JOB DESCRIPTION

Responds to production problems quickly. Possesses excellent trouble shooting skills to determine the cause of and solutions to problems independently involving other staff or external support as necessary. Uses a good knowledge of PLC logic/programming to aid in trouble shooting and repair. Capable of fabricating and modifying parts as required for use in repairs. Capable of managing the repair of any mechanical equipment in use at Litens making difficult decisions when necessary. Assembles machines according to blueprints independently, working with the Machine Designers to make design improvements and corrections as necessary. Provides feedback to the Machine Designers to improve future designs. Uses a thorough understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems to ensure proper operation of the equipment once completed. Uses the drill press, power saws, and milling machine safely and effectively. Supports management in continuous improvement efforts and assists in evaluating advancements in machine design technology. Documents any required changes properly on the drawings. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Preventive Maintenance systems and utilizes this knowledge to make improvements to Litens P.M. system. Completes P.M. checklists properly and returns them to the appropriate person on time. Documents any problems or additional observations appropriately and corrects whatever is possible. Provides coaching and guidance to more junior team members. Coaches all team members on areas of specialized knowledge. Rotating shift work may be required. Occasional heavy lifting and overtime hours may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a certified Industrial Millwright in the Province of Ontario for least two years and have three plus years’ experience in a maintenance position in a manufacturing environment. Must have knowledge and ability to use metal turning equipment such as milling machines, lathes, drills, etc. Must have experience with automated lines and pallet conveyor system. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and able to make difficult technical decisions. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills Must have basic computer skills and have knowledge of computerized PM and Work Order system. Must have excellent planning and time managing skills and able to produce quality work efficiently. Must fulfill requirements of ISO/TS 16949 & ISO 14001.
