines or the Internet. (Enough

for each student to have one plus a few surplus so that the teacher may participate and so students have some opportunity to pick) Procedure: 1. Greet the class.

2. Tell students that today we will be talking about some very famous people.
3. Each student will pose as a famous people in this activity. Students will each receive a

picture of a celebrity. Pass pictures out randomly to the class. 4. Tell students to move around the classroom and meet the famous people who came to class today. 5. Students should introduce themselves as the celebrity, tell two or three traits about themselves and ask what other people are like. 6. A student might say, for example: “Hola. Me llamo Paris Hilton. Soy arrogante. Soy guapa. Soy rubia.” etc... 7. After students have spoken with several “famous people,” ask students to describe their famous classmates. Adaptations:
1. Use people that students are studying in another content area. (ie: characters from a

Shakespearean play or other texts)

2. Have students bring their own pictures of a famous Hispanic person such as Frida Kahlo, César Chávez, or Juanes.
